Tristan and me have a little big adventure at the Eastern Shore Fan Con

IMAG2019On Saturday, I took Tristan, my Girls and myself to the Eastern Shore Fan Con bringing with my the Alt-World books, Cuddly Sketch cards and the rest of my art to what turned out to be a fun little convention… Not too far away from the delights of Ocean City and you can check out the pictures from this convention after the jump.

Working in the Artist Alleys at small conventions like the ESFC are very interesting you get introduced to  new crowd and learn new things about your products. Normally I do very well at these shows with the Teddy Bear Tales, but in this case Fabula Zero Exposition turned out to be a popular choice; who knew the prose/comic book mashup of insanity of Writers Block (with a few Ninja’s sprinkled in) would prove to be so interesting. The ESFC is one show I will be returning to next year and was a great start to the convention season. Enjoy the Pictures Below!!!

New Ironman 3 Trailer with extra added armor and Sir Ben Kingsley scenery chewing…

Iron-Man-3-with-Robert-Do-0101Big hype about the release of the new Ironman 3 trailer, countdowns and exclusive images released all over the Internets and now it is out. The first Ironman movie release set a benchmark of what comic book movies should be, good action, a little tongue in cheek and story told well. It is after all a book about a man who flies around in a suit of armor, so disbelief can be suspended and it becomes a good popcorn muncher… Unlike the grind of the Batman movies and the huge missed opportunity that was the Green Lantern film. The question is from the trailer does Ironman 3 live up to classic of the original – see the trailer after the jump.

In many ways it looks like it does, I’m not a huge fan of go bigger or go home movie making, but I did pop when I saw all the armors in action and as Tony’s Marvel film world expands we are getting nods towards War Machine (now in Iron Patriot colors) and my dear hope that we see Pepper in her Rescue Armor. I am sure Robert Downey Jr is more than capable of taking Tony from his irrelevant narcissist self to a much darker driven path in this movie and I love Sir Ben Kingsley’s scenery chewing in this trailer.

Looks like we have a good movie on our hands here, doesn’t feel like all the good bits are in the trailer and we are in for a good ride. Now enjoy the trailer below.

Tristan the Teddy Bear, now a little Bear at a whole new scale

Tristan's Assemble!

Tristan’s Assemble!

With great thanks to the amazing sculpting skills of the Sweets Fairy I can now bring Tristan and his companions to you at a whole new scale! These 2.5″ hand sculpted Tristan’s are really cool and come as Tristan the Teddy Bear or Tristan the Defender.

Sculpted from polymer clay they are completely child safe and allow you to take Tristan into new places to protect you from the Monsters under the Bed. Take a look at the pictures of this brand new addition to the Teddy Bear Tales and we will be debuting these Bears (along with Wilma) at the Eastern Shore Fan Con on March 9. Marvel at the most startling swamp creature illustration of them all The Man-Thing

The Startling Man-Thing by Nick Davis

The Startling Man-Thing by Nick Davis

Today I was challenged to draw a Giant Sized Man-Thing by ingenious show promoter Ben Penrod. To be honest I wasn’t sure if I could do it as it’s an awfully large piece of paper to fill and it has actually been a long time since I’ve drawn anything that large; choosing instead to concentrate on my growing Cuddly Sketch Card range. But with a little encouragement I grabbed the bull by its horns and gave it go. The techniques are not much different to what I’ve been using in my more furry range of illustrations and the Man-Thing is extraordinary creation to draw. After looking at a lot of reference images I picked up my pencil and set out to create Man-Thing. From time starting to watercolor completion this illustration took me approximately three and a half hours. Below are my the work in progress images.

What if Batman’s parents died in a different way?

whatifbatmanBopping around the internet’s today I ran across this fun little article over on the io9 website, a series of fun little strips of what would happen in Batman’s parents had died in a very different way. Given the death of his parents is Batman’s primary driving force on his quest these interpretations are really good click the link here to view them all.

DA14 is a coming so don’t forget to duck!

Da14It is worth about $195 billion in mineral resources, is about 150 meters in length and is going to pass within 17,500 miles of us – which is really, really close! It you live in North America you’re not going to see it, but most of the world will be able to look up with good pair of Binoculars and see a shiney object streak through the night sky. Now DA14 is supposed to miss us, something they keep saying repeatedly, but… But… Would they say is going to hit if it was? This asteroid is about the same size as the one rumored to have caused the Tunguska event. Now that flattened about 800 square miles of trees and the effects were seen all over the world. Now most likely they are right this rock is going to miss I guess we will know by this time tomorrow as its flyby is going to happen tonight… Click Here to learn more about this Celestial Event

Marvel at the Pixar styled Superheroes the collectable card editions pretty damn nifty…

Cap-America-PixarAround the time Disney announced they brought Marvel the internet lit up with Disney Characters and Marvel Superheroes mash-ups. Over this period I saw some pretty cool stuff and some not so cool stuff, a lot of creativity to highlight, to parody, to satirize the dangers of Disney controlling a bastion of creativity such as Marvel. Today while knocking around the Internets I stumbled upon Pixar-Style versions of Superheroes and they look pretty damn good… Of course I included Cap which you can see above and another favorite the Phoenix below after the jump.
