Django Wexler graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh with degrees in creative writing and computer science, and worked for the university in artificial intelligence research. Eventually he migrated to Microsoft in Seattle, where he now lives with two cats and a teetering mountain of books. When not planning Shadow Campaigns, he wrangles computers, paints tiny soldiers, and plays games of all sorts.

Django Wexler answered Kennedy Gerber's question: I just finished The Thousand Names and really enjoyed it! I rekindled my longstanding love of the Napoleonic Wars from Sharpe, Hornblower, and Aubrey–Maturin (high praise). As I move on to the rest of the series, I was wondering if you had a recommendation for where a first-time reader should read The First Kill and The Penitent Damned. I assume The Shadow of Elysium should be read between books 2 and 3? Thanks! So glad you're having fun with it! Neither story will spoil anything, but they both introduce characters who turn up in the main series later.
