Mews and Nips: Girl’s PowerPoint Presentation Convinces Parents to Get Her a Cat
A Twitter user recently shared the PowerPoint presentation his daughter made to convince her parents to get a cat. The girl’s arguments were so compelling that the tweet collected 16,000 likes in three days and hundreds of comments from people asking the dad to allow his daughter to adopt a cat. Even Microsoft chimed in with a “a very compelling presentation! She has us convinced” tweet. For more about the presentation and the responses, visit NDTV.

Review: Cat vs. Cat by Pam Johnson-Bennett
Pam Johnson-Bennett is one of the best known cat behaviorists in the world. She began making house calls to work with clients on cat behavior problems in 1982 and had her first book published in 1990. Since then, she has led the way as an inspiration and mentor to many in the cat behavior profession and her books have been used as texts for professional behavior courses.
Cat vs. Cat: Keeping the Peace When You Have More Than One Cat was first published in 2004. It is still the definitive guide...

Now Available: The 2021 Conscious Cat Wall Calendar
Back by popular demand, our 2021 Conscious Cat Wall Calendar, featuring my beautiful Allegra, is now available for purchase!
Putting the calendar together was a bit bittersweet this year. Allegra and I went back and forth on whether to include photos of Ruby, but decided that ultimately, while Ruby is still very much a part of our lives every day, this was Allegra’s time to be in the spotlight – but you just may find Ruby’s presence here and there.
To my knowledge, this is still the only cale...

Lockdown with Cats: How Cats Support Their Humans During Challenging Times
Those of us sharing our lives with cats already know just how much these beautiful creatures enrich our lives. Never has this been more true than during these unprecedented times. When the British travel website Telextext Holidays recently asked me to write an article about lockdown with pets, I jumped at the opportunity.
As hard as these last six months have been, I can’t even imagine what they would have been like if it wasn’t for Allegra’s loving presence.

New Sleepypod Limited Edition Color: First Blush
I consider Sleepypod carriers the cadillac of cat carriers in terms of design, safety and ease of use. I also think the fact that they’re simply gorgeous is a big plus, as it will allow design-conscious cat guardians to make the Sleepypod a regular part of their living space, which will make life less stressful for cats when it’s time to get into the carrier. And now, their entire line of carriers comes in a gorgeous new color: First Blush.
Our friends at Sleepypod were kind enough to send us ...

Sunday Quote: A Better Future
We’re six months into this pandemic now, and the future doesn’t look any more certain than it did when all of this first started. But then, I suppose, that’s always the case. We never know what the future will bring. It just feels so different right now because we’re dealing with uncertainty at unprecedented levels.
Some days, the fear and uncertainty get to me, but I really try to not let myself get dragged own into the darkness. When I can take a longer and broader view of current events, I...

Mews and Nips: Kitten with Unusual Markings is Thriving with Foster Mom
When Melissa of Tiny But Mighty Kitten Rescue in Cornwall, Ontario was contacted about a tiny kitten found on a sidewalk, she immediately offered to help. She was already fostering a pregnant stray, and after bottle feeding the orphaned kitten for two weeks, the nursing mom accepted the kitten and took care of her as one of her own. The kitten’s unusual coloring is actually known as “fever coat.” Fever (or stress) coat occurs when the mother cat is ill with a high fever or stress during pregna...

All New and Updated Product Guide
We first launched our product guide three years ago, and have kept it updated since, but it was starting to look pretty dated, and it was time for a face lift. Allegra and I have worked very hard on updating this guide for the past couple of weeks, and Allegra made sure I included all of her favorites.
Our guide features all of the best products for cats and cat lovers. From cat furniture, scratching posts, beds and toys to food dishes, fountains and litter boxes, you’ll find everything you ...
