Review and Giveaway: Grey Dawn by Clea Simon

Grey_Dawn

I was thrilled when the sixthbook in the DulcieSchwartz mystery series, featuring the Harvard graduate student, along with her kitten Esme and the spirit of her departed cat, Mr. Grey, arrvied in my mailbox. I’m a huge fan of the series, and I’ve learned from reading the first five books that once Igot started with Grey Dawn, I would have a hard time putting it down, so I planned accordingly.

In this book, we still find Dulcieworking on her doctoral thesis about an incomplete gothic novel writ...

Allegra and Ruby Love (Most) Household Chores

cats_and_household_chores

Household chores are at the verybottom of my list of things I enjoy doing.I’m fortunate that I have two feline helpers who make the whole process a lot more fun each week, because they seem to think that some aspects of household chores are actually kitty playtime.

At the top of the list is changing the sheets. Allegra is particularly adept at this particular task. She loves to “ride the mattress” when I turn it. Then she dives under the fitted sheet as I try to fasten it to the mattress. Once...

Memorial Day: A Day to Remember Lost Loved Ones

cat_collage_memory

To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. ― Thomas Campbell

Today is Memorial Day in the United States, a day when we honor the memory of the men and women who have died in military service.

For many people, it’s also a day to remember all departed loved ones, and for most of us, that includes our beloved felines. I’m remembering Amber, Buckley and Feebee today. All three of them changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. I miss them every day, and I treasure the legacy they’ve...

Conscious Cat Sunday: 7 Habits of Happy Cats and Humans

7_habits_of_happy_humans_and_cats

Contrary to what many people believe, happiness is a choice. Happy people are happy because they make themselves happy. They maintain a mostly positive outlook, and practice habits that make their lives happier. Not surprisingly, our cats already practice many of these habits.

1. Live in the present.

Cats live in the moment. When they’re lazing about in a sun puddle, they don’t worry about when the next sun puddle will show up – they simply enjoy the pleasure of the warmth on their fur, right...

Mews and Nips: Blind Kitten Charms BlogPaws Attendees

blind_kitten

If you’ve seen some myphotos from BlogPaws, you’ve probably seen me hold a little grey blind kitten in a few of them. Odilia captured the hearts of many BlogPaws attendees, and I thought you’d like to hear more about her. Connieof Tails from the Foster Kittens brought little Odilia to BlogPaws all the way from Maine. Connie had very little information about Odilia when she rescued her from a shelter. ReadOdilia’s Story to learn more about this special little girl.

Review: One Hot Murder by Lorraine Bartlett

One Hot Murder Lorraine Bartlett

One Hot Murder is the third book in the charming Victoria Square mystery series by Lorraine Bartlett, but in the interest of full disclosure, despite the adorable cover, this is not a cat-themed book. The protagonist,Katie Bonner, shares her apartmentwithtwo cats, and they’re mentioned briefly here and there in the book.I will admit that the cutecover reeled me in at the bookstore, and despite the lack of cats in this book, I loved it, and wanted to share it with you. Additionally, I’m a big...
