Things I did this week #11
- Ignored Valentine’s Day (just like every year)
- Fell in TV love with a succubus
- Professed my love for Claudia Winkleman (and her bangs)
- Celebrated Chinese New Year with a Lost Girl marathon (yes, I’m addicted now)
- Started writing High Rise Novella Four
- Called for submissions (send me your dirty lesbian stories, pretty please!)
- Went on a 12K Sunday hike (and fell in love with Hong Kong a bit more)
- Invested in a walking stick (because, seriously, it remains a mystery how I haven’t broken anything yet while walking down all those treacherous, slippery rocks)
- Fell in TV love with Det. Flynn’s wardrobe (please, gods of TV, don’t ever cancel Motive)
- Finished the last edits on No Ordinary Love (It’s out next week!)
- Started on a ’100 push-ups in 6 weeks program’ (because there’s nothing better in life than toned arms)
- Tried to choose green tea over coffee (with a 50% success rate)
- Marvelled at my wife’s trip planning skills (for our US west coast road trip in June)

Hotties: Claudia Winkleman
The most-cherished half hour of my week is watching Film 2013, because, for a geek like me, Claudia Winkleman is simply the funniest woman on TV. She is unique. There is no one like her and, whenever she makes the ‘call me’ sign, I actually want to pick up my phone and dial (but I don’t have her number).
Apart from being eloquent, smart and always hilarious, Claudia is also H.O.T. I mean, she singlehandedly lifts the fringe up to an art form. I ♥ Claudia’s bangs. She’s also very good at ripping movies apart (and the mere thirty minutes she is given to shine on Film 2013 every week are always too short.)

Isabella adjusted her posture and swallowed before speaking. “I believe I may be falling for your charms.”
Butterflies rose in Nat’s stomach. She set her glass aside. “I’m fairly certain the feeling is entirely mutual.”
They both giggled like Hello Kitty girls.
“Are you going to kiss me or what?” Isabella got rid of her glass as well.
“Patience, Doc. You’ve waited this long.” If Nat inched any closer she’d be on top of Isabella—which wouldn’t be a bad place to be.
“True and I’ve run out of patience.” Isabella put one hand on Nat’s neck and drew her near. She brushed her lips against Nat’s lightly then retracted. “Before this goes any further.” She gave Nat a crooked smile. “You’re not the first woman I’ve kissed today, but the only one I’ve wanted to kiss for weeks.”
Then, at last, she surrendered. Their lips met and, instead of the usual frenzy taking over, that unstoppable drive to almost literally take the other, to pin them down and drive out her demons, Nat let herself drift off into the soft caresses of Isabella’s lips. She let them carry her to a place of gentle bliss she hadn’t visited in years.

Call For Submissions: Anything She Wants
Ladylit, the publishing company my wife and I founded in June last year, wants to celebrate its first birthday with a scorching hot collection of lesbian erotica, to be published in June 2013.
We have a title, a cover and an editor (although I can’t take all the credit, but the wife decided the name Harper Bliss should cover our joint effort in this case.) What we need now are… stories!
Here’s all the information you need:

Word Count: 2.000-3.500
Type: Lesbian
Payment: $30 per story
Rights: First international electronic rights
Ladylit Publishing wishes to celebrate its first anniversary with a sizzling collection of lesbian tales. We’re looking for F/F erotica of any subgenre (fiction only). It doesn’t matter how many characters end up in bed (or anywhere else) together, as long as they are all female. Make your setting original, and make sure there’s a little something more going on than just sex. Whether you’re writing about cougars, first-timers, tomboys or latebians, give us a fully-formed character. We’re open to all varieties of lesbian lust, as long as your story is well-crafted and hot.
No incest, rape, underage characters or bestiality.
Original stories are preferred. No simultaneous submissions.
The deadline is May 1, 2013.
Fictional stories only, please. We buy first international electronic rights. Authors will be paid $30 per story.
Please make sure submissions include your name (legal and pen), mailing address and email address in the top left corner of the page. Send it as a Word attachment to submissions@ladylit.com with ‘Anything She Wants (Story Title)’ in the subject line. Please name your document as follows: StoryTitle_AuthorName. Include a 50-word bio with your submission. You will receive an email acknowledgement of receipt within 48 hours.
Make sure your submission is formatted properly using double spaces and Times New Roman or Georgia, 12 pt. font. Don’t put any extra spaces between paragraphs and make sure each paragraph is indented. Use quotation marks in dialogue.

