Tristan and I met the one the books creators and Piggy the Three Legged Dog (lovely dog by the way really soft) at Baltimore Comic Con, and caught up with them again at Annapolis comic con.

They are current on book three of a four-part mini-series, the book is entertaining for all ages although it is written for ages 6 – 10. If you bump into A Piggy’s Tale at a convention, buy the book and help out a great cause.

You can also pick up the book at Piggytale.com

Inktense Teddy Bear Orioles Baseball Player #wewontstop #inktober

Orioles Baseball Teddy Bear by Nick Davis

Orioles Baseball Teddy Bear by Nick Davis

Based off my day ten inktober sketchcard of a Teddy Bear Baseball player (view the gallery here) I applied my Derwent Inktense pencils to add a little local color.

And thus my Orioles Baseball Teddy Bear was born as a tribute to how well Baltimore Orioles are doing, well done chaps! Don’t understand the game, but you seem to be playing rather well.

Our Teddy Bear Batter was finished in faber-castell ink pens and will be available as a sketchcard print at the next couple of conventions you can find me at! Which in this case will be Annapolis Comic Con.

My #inktober Challenge… 31 Days… 31 Original Inked Sketch Cards…

Batbear by Nick Davis

Batbear by Nick Davis

The month of October is now known as Inktober, a special event for artists to draw just using ink. The bare bones of this event is you must draw one original ink art piece a day (full marathon), or every other day (if you want to do the half-marathon).

I have decided to take up this challenge and I have just completed day six (at time of writing), heading into day seven. I am going for the full marathon, and to make it a little more fun I am limiting myself to sketchcard size art pieces and trying to keep the creation process under twenty minutes. So far though it is working out well.

My progress so far…

Tristan the Teddy Bear went Retro at Retrocon 2014

Tristan the Teddy Bear at RetroCon 2014

Tristan the Teddy Bear at RetroCon 2014

It has been a week since RetroCon 2014 and enough time to collect my thoughts and give a quick overview of the event from my little section of it.

The Cosplay

Tristan the Teddy Bear meets Poison Ivy & Catwoman Cosplayers

First off I am sure you’ve all checked out the RetroCon Cosplay post, although most of the pictures are from day one, some of the second day pictures made their way into the post which is good. Because I am experiencing some difficulties retrieving all the pictures from the second day of this event. I will post them when I get them.

How did it go?
Tristan the TEddy Bear goes Minecraft

Tristan the TEddy Bear goes Minecraft

I will admit in terms of trade I have had better shows, RetroCon is still very much a Toy show and I a lot of the people there were after that fix for their classic toy collections. While the convention is seeing more artists, and comic culture, it still has a long way to go before it becomes an all-encompassing pop culture show. I have no doubt it will make it.

What did you take?

Well along with the usually Teddy Bear Tales gear I sat down and drew six super-deformed Transformers to add to the Cuddly Sketch Card range.

Super Squashed Soundwave
Super Squashed Rachet
Super Squashed Optimus Prime
Super Squashed Megatron
Super Squashed Bumblebee
Super Squashed Starscream

Did you do some art?

Yes I did, every show I attend I normally a few unique art pieces, and this event was no different. Check out the gallery below. Remember these piece will never be duplicated, and will be available until they are gone forever.

Totally random Retrocon pictures

What is going to follow now is a small total random series of pictures in a gallery from Retrocon 2014.

So will you return?

Out of state conventions are difficult things to judge, I suspect if there isn’t a local show conflicting I will return to RetroCon next year and bring more Teddy Bear goodness to the show. See y’all soon!

News Release – Tristan the Teddy Bear Goes to Hollywood

Tristan, Wilma and Fernando ride the Teddy Bear Tales Toy Train

Tristan, Wilma and Fernando ride the Teddy Bear Tales Toy Train

Tuesday, September 30 2014 – Tristan the Teddy Bear, the Teddy Bear Tales, Wilma, Archer and Fernando of the Cuddly Defenders and the Imagination Adventure books were signed up on Friday, September 25, 2014 by a Hollywood Literary Agent from a successful Agency with a track history of getting properties produced, and on the screen.

The Teddy Bear Tales are now signed to a six month shopping agreement, allowing the Agent to show Tristan and friends to various studios and productions companies as a possible future film/animated show.

As the Creator of the Teddy Bear Tales I am very excited about this development for my characters, it is more than I ever hoped for and the possibilities of bringing Tristan and the Cuddly Defenders into every child’s home is an amazing thought.

This is of course the first step on a long road, and Hollywood is a fickle town when it comes to productions, it is hard not to ignore what this all could mean for Tristan’s future.

It has been a lot of hard work on my part, and on part of my artist Dan Nokes to get to this very unexpected point. Fingers crossed… And ever onwards into wonder and beyond!

Arigato,

Nick Davis
