A most interesting and delightful Annapolis Book Festival – Thank you Key School & Third Eye Comics

Annapolis-Book-Fest

Tristan meets Clifford the Big Red Dog at Annapolis Book Festival

sm-comickeyToday I attended the Annapolis Book Festival at the Key School as a Guest of Third Eye Comics who were running the Comic Key & Artist Alley.  In short it was a little like a mini-mini-con held on the school grounds and was a fun, relaxing experience.

The smaller events give me a wonderful opportunity to talk about my work and really interact with Comic fans at a more personal level, talking about experiences, my work, my art, what projects I am working on next and generally enjoying the show without any real pressure. If you’ve never attended the Annapolis Book Festival at the Key School then I highly recommend this event and you should check it out next year. For me this was very good show and I am energized for next weekend’s Awesome Con.

Meet The Cuddly Defenders A Teddy Bear Tales illustration and a look at things to come…

CuddlyDefendersCoverOn Friday I was inspired by the Ty Templeton Tribute to Carmine Infantino and Roger Ebert. I was looking through the covers that Infantino created including this iconic one.

This Iconic Cover by Carmine Infantino the first artist to give Batman his balls back

After browsing through the covers that this Infantino cover inspired I too found myself similarly moved to have a go myself and the results you can see above. Below is the full version without the titles and graphics.

April Fool – Dwayne @TheRock Johnson Production Company option A Teddy Bear Tale here we go!!!

RockandTristanBreaking News!!! I just got off the phone with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Production Company and A Teddy Bear Tale featuring Tristan & Wilma the Cuddly Defenders who protect children from the Monsters under the Bed has been optioned by Brahama Bulls Production Company.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter Dwayne Johnson was inspired by the evocative art piece of Alex Panagopoulos featuring a Teddy Bear protecting his child from a shadowy dragon; and has been looking for a story for this New Line co-production. When I noticed this I worked hard to bring A Teddy Bear Tale to the notice of the Rock and his management company and after a continuous twitter campaign by myself and fellow fans of A Teddy Bear Tale we have brought this indie production to Great One’s notice and now Tristan will be heading to pastures new with The Rock voicing the furry hero who champions children everywhere.

Looks like our little bear who started life laying dusty and abandoned on a shelf is now heading to the bright lights of Hollywood. I promise I wont let the limelight go to his head. Thank you all for your help and please tweet the Rock at @TheRock a thank you for picking up A Teddy Bear Tale.

Edit – Yes, this is an April’s Fool joke. However the Rock is producing a Teddy Bear Tale movie and I have been tweeting him about A Teddy Bear Tale in the hopes he will notice the book and maybe adopt it for this movie. To learn how to help this become a reality please click here.

The official release of The Daughter of Frost – illustrated edition a fairy tale I wrote for my Daughter

The Daughter of Frost by Nick Davis

The Daughter of Frost by Nick Davis

This was a long time in coming, with everything that could go wrong in a publishing project going wrong from bad printing, delayed shipping I was half expecting the Dread Pirate Roberts to intercept it. The Daughter of Frost, the fairy tale I wrote for my Daughter to have one story that starts with Once Upon a Time I could tell to her is now done.  This 5-tale on the Nook has now been fully illustrated by the amazing Terra Bidlespacher of whitestageart.com and is available across a number of new formats

DaughterofFrostFrontCover200The Daughter of Frost is now available for you to buy in print or an eBook format of your choice such as Kindle, Kobo or Nook. To learn more about this Wonder Tale and the book formats you can buy it in please click here.

I would also like to take this moment to thank everyone on Kickstarter for their patience and backing this project. I truly hope the wait was worth it, this book has been a labor of love and a story that is unique in its telling. The road for this tale has been long and I thank you all for believing in me :)

Now pick up the book, take a look at what everyone is talking about on the Nook and start believing in the magic of Once Upon a Time again…

The day I almost met Stan Lee but just walked straight past him instead…

Stan 'Da Man' Lee

Stan ‘Da Man’ Lee

Throughout our lives we do incredibly dumb things and here is one of my most dumbest, read on and enjoy. In this little story I almost touched a legend. Let me take you all back to Baltimore Comic Con 2012 I was in the artist alley up near the regular comic book artist and busy pitching my books. A great convention and as always is the case with BCC a good vibe of a show. It was during one of my very quick breaks from my table on a Sunday that the event happened.

Rushing from my table to visit my Teddy Bear Tale Artist Table Dan Nokes,  I brushed past an old man wearing beige clothing with silver hair wearing glasses, he was walking a little stooped I quickly apologized and then lost him in the crowd. You see this old man was dressed like this chap in the picture below.

Yes, that is right on this day I brushed past a living legend. In my rush I had almost knocked over Stan Lee and never even realized it!!! If I had taken just a moment to really look I would have completed a childhood dream. So my loyal readers the moral of this story is simple, if you don’t pause to look around the entire world will pass you by without you even noticing. At least I guess I can say I kind of met one of my idols… Yeah… I’m an idiot…

Wonder Woman Fan Made Trailer… Could this give Diana a new life and movie direction?

_1361984826I know this has been knocking around the internet for a few weeks now, but I just uncovered it myself the other day and thought it would be a pretty cool idea to share this. This is a fan-made trailer and although there are parts of it that are little ropy there is an interesting feel that this really could work to kick start the Wonder Woman movie project. Yes, the take isn’t that original, the war hero waking up in modern times but it does fit Wonder Woman’s origins of fighting Nazi’s during World War II. Anyhow don’t take my word for it check out the trailer below.
