National Poetry Month: Day 4

Fame is a bee.

It has a song-

It has a sting-

Ah, too, it has a wing.

Emily Dickinson

National Poetry Month: Day 3

This is one of my favorite poems of all time

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodde...

National Poetry Month: Day 2

Today the poem comes from a kindle book I got late last year.

Affections: Collection of Poetry (Vol.1) by Warren L.G De Mills

The Masterpiece

I found oblivion

through the depth of her eyes.

I saw a myriad of dreams

of ecstasy and love.

I felt eternity in her touch.

An endless stream

of peace and joy;

The Eden, paradise.

I visited dimensions

in her embrace.

I was intoxicated

by her graces.

I know there is a God

a creator of the heavens.

She is his best creation.

The Masterpiece of God.

National Poetry Month: Day 1

This month is national poetry month. I was trying to think of what to do with it and I decided it could be fun to share some things I’ve been working on and some poems by other authors. Let’s embrace it all.

For today I’ll start with one of mine. This will be in a book that I’m hoping to get out later this year called To My Heart.

Fading Soul

Lying in wait

as the soul fades away

wondering if the time will come

the heart cries out

as the soul fades away longing for its time

time to soar

to share with...

Sing Sweet Nightingale Quotes Part 1

I’ve started reading Sing Sweet Nigtingale by Erica Cameron. I thought I would share some quotes along the way as I read. I won’t do002 very many each time so it isn’t a super long post but also so I can just keep track.

Anyway I’ll share the description of the book then the quotes. When I finish the book I share my thoughts on the book as a whole. You get it on Amazon here.

Description: Seventeen-year-old Mariella hasn’t said a word in four years, and it’s not because she can’t: it’s because she...

Sing Sweet Nightingale

Sometimes things can get timed just right. Working nights sometimes I feel like I miss out on things. But one night I was off and when I woke up I decided to get on Twitter for a second and see what was going on. Well that second turned into an hour. When I got on I saw Spencer Hill Press talking about an author chat that was about to start. Those tend to be fun so I thought I would check it out.

I’m glad I did because I got to find out about some pretty interesting new books and chat with som...

Are you someone’s darkness?

03What does music do for you? Is it background noise? Does it make you happy or get you pumped up? Is there a song that can make you cry?

Why does the music give you that feeling? Is it the voice, the words, the instruments? Does the song remind you of something to give you that feeling?

Last night at work I listened to a song that just with the first couple of notes I had tears in my eyes. It takes me back to years ago when I first saw an episode of a show that even as I have watched it over the...

Problem Free Philosophy

03Do you have a philosophy that is your go to keep you calm? Lately my Pandora station that I listen to at work has started playing some Disney and musical songs. It has been a nice change and has made me smile with some of the songs as the remind me of various things.

Hakuna Matata came on and I smiled and laughed singing along thinking of the scene from the movie. Then I started thinking, what is my “problem free philosophy” from the bible?

I think my go to one since I first read it as a kid is...

New Year, New Day

Colourful 2014 in fiery sparklersWe have made it to the new year and through the first day. Give yourself a pat on the back. ;) I hope everyone has a great 2014!

As 2013 was coming to an end my mind wondered off to the usual of New Year’s resolution. I used to them every once in a while but then I would get discouraged after a while if I missed some of what I was trying to do or if I felt like I wasn’t doing as well as I should or could be. So then those resolutions would go down the drain. Any one else know that feeling?

With...

Perfect Glass

3Summary: I couldn’t stop crying because it was so intimate, in that way I always thought being physical with him would feel. If someone had walked in they might have thought Henry was barely touching me. I knew the truth of it.

Things get messy when Meg Kavanagh gets involved—first with Jo Russell, the eccentric old artist, and then with Quinn O’Neill, the intriguing loner who can’t hide how he feels about Meg. Her senior year isn’t turning out like she planned it, but sometimes the best parts...
