Ask the Cat Doc: How to Get a Cat to Exercise, Cat Cries in the Middle of the Night, and More
Welcome to our regular “Ask the Cat Doc With Dr. Lynn Bahr” segment! Once a month, Dr. Bahr answers as many of your questions as she can, and you can leave new questions for her in a comment.
Dr. Bahr graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Unlike most veterinarians, she did not grow up knowing that she would become a veterinarian. “It was a cat who got me interested in the practice and I am forever grateful to him,” said Dr. Bahr. Over the course of he...

Sunday Quotes: Discovery
A common theme in conversations about how people are coping with the pandemic seems to be that we’re all discovering new things – and for most of us, that’s hopefully one of the good things coming out of these challenging times.
Maybe you’ve discovered a new hobby that you never had time for? Maybe spending so much time at home has inspired you to redecorate? Maybe you’re finally reading all the books that have been piling up in your to be read pile?
I’ve discovered that I like cooking and ba...

Mews and Nips: Amsterdam’s Floating Cat Sanctuary
If international travel becomes safe again, the Poezenboot (Catboat) in Amsterdam is one of the places on my list of dream destinations. Forbes recently did a feature on this floating cat sanctuary, which has been in existence since 1966. It can accommodate up to 50 cats, and is open to visitors. For more about the Poezenboot and more wonderful photos, visit Forbes.com.
If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Sunday, I talked about the impo...

Cat Glass Sculptures

How stunning are these tortoiseshell cat glass sculptures? They are created by Connecticut based husband and wife glass blowers Leslie French and Andy Pile. Each of these palm sized cats is unique.
Leslie adds powdered colored glass to the colorless molten glass gathered from the furnace, creating a variety of cat- like colors. Then Andy shapes and pulls the glass into the iconic Sleeping Cat pose.

Allegra and the New Quilt
You know that wonderful feeling you get when you buy something your cat really, really loves? I got to experience that a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn’t even with a cat product. I ordered a new quilt to spruce up my tired old sofa, and Allegra thinks it’s the best thing ever. But why don’t I let her tell you herself.
Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! The other day, Mom opened this big box, and took out a really pretty looking quilt. I wasn’t sure what she was going to do with it, but I was intrigu...

Sunday Quotes: Recharge
I couldn’t find any attribution for the above quote, but it hit a nerve. I for one spend far too much time on my phone, and not enough time recharging!
I’ll be recharging big time this weekend: I’m going on a little getaway to my friends’ beautiful weekend house near the river. We’re planning on relaxing on their screened in porch, taking boat rides on the river, and eating my friend’s amazing cooking.
Of course, this visit will be a little different from previous trips to my “happy place.” No...
