LitNuts

LitNuts aren't that crazy after all. They selected War story as one of the best Indies (not geographically, but a book by an independent author). Thank you Nuts!

Giveaway results

I want to thank the over 1200 people who expressed an interest in my just-published War Story. Perhaps I'm biased, but I think it's a good yarn. The cover, however, shows what readers can expect and has received many favorable comments for which my designer and I thank you.

I've known my designer a long time, since her birth, in fact. Since she's my daughter, I guess that's not surprising. She has many talents, but I didn't realize what an excellent designer she is. For War Story, I was thinking of a cover with American and Nazi flags with garish red and black backgrounds.

She tactfully pointed out that the novel was about people, not flags. The library of congress has hundreds of thousands of copyright-free photos available, so I rooted through the World War II ones and found images that depicted the book's four main characters. Cory (short for Coralyn) used them for the cover.

If you have any comments about the cover, I'll pass them on.

Summer Garden

I'm about to launch my sixth novel, War Story, and there will be more about that later. Many of my friends say they enjoy my blog that only occasionally talks about my books. It contains mainly random musings and photos. The latest one is here: www.rolfmargenau.blog.

New Web site

I guess every cloud has a silver lining. The Covid shutdown encouraged me to take a fresh look at my somewhat aged website and work with a designer to make it, I hope, more appealing.
You can see it at www.RolfMargenau.com.

My other blog

Two years ago, I began an occasional blog that contains thoughts NOT about my novels, my political views, or pithy observations about ephemera. It's become a bit of a travelog about favorite places (mainly my backyard) visited, creatures I've met, and friends made along the way. There was a time when I made a living as a nature photographer, so there are pictures too. If you want to look, it's www.rolfmargenau.blog.

Master Gardener Giveaway

Goodreads is running a giveaway for my recently revised Master Gardener novel that ends in January. It’s probably my best-selling novel, and although it covers serious environmental issues, is a fun read. The problems Wylie and his friends discover still exist—in spades (Master Gardener pun). If you can’t wait until January to find out if you won a copy, why not skip a fancy Starbucks latte and buy one? Enjoy the read!

Longevity

When I began writing this novel, I didn't know it would take longer to complete that the gestation period for an elephant. However, it is finally available here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...

It's a thriller/medical mystery/fantasy/romance--defying all niche genres.

In Longevity, Lucy Mendoza leads a team of scientists at the Prendergast Foundation who are testing an enzyme that might extend our lives by thirty years. For several reasons, the federal government, a major pharmaceutical company, and a billionaire investor have no qualms about eliminating Lucy to ensure that project will fail. Her former lover Grant Duran, an ex-Marine special ops officer who’s lost a hand and is now a molecular biologist, thwarts the first attempt on her life. As dead bodies accumulate and Lucy and Grant struggle to defend themselves, they begin to wonder whether the Longevity project should survive.

Early readers have enjoyed the plot twists and the imaginative disposal of major characters. I need reviews! Contact me for a free copy.
