See y’all at Annapolis Comic Con on Saturday October 27th be bringing Tristan and much more!!!

Time to hit the world again as the next date on the Alt World Tour Calender rolls around and we are heading out to Annapolis Comic Con on Saturday October 27th from 10am to 6pm at Roger “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center 273 Hilltop Ln, Annapolis MD 21403. This is a great little show and I am honored to take part in it. This is the place where you can meet Creators without the hustle and bustle of the larger shows. This is also the Annapolis Comic Con Halloween special with lots of cool stuff happening throughout the day and convention specials, learn more about the show here.

Myself I will be bringing along Tristan the Teddy Bear who bumps back at the Monsters under the Bed in A Teddy Bear Tale and the recently released A Teddy Bear Tale II where he takes on the Green Headed Monster. I will also be bringing Fabula Zero Exposition the unique Graphic Novel mix up of comic book and narrative action all about the insanity of writers block featuring Ninjas, Giant Robots and a Diabolical Dance Number. Along with all this illustrated action you will find The Wonder Tales, a collection of original Fairy Tales written by me and of course The Tether Saga. To finish off my table the Cuddly Sketch cards your favorite Superheroes, Villains and other TV/Film characters slightly furry and fluffier than you would normally expect them to be.

See y’all there!

Season 7 Doctor Who Deleted Scene – PS What Happened to Amy & Rory

With the mid-season finale of Doctor Who the good Doctor was left without a companion as Amy and Rory were left stranded 1950′s New York. The season left us with the touching Goodbye from Amy to the Doctor in the back of River’s book. But there was an additional scene that was planned and story-boarded, but never shot. It dealt with Brian, Rory’s father and tied up a loose end in what is very emotive scene.  You don’t have to take my word for it though… Click play and watch for yourself.

Tristan begins a journey at a whole new scale… The start of a Teddy Defender in your Pocket?

Monster under the Bed No Name & Tristan the Defender Teddy Bear

Monster under the Bed No Name & Tristan the Defender Teddy Bear

I’m exploring a new direction for our defender against the Monsters under the Bed Tristan the Teddy Bear. I found a sculptor to ermmm sculpt Tristan and a No Name and they turned out pretty neat. Both of these miniatures are approximately an inch in height and I asked for a Super-deformed look. What I would love to do is take these sculpts and find away to do some casts of them in the poly resin used on other figures of this size. I think it would pretty cool to try to build a small ‘Monster in your Pocket’ type of range out of Tristan and all the amazing characters that appear in the Teddy Bear Tale books. What do you think? Would you pick up a Defender in your Pocket Tristan?

Eight Rules of Writing by Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman

“The main rule of writing is that if you do it with enough assurance and confidence, you’re allowed to do whatever you like. (That may be a rule for life as well as for writing. But it’s definitely true for writing.) So write your story as it needs to be written. Write it honestly, and tell it as best you can. I’m not sure that there are any other rules. Not ones that matter.”   Neil Gaiman – Rules of Writing

Bouncing around the internet I uncovered these rules of writing by Neil Gaiman they do make some interesting reading especially if you are a writer yourself. It kind of follows my rules of writing below.

Nick Davis’ Rules of Writing

1. Just write.

2. It is your world if up is down and down is up that is entirely fine you own it with no explanation needed ever!

The Power of a Promise…

What is a promise? Why are they so special? Why should they be treasured? What is the value of a promise? Here are my thoughts?

A promise is a dangerous thing to make for it contains a secret power, a power beyond imagination that can literally change the world. Promises have overturned Empires, stopped evil in its tracks, made the one you love sing and give life to smile of child, which is perhaps their greatest gift.

That is why a promise should never be given away freely, never be given as a falsehood and should be valued like the most precious possession it is, because when you give a promise it has a life of its own. To those that hold true to what a promise is you know the danger and beauty of them. If given you must follow through, you must no matter what cost honor what you say because a promise is words given power, and words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth… A promise is truth given form and action…  That is why a promise is a dangerous thing and why I never give them freely, but when I do I will stay true to that I promise no matter what. Because when you do you experience something wonderful.

This is why you should only ever… ever… Make a promise you know you can keep and prepared to do anything to make it happen, make a promise to that person you know who will value your word and understands the commitment you are about to undertake.  They are that special… Never forget that. Make all your promises special.

Baltimore Book Fest…. Well… Kinda didn’t work out so well…

You might have seen me at the Baltimore Book Festival…

This weekend I was at the Baltimore Book Festival, a special event for all things wordy and it nice to see a festival dedicated to the written word. I had a table in the Authors Tent and for my entire assigned day I sadly struck out, I guess the mojo just wasn’t with me and the Teddy Bear Tales, Wonder Tales and Exposition all batted below average – we got totally destroyed by a series of Pop-up books. You can’t always have a successful show… Anyhow, enjoy the pictures and thank you to my wife Jean, and my girl Chris for coming along and keeping me company… On to the next show!

Now you can find A Teddy Bear Tale and Fabula Zero at Collectors Corner

A Teddy Bear Tale at Collectors Corner

A Teddy Bear Tale Parts I & II and Fabula Zero Exposition

I am very happy to announce that A Teddy Bear Tale and its sequel A Teddy Bear Tale II are now available on the local Indie shelf at Collectors Corner, a comic book store and gaming Mecca in Parkville, MD. This is a pretty cool development and it’s always a big thrill to see your work on the another stores shelves. So if you are in the area or go to Collectors Corner go check out the Indie shelf and look at all the really neat creator owned titles, especially those mentioning a quietly heroic Teddy Bear named Tristan who protects children from the Monsters under bed.
