Day 1 of BEA fun, where is the Dr. Pepper?

008My Thursday in New York was a fun, long day. It started with going to an adult author & book breakfast. The upside was that Neil Patrick Harris and Anjelica Huston were there and it was great to hear them talk about their upcoming books. They both sound great andNeil was hilarious. The downside was that the supposed 011breakfast part of the morning consisted of a basket that had a few muffins and bagels to choose from in the middle of the table. For a long day ahead just a lonely muffin wasn’t ho...

City girl for a couple of days

016I can’t believe it. I actually made it to New York. It is a place that I have always wanted to go at least once. I have a list of places both in the states and international. Something that made this trip even better was that for the first time I was going to BEA (Book Expo America). This was something that was going to have 750+ authors, 1,000 exhibitors.

My first day in New York started with me leaving the airport heading for my hotel praying for my life that I even make it to the hotel. I j...

National Poetry Month: Day 29

Today is one of mine. It will be a part of a book called To My Heart that will hopefully be out later this year.

Unsung Love

Unsung love

to my heart

longing to be free

to be shared

our unsung love

unlike any other

at least to us

it is unique

a timeless love story

an unsung love

that is ours to cherish

National Poetry Month: Day 24

Failing Affection

Our memory has slain

Everything but pain

And the evidence remains

Unnoticed.

There was silence between us

-Awkwardness at best.

Our love was unspoken

And so was all the rest.

In darkness we feared

A future with an end.

In our minds we knew

Broken hearts never mend.

Devoutly we worshiped

Our hearts every move.

We danced to our beat.

We made our own groove.

But every song must end.

Every dancer gets tired

then loses their rhythm

and fails the groove.

National Potry Month: Day 17

The saddest noise, the sweetest noise,

The maddest noise that grows,-

The birds, they make it in the spring,

At night’s delicious close.

Between the March and April line-

That magical frontier

Beyond which summer hesitates,

Almost too heavenly near.

It makes us think of all the dead

That sauntered with us here,

By separation’s sorcery

Made cruelly more dear.

It makes us think of what we had,

And what we now deplore.

We almost wish those siren throats

Would go and sing no more.

An ear can break a human heart

A...

National Poetry Month: Day 16

Here is another one from me. This one will be in To My Heart that will hopefully be out later this year.

Gilded Cage

It holds me close

protecting me from the world

to hold people at arm’s length

Gilded on the outside

keeping up appearances

waiting for the one

to break through the cage

to show the world

to show love

in a new light

The Singer’s Flow

The rhythm of my heart got complicated.

The vapours of my breath were syncopated.

Every note in my soul resonated.

As your harmony made my melody.

There was an unsung love song within me.

A slumbering passion.

That awoke when you spoke.

National Poetry Month: Day 11

A Distant Beauty

Beautiful butterfly I watch you fly.

Majestic wings pierce the sky.

As the clouds slow to stare

At beauty found down here.

No need for nets or a cage.

Love adds words to this page.

Through distant admiration.

With the eyes of adoration.

Distant beauty come to me

Just to converse just to see

That I have no need.

No desire to feed.

Beautiful butterfly I see you.

Watched every move as you flew.

But you must never know.

My true feelings must not show.

National Poetry Month: Day 5

This one will be in a new book of mine called To My Heart that will hopefully be out later this year.

Which Road to Love?

A choice to be made

When the road divides

And none circle back

Which future to take

Is the choice to make

Does the future include you?

Do I move alone?

Which road

brings love to our hearts?
