FANS WHO FOUND ME THROUGH THE PARANORMAL 13, my friend Christine Pope just released a Witches of Cleopatra box set. I haven’t read Christine’s Witches Series, but if you enjoyed Dark Angel in P13, this looks like a great deal. You can get it on Amazon and B&N right now.

Today I am editing ...
I’m more than ¾ of the way through Archangel Down, my next book. I’m taking a break to go back and edit it, to smooth out my choppy prose and to make it funnier (because a story that starts out in an interrogation room needs to be funny, don’t you know).
I’m scared out of my skin to be leaving the I Bring the Fire universe, but also happy because I’m writing about something I hate. I always write from a place of hate. Fire was all about redeeming Chaos–not making it cute and cuddly–making it painful and hard and necessary.
This is about redeeming something else. I won’t say too much about it, but yes, it’s about redemption, and hope, and choices in the face of change and chaos. And it’s also got a love story in it underneath it all–because all good stories have love beneath the surface.
Archangel Down will be a trilogy. I probably won’t publish Part I until I have the second part all the way done, and the third part well on the way to done. As much as I’m enjoying it, I tell myself it will never sell. It’s sci-fi, not fantasy and the markets a little smaller for that. If I’m almost done with Part III, even if Part I and II aren’t selling I’ll finish ‘cause I’m close anyway.
Okay, back to it …

ronanschainsaw’s book recommendations
my-raven-boyss asked: Do you have any good books you could recommend?
ok so these are pretty much all of my favorite books/series that i’ve read in the past three years. i’ve tried to put books that i don’t think a lot of people know about - with the exceptions of the riordan stuff and dexter but i just love them. other well known books i’d rec are house of leaves, american gods, good omens, and gone girl.
under the cut are plot summaries and also trigger warnings [from what i can remember] for the following series/books:
THE CAL LEANDROS SERIES BY ROB THURMAN
THE OCTOBER DAYE SERIES BY SEANAN MCGUIRE
THE APPRENTICESHIP OF VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN SERIES BY KENNETH OPPEL
THE I BRING THE FIRE SERIES BY C. GOCKEL
LIESMITH: BOOK 1 OF THE WYRD BY ALIS FRANKLIN
THE DARK WIFE BY SARAH DIEMER
ZEUS GRANTS STUPID WISHES BY CORY O'BRIEN
ALL THOSE MYTHOLOGY SERIES BY RICK RIORDAN
THE DEXTER SERIES BY JEFF LINDSAYAND OBVIOUSLY READ THE GODDAMN RAVEN CYCLE IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY. CANON GAY CHARACTERS. PROBABLE GAY ENDGAME PAIRING. TREASURE HUNTING. DRAG RACING DOUCHEBAGS. EVERYONE IS WHITE BUT WE ALL PRETEND THEY AREN’T. IT’S A GREAT TIME.
also like …i don’t know if i’d ‘recommend’ it because really they are 90% awful and they keep getting worse as she goes but THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES BY ANNE RICE are some of my favorite books despite the fact that i actually genuinely hate them as well.
Thank you so much for featuring I Bring the Fire.
… Went back and put links in the post for easy finding on Amazon. I tried to do first in series for each, but I couldn’t find the first in series for Rick Riordan. So just linked to the pretty cover you have in your post. Or am I not supposed to alter post like that? Please let me know if I have broken Tumblr etiquette.
Somebody recc’d me along with some other great authors. Thank you!

REVIEW AND FREE BOOK ALERT! SOLATIUM by Becca Mills, sequel to Nolander (free just about everywhere: on Amazon, GooglePlay, B&N, Kobo, iBooks, Scribd & Oyster – read my review)
Okay, now down to business. I begged Becca Mills (who I did not know at the time) to beta for Solatium (i.e., I read the non-edited rough draft) ‘cause I loved Nolander so much. Nolander was one of those ebooks I found myself reading every waking moment of my day. You know how you get an ebook, and you think to yourself, “Gosh, I’m so glad this grocery line is taking forever because it means I’ll have more time to read and my husband can’t be mad that I’m taking so long. Bwahahahaha!”? Yeah, Nolander was like that.
At about 600 pages, Solatium is longer than Nolander, and I couldn’t read it on my Kindle because it’s old and apparently doesn’t like DOCX files. This means I had to read it on my computer.
I promised I’d get back to the author in a week.
It took me two days to read the story because I couldn’t tear myself away from my computer. My children were neglected, my husband was irritated (didn’t have long grocery lines to blame my life responsibilities negligence on).
I love this series. I look forward to the next book so much. The Emmanations Series is everything RIGHT about self-publishing: complex characters, fantastic plot with intrigue, magic, science (including one of the best “sciencey” explanations of multiple realms I’ve ever seen), and larger themes running right below the surface. I doubt a publisher would pick it up … it’s too rich, and too deep, but IT ISN’T BORING. And that’s what makes it everything right about Sci-Fi and Fantasy–the exploration of deep themes in not boring ways. That is what both genres are at their heart. I would classify this as “sci-fantasy”, it’s a cross-genre trend that is occurring in the self-publishing world that the major publishers seem to be missing.
To highlight the not-boring elements:
Humans aren’t helpless or ignored. The “non-magical” take an active role in this story, and human weapons aren’t completely useless (a trend I hate).
There are dragons.
Elf like creatures.
Immortals who don’t act “mortal”.
THERE ARE DINOSAURS. YAY!
The first book in this series, Nolander, is FREE, and this one ends at a satisfying spot, so you don’t have to wait until the series is finished to pick them up. They’re worth the read as they are.
Pick up Solatium on Amazon, iBooks, GooglePlay, B&N , Kobo, & Scribd.

//Since some people wanted to see pics from the Lokasenna I am working on right now. And since I have not uploaded art in some time ;) //
There is some debate in the scholarly circles of the murder of Filmafeng being added later by Christians because they didn’t believe Loki calling people out for having sex with their brothers, and wearing dresses should be enough to murder his children and tie him to a rock with snak venom dripping down on him.
