Marvel at the return of really bad action figures with the Iron Man 3 Assembles
This has to be a joke right? After the pretty cool Avengers Action Figures we get these turds as part of the Iron Man 3 release. Tale a look at the extreme lack of basic articulation in the picture above and the gallery below after the jump. I had not realized 5 point articulation was back again maybe it is a retro statement?
What makes these figures a bad turn is the Hurrah that Hasbro is making of them and the $10 price point they are expecting to charge. Also we’ve seen innovative action figures from Hasbro with the 8″ Sigma Six figures that also feature plugin weapons and interchangeable parts, and also have amazing articulation. It is boggling with all this toy technology we have something as basic and lazy as these Assembles. Still I guess the bargain bin has to be lined with something. So come on guys making good toys is not hard!

A 24 hour Ty Templeton Comic Book Challange – The Last Day by Rodrigo Bravo
Every now and again I pay a visit to the Ty Templeton’s Art Land home of the Bunny Toons and a great place for insight into the mainstream comic book business. Also the Bunny Toons weekly comic is well written and offers some interesting looks at life. The last update Ty hosted a 24 hours comic book challenge and posted the results to his blog – you can click here to check them all out.
My personal favorite of the bunch was The Last Day by Rodrigo Bravo, a 24 page strip with no dialogue at all. Please click here to read it, warning though it is a little bit of a tear jerker at the end.

A look at the future with the Master Sculpts for the Monster under the Bed Miniatures
You’ve seen Tristan and the No Name Monster appear a number times in updates over the last few months. These two Master Sculpts arrived in my mailbox today and this puts us one step closer to a possible new project for Tristan and the Monsters under the Bed. The plan is to eventually make a Monster under the Bed range much like those fun Monsters in your Pocket we had in our youth. As this project moves forward I will keep you updated, anyone want a set of Monsters and Tristan? All I need to do is find the funding, figure out how to get these cool miniatures cast in durable PVC plastic and how to promote the range… So any thoughts of were to start?

The Cuddly Defenders take on the Monsters under the Bed a quick sketch by Dan Nokes
The Cuddly Defenders by Dan Nokes
This sketch by Dan Nokes is part of his daily Quick Sketch Challenge where he asks you to challenge him to a illustrate anything from your imagination – you can click here to learn how to take part. I asked to Dan, who is also the artist for A Teddy Bear Tales to draw the Cuddly Defenders Tristan, Wilma and Archer surrounded by the Monsters under the bed. This is also a concept drawing for an idea I am playing with for the first Teddy Bear Tale comic…

Well… Now that I am 40 I guess I should grow up now, right?
So this be 40?
It is hard to imagine that today is my 40th Birthday, that I’ve been on this Planet this long and somehow through all my misadventures managed to live this long, and to have a life. You see even now I cannot see myself as 40 years of age, we all carry with us a certain mental age image in our head of how we look and act. Most of the time this mental age image has us in our perpetual mid-twenties, but now I am at an age were we should be all grown up and building on the successes of our thirties… How did I get here?
This morning as I lay in bed on an unusually lazy Sunday morning for me I let my mind drift back twenty years ago, you know per-internet times, were social networking really was that and didn’t involve Kitten Memes. I remembered that 20-year-old kid that I was having similar lazy morning and thinking of his future – what would he think if he saw me know, would this be the choice he would make, or would he take a different path? How much of me has changed from then? I don’t have that Kid’s unbreakable optimism, the body I once had or the certainty that every choice I make is the right one. But in many ways I am still that Kid, I still dream, I still love, I still try to be excellent and I still drive myself to succeed. I got this far through sheer force of will, a little bloody mindedness and really no plan at all.
Never once did I think on the day twenty years ago that I would take a huge leap of faith and move to the USA, that I would have two wonderful children and have two equally wonderful women (who for some crazy reason love me), in many ways my thirties has been about me finding my feet and fitting them to the path I want to take in this life. I’ve found that path I do honestly want to write for a living, and while the chances of that happening in reality, I can at least write and share my works, to share my dreams, my characters, my voice with you all should you choose to ever read my stories. It may never make me rich and famous, but it makes me happy and its a path I want to walk down.
I think if I could go back and meet that Kid I would not offer him any insight into his future beyond always look for the unseen adventure and joy in your life. Then let him go to see if he becomes that Lifeguard, Designer, Model, Photographer, Magazine Production Editor, Traveler, Painter,Geek, Nerd, Gamer, Artist, Lover, Father, Husband, Writer, Author and Dreamer… Would he take the same life path I did, the same choices, the same chances, would be bolder or more conservative, would he follow his heart or his head? I hope whatever that twenty year old became he at least in his heart remained a Dreamer and of course remembered to have a little fun with the Brunette he was sharing his bed with that day… Ahh the memories
You see I am 40 years old, I’m not quite ready to grow up yet and I am still a Dreamer… Life is an adventure even in the littlest of details… Go live it… Onwards, eh?

A new look at more concept characters for A Teddy Bear Tales
All that has happened and all that will depends on you now Tristan – Master P
The last set of concept characters, be they heroes, villains, henchmen, allies or something else have been completed for the upcoming A Teddy Bear Tale Comic book. Drawing concepts helps me flesh out the World within a World that Tristan finds himself in at the end of the A Teddy Bear Tale II. It also helps me see what may work visually and some of these concept characters may never see the pages of Tristan adventures and others may be born into new stories. So without further ado you can check out these new concepts after the jump.

A Military Project uncovered to create the next Super-Soldier just how close are we to a real-life Captain America?
Just how close are we to the real life creation of a Super-Soldier, that a Captain America will be walking amongst us? Wired has an interesting article about the USA Military researching these possibilities, a very own Weapon X right here on our shores? Will tomorrows troops be Mutant Powered? Just how close are to releasing this genie from the bottle? Click here to learn more.
Myself the idea of a real life Cap is pretty cool, to see some real life shield slinging, eh? Although the chances a real life Cap would be another Steve Rogers, with his convictions and soul are low. Would this unlock the next stage of human evolution and we would have to deal with a very real Wolverine? And then with all the advances in exoskeletons how long before someone straps armor on and becomes Ironman. It doesn’t take a futurist to see all these possibilities and that if we cross over that line there would be no turning back, the next arms race wont be for weapons, but for what can be unlocked inside us? Check out this article for more food for thought… Something to think about, eh?
