I hear a lot of people bitching that they can’t leave kudos multiple times per story, or can’t leave kudos on every chapter, or whatever.
Well, take a page out of this marvelous book, because I swear I’ve never been so happy to receive kudos as waking up to multiple people having done this on multiple chapters on a story I just posted.
The bar just got raised, folks.
Would… would writers be glad to read a comment, that is saying “kudos”?
We’re happy to get a smiley face, honestly. Leaving another kudos like this is great. Anything that tells us we aren’t just screaming into the void

I’d also just like to add that multiple comments are just fine, too!! I don’t want to embarrass her, but @chained-to-the-mirror is the undisputed QUEEN of leaving multiple, endlessly kind comments on the same story! Sometimes her comments are like, “Nothing new to say except that I still love this one!” Plus maybe another sentence or two because she’s unfailingly eloquent. The point is, if that’s all you want to say, just to let the author know that you were there and liked it all over again, this kind of thing is absolutely very, very cool, too!! ❤️

Summary: As Mycroft reviews the
footage from Culverton Smith’s morgue, he revisits his original question:
whether John Watson would be the making of his brother, or make him worse than
ever. He’s come to a conclusion, but decides to give John one last chance. So
he gives him a choice.
Notes: I wrote this story almost
entirely during my three months of working in isolation from home. My work became
the in-depth research of a failed civil uprising/revolution and a horrific
level of destruction in that country. The unnamed village of the title (“sine nomine”
= Latin for “without name”) is very much based on some of the events of that
uprising, though this is set in a very different country. This story had
already been plotted out well before I started this research, but some of what
I was thinking and feeling about that situation is definitely reflected here,
and I was grateful to have the vehicle of this story to help process some of
that.

1. My tomato plant has put out an actual tomato!!!! I live on the 17th floor of my building and wasn’t sure if it would get enough sun, plus I don’t garden/do plants in general, at least not before very recently, so this feels kind of miraculous! I tried to grow a zucchini plant last summer and while it flourished and put out flowers, I don’t get bees this high up and it never produced zucchini. So this is very cool!!
2. I was at the beach with my mom yesterday and a crow came by and accepted my food offerings. To have a crow accept my attempts at gifts feels like a blessing and I’m still tickled!

Reason for the URL: SilentAuror was my penname during the 3-4 years that I was writing HP fanfic, and after a three year solid hiatus, I came back to find that everything had changed. The social media platform had migrated from livejournal to tumblr, the archives had all merged into ao3, and I was also in a new fandom where I didn’t know anyone, so I thought, just in case there were familiar faces lurking around, I could at least keep some consistency by keeping the same penname. Some jerk had already taken “silentauror” here on tumblr, so I took a page from Benedict’s book and added “I am the real” to my name. It made sense, given that someone else was parading around as “silentauror”.
Anyway, yeah. It’s late and I’m going to get back to editing The Beast. I dream of posting tomorrow!! I had booked the day off work and ended up spending all of it at the beach with my mom, so I’m less far along with than that I’d like to be, but it’s in pretty solid shape! I’m not going to tag anyone, but you can do the thing if you want to do the thing. And you can say I tagged you, too. :P

“The coat was actually a couple of years old. What happened is that another chap did the pilot and he found that coat. When I took the project on, I inherited all those original costumes from the pilot. It was the only thing I kept. It was such a lovely coat - a classic. We had three of them because we obviously do stunts and need doubles. It is a lovely coat - really perfect for Benedict. He loved it, I loved it and everyone else seemed to.“

Benedict uses theatrical tricks on screen that usually would belong on stage, but since he’s Sherlock-the-drama-queen he gets away with it.
In the first gif he uses both of his hands in the pockets to make the coat rotate more dramatically. The coat flows a little further out from his body since he extends his arms slightly as he turns.
In the sixth gif he does the same trick, only a bit more obvious. He lets the wind open up the coat before adjusting it.
In the seventh gif his right hand moves the open coat forward to let the wind in. Normally you’d compensate for the flowing coat and let your hand pass further out to not get stuck.
The coat is marvelous on its own, with its weight and wide cut, but it takes a very consciously physical actor to give it life and really make it flow.

As a theatrical costume designer, this coat is a dream. It’s pure magic, and I loved Pagimag’s descriptions of how Benedict accentuates the natural flow and weight of the coat to add more drama to Sherlock’s movements.
And can we talk about the addition of the red thread around the button holes? I’ve read two accounts as to how this came about. One was that it was Ben’s idea, to add a bit of color and draw the eye, and the other was that the costume designer added it for the same reasons. Either way, the red is utterly perfect, as is the famous coat. May it never be lost or replaced.

Like, it needs heaps of edits and whatnot. But there will actually be a fic!! Like within our collective lifetimes!!! It’s currently 44,445 words long. I would weep that it missed the magical mark of being 44,444 words, but it will grow at least 300 words in the editing process, lol. It’s called Sine Nomine and it should be with us all in its finished form in the very near future!!!