Things I did this week #10
Back by popular demand (the wife asked for it): my weekly list of very interesting things I’ve done this past week. 
- Sent No Ordinary Love (High Rise Novella Three) to my dearly beloved beta-readers (thank you!)
- Barely survived an 8K hike across Hong Kong island (believe me, it’s a very steep island)
- Ran 5K for the first time since 2011
- Watched The L Word with a bunch of gays (most heard comments: “That’s not what lesbians look like!” and “They’re just like gay men!”)
- Saw grown men cry (when Mary-Louise Parker’s character died in Fried Green Tomatoes)
- Thoroughly enjoyed Kristin Lehman’s arms in Motive
- Requested two batches of ISBNs (and felt very grown up about it)
- Procrastinated a lot
- Wrote a short story (and submitted it for publication in an anthology)
- Stopped obsessively checking my sales figures (so liberating)
- Had a very exciting idea to celebrate the upcoming first anniversary of Ladylit (It’s only in June, but some preparation is required)
- Started thinking about possible dirty and dramatic plot lines for High Rise Novella Four (Nat and Isabella are such an explosive combination)
- Went on a Harlan Coben binge (Stay Close kept me up at night, but, admittedly, I’m a real wussy when it comes to thrillers.)
- Blogged about my Valentine’s Day Facebook contest (you can still enter!)
- Got a Pinterest account (but still haven’t sussed out how it works)
- Drooled over Jillian Michael’s abs
- Marvelled at Charlize Theron’s new hair cut
- Made this list

Facebook Valentine’s Day Contest
Erotica and Valentine’s Day go well together. It’s a simple fact. So, because the big day of romance is coming up soon, I decided to hold a contest. It’s a you-give-me-love and I-give-you-love kind of deal (like it ought to be) and it goes like this:

I went on holiday and I read…
Midnight in Orlando by Amy Dawson Robertson
Well-written lesbian romance novella with quite a steamy sex scene at the end. Just long enough to swiftly put me into a holiday mood on the plane over.
Something in the Wine by Jae
Slow, sweet romance that I couldn’t put down. I was sucked into this well-crafted lesbian romance from the beginning. The only let-down was… no physical consummation of the women’s budding love affair (but that’s just me.)
Ice by Lyn Gardner
Oh. My. God. Believe the hype! I completely understand why this book has been ranked at the top of the lesbian best seller charts for months. Talk about unputdownable… I stayed up half a night reading this. It’s not without flaws (*), but regardless of that, I can not recommend it enough. It had everything. Action. Hot characters. Suspense. A thrilling story line. Excellent dialogue. Romance. And… a couple of very moistening sex scenes. Buy it. Now!
I literally can’t wait for this author’s next book.
(*) Dear Lyn Gardner, you’re extremely talented and I so hope that for your next book you hire an editor who’s not afraid to tell you that headhopping is wrong. Or someone who at least insists that you leave a space between different POV paragraphs (and that that cheesy epilogue was totally unnecessary.)
Then Again by Diane Keaton
I sped through all the lesbian fiction I loaded on my Kindle halfway through my holiday, but not to worry, because I’m also a big sucker for celebrity biographies (I’m sleazy in more ways than one). This one was very enjoyable and had just the right amount of name-dropping, dreams coming true and melancholy (three of my favourite things).
I also drank a lot of these.
And now… I go back to work. I’m starting edits on No Ordinary Love (High Rise Novella Three) tomorrow. Spending a lot of time on a beach also works wonders for inspiration. Don’t be surprised if some of my next stories contain exotic massages and bikini-clad babes.

Cover for High Rise Novella Three
Is it 10 January already? I guess I’ve been missing in (blog) action again, but I have a good excuse. I’m deep into the first draft of High Rise Novella Three, so deep in fact that I thought I’d reward myself by posting the cover and… revealing the title.
No Ordinary Love is shaping up to be quite dirty and dramatic. The spotlight is back on sexy fitness instructor Alex and Maddie the banker with the ice-blue stare. The release date is still a while away (around 20 February), but hey, any excuse is good to show a cover featuring a sexy naked woman (and this one’s wet as well). ;-p

Naughty New Year’s Bloghop
First of all: Happy New Year! What better way to kick off 2013 than with a naughty blog hop? Here we go!
Obviously 2012 has been an amazing year for me, seeing as I was ‘born’ in it. Not literally, of course (I’m a little too old for that), but in 2012 I got in touch with my naughty side and released fourteen lesbian erotica titles. I haven’t looked back since. But, now that I am briefly pausing to take stock, let me assure you that ‘becoming Harper Bliss’ has been the best decision of my life so far.
What does 2013 have in store? I very much hope more of the same. Things will heat up in the two last novellas of the High Rise series. Then, I will write a sequel to Summer Heat and Younger Than Yesterday. That’s right, Cat and Rose are coming back. But, for now, enough of me looking ahead. Let’s celebrate, because… there are prizes!
