Things I did this week #9
- Released Undisclosed Desires (High Rise Novella Two) (It’s still free, so do grab a copy!)
- Went to see The Hobbit with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised
- Wondered once again why Hong Kong movie theatres have to be so damn cold
- Had to switch on the heater for the first time this year (a portable one as Hong Kong apartments only come equipped with AC)
- Watched Truth or Dare and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert back-to-back in the company of a bunch of gays (but things can never be too gay for me)
- Attended my first Christmas party of the year
- Put up some Christmas decorations (mainly miniature disco balls, though)
- Decided to write a follow-up to Summer Heat and Younger Than Yesterday in 2013
- Planned some more holiday promotions (do check back next week!)
- Was appalled by the number of TV shows that are on hiatus (but at least Chicago Fire is on)
- Gasped loudly when that thing happened in the Homeland season finale (after dozing off to the Carrie/Brody romance snooze fest)
- Took another week off from writing
- Discovered that Hong Kong has some really good indie bands
- Started feeling a little bit homesick (because of the holidays and my nephew’s first christmas I will miss)
- Shouted at the TV when Monica Galleti appeared on it in a dress… twice (it’s just not right)
- Made this list

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop
All the cool kids are doing it these days, so I thought I’d have a crack at it myself. Thank you, Beth Wylde for accepting my request to be tagged.
What is the working title of your book?
I’ll be talking about my latest release Undisclosed Desires, novella two in the High Rise series.
Where did the idea come from for the book?
It’s the sequel to novella one. On a more serious note, I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a series for a while. As I tend to write shorter works, I always have a hard time saying goodbye to my characters when I finish a book. I also wanted to go beyond ‘that first happy ending’. Let’s face it, once the two main characters get together, there is so much more hot sex to be had (and so much more drama that can unfold).
What genre does your book fall under?
Lesbian erotic romance
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
When I read these blog hop posts, I always want to read this one first. It seems a lot of authors have a problem with giving a face to their characters. Not me. As with all my older characters, the starting point for Isabella was Katey Sagal (my own personal weakness), but then, mid-book, it suddenly changed to Julianna Margulies. As for Nat, she’s obviously Shane (Katherine Moennig) but with better hair and a bit more meat on her bones.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
More lesbian sex and drama at The Ivy.
What is the longer synopsis of your book?

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Three weeks. I know, I’m fast (but writing is all I do all day long).
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Hong Kong. The posh buildings and glossy lifestyles people tend to lead here. The L Word (always). My desire to write hot lesbian sex. My fascination with May/December relationships.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
My wife insisted I include a strap-on scene and I always listen when she has something to say.

Things I did this week #8
- Took a break from writing
- Suffered through my first spin class in months (ouch)
- Made an ab-centric cover for New Girl
- Re-designed the cover for The Honeymoon three times
- Offered Learning Curve for free for three days (hurry up, only one day left!)
- Tried a different neighbourhood restaurant’s lunch set every day (but pizza always wins)
- Watched Argo and Life of Pi and loved them both (oh, the comforting joy of blockbusters)
- Had pictures printed of all my book covers (oh, vanity)
- Decided to never ever set foot in a Starbucks again after they served me The Worst Mocha Ever (Remember: ‘Friends don’t let friends drink Starbucks!’)
- Received Undisclosed Desires back from my beta-readers
- Set the release date for Undisclosed Desires to Wednesday 19 December
- Held a two-weeks-old miniature baby and felt my heart melt several times
- Spent too much time in WordPress upgrade hell
- Was eye-rollingly disappointed in the sequel to one of my favourite lesfic books

Learning Curve = FREE

Learning Curve was the first more romantic story I wrote (although I’ve gotten much more romantic since then.) The character Giselle was inspired by all of these pictures of Gisele Bündchen. Yes, all of them… well, I needed an excuse to inspect all of them in detail. As you can see, the process of naming my characters is a very complex one, and I take it extremely seriously. (I added an ‘L’ though, but it was purely accidental.)
