Broad distribution

Much as I love Amazon and the excellent service they provide to independent authors, I have also joined forces with Smashwords, who have distributed, in eBook form, all my novels and The Commode Companion to major retailers just about everywhere. Now the books are available at Barnes & Noble, Kobo, iTunes, Scribd, most libraries in English-speaking countries, and a dozen or so retailers I’ve not heard of. It is my hope that this broader distribution will turn me into the overnight success for which I’ve been waiting the past decade. So, please tell friends who eschew Amazon that a new world awaits. They may now buy my books from their favorite retailer at exceedingly modest prices. Or from Amazon.

From Rolf, your humble scrivener

War after the Gobbler?

After combat with the turkey, how about a bargain war story feast? Amazon is offering the Kindle version of Public Information at $2.99 beginning on November 25th.

War story. Love story. Military humor. How the Korean war began and why it still continues. 19 year old Wylie Cypher lands in Korea in 1952 as the war rages. But he's lucky and avoids the front lines...for a while.

Indelible characters populate the book that veterans have praised for "Telling it like it was." Publishers Weekly says the author "brings the disparate elements of his plot to a satisfactory conclusion."

An Amazon best seller, the book rates 4.5 stars. Recently presented in a second edition, the book includes recently disclosed information, and scenes and observations drawn from the comments of many veteran readers.

Public Information is a perfect gift for warriors, military buffs, and people who enjoy good, clear, exciting writing.

Two things

I've just added some new photos to my blog, and updated my whereabouts the past month or so -- at rolfmargenau.blog

On the writing side, Amazon is offering a discounted price on the second edition of my Korean War novel beginning on November 25th. So, while you are recovering from Thanksgiving, you can pick up a Kindle copy of this best selling book for a mere $2.99.

Here's the blurb:

War story. Love story. Military humor. How the Korean war began and why it still continues. 19 year old Wylie Cypher lands in Korea in 1952 as the war rages. But he's lucky and avoids the front lines...for a while.

Special holiday markdown to $2.99. A perfect gift for warriors, military buffs, and people who enjoy good, clear, exciting writing.

Bonus chapter from National Parks

The chapter about how John Muir persuaded Teddy Roosevelt to designate more national parks is now on my blog. My editor cut that chapter because it wasn't snarky like the rest of the novel. But it's an important moment in our nation's environmental history. The moment closely follows historical facts.

More Blog

A couple more essays on my blog--Miraculous Mysteries and Blind Hogs and Acorns.

Not about writing, politics, or sex.

About birds, sky, flowers, and sunsets. So far.

My New Blog

Succumbing to the incessant demands of my little dog, Luci-fur, I gave her a new leather bone and began my blog. She likes the bone but seems dubious about the blog. It's as though she never even asked for it!

Anyway, the blog is about words, photographs, random musings and, maybe, some stiff about how the latest novel, Longevity, is coming along.

To see what Luci-fur is sneering at, here it is

No politics!

Exhausted by the unending stream of comments, headlines, fake news, lies, alternative facts, nonsense, and confusion from Washington? How about a good, old fashioned rollicking war novel about the Korean War? Learn some history while enjoying what The New York Review of Books called a "Modern Candide. Warm and funny. Veterans and adult readers love it."

Best of all, beginning tomorrow for a brief few days, the Kindle book is available for 99 cents at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Public-Informa...

Enjoy the read!

Antidote

Inept White House and spineless politicians making you crazy? An ocean of lies washing away your faith in people? Need a good laugh?

See how it all turns out in the near future. Read my dystopian novel about what happens in DC a few years from now, when Congress needs to bail out a bankrupt America by selling off its national parks.

It's scary, like right now, but it ends well with a lot of laughs along the way.
