On 9/11 anniversary, Focus on the Family keeps fighting 21st century's real enemy

Yesterday, while a nation both honored the 9/11 fallen and fretted over potential wars to come, Focus on the Family's Citizenlink arm ran yet another report on why we must keep fighting gay taxpayers from achieving legal parity. Even more offensive, they shrouded their "protect marriage" piece in the American flag:

In a way, 9/11 and marriage (in)equality have run parallel courses. When 21st century history books are written, both will be at...

Audio: Latest 'American Family Association Minute' is disgusting even for AFA

Gay people can never be happy because we are in rebellion against God. And in fact, getting married will probably make gay people's "torturous predicament" even worse.

This is airing on conservative Christian radio stations around the nation:

My happily married heart breaks for the scared LGBT kids who will hear this blaring from their parents' car radios.

Former AFA staffer: Bryan Fischer speaks 'like a drunk uncle at a wedding'

Change is possible:

201309111627

"Look at the lunacy pouring out of the Christian right. Don Wildmon claims to defend marriage, but endorses twice divorced, three times married Newt Gingrich for president. Mat Staver and Matt Barber of the Liberty Counsel are out there invoking Jerry Sandusky to support the medieval notion that you can "pray the gay away."

And, of course, Bryan Fischer is like a drunken uncle at a wedding who must continually be outrageous in hopes that someone will pay attention.

Why is thi...

Oh the irony: Anti-gay bakery owner attacked 'Bully' movie; gay acceptance is 'a LIE,' 'communist mind set'

You know Aaron Klein, the co-owner of that Oregon Bakery (Sweet Cakes by Melissa) that is claiming to be the victim of bullying simply because his business was told it had to comply with his state's nondiscrimination laws? Yeah, well—look at what one of the far-right's newest "victims" posted to his public Facebook wall earlier this year:

So we gay folk are not fit for cakes, anti-bully initiatives, or even basic acceptance. Anything else, Mr. Klein, or is this where your conclude yo...

Video: 'The homosexual agenda is all about…killing Christians'

Nero was himself a gay marriage advocate who killed the Apostle Paul, proving that the modern gay rights movement is "violent, destructive, and evil" to the point where our primary drive is to kill Christians. So claims this new spin on that popular pastime of using faith to stigmatize an entire minority population:

FRC needs ca$h so it can fund LGBT people's 'healing'

The Family Research Council is currently in the middle of a fundraising campaign, hoping to raise over three million dollars by month's end. To do this, they are doing what FRC does most reliably: telling Americans that LGBT people are destructive and in need of healing:

(Highlighting is my own)

Well, we actually agree on one thing: We LGBT people have neither "lifestyles" or "preferences;" we have lives, orientations, and identities.

Raise thirty million d...

Yup, Ms. Chan—you're free to call me 'disgusting'; I'm free to let people know

Screen Shot 2013-09-11 At 9.28.07 AmThe anti-gay San Antonio council member who made vicious remarks about "disgusting" homosexuality is doing what sayers of anti-gay things so often do: she's hiding behind a "free speech" claim. Video report at link:

Elisa Chan says anti-gay remarks are free speech [MySanAntonio.com]

She's of course right—no government official can or should limit her right to speak out against LGBT people. But what the hell does that have to do with anything?! Just like she has the right to say bad things, we h...

Southern Baptists continue to define selves by anti-gay exclusion

Gay soldiers who happen to have committed themselves to the Southern Baptists will have to look elsewhere if they want a member of the clergy to recognize their commitment to their loving spouses (or spouses-to-be):

So now we have this church coming out against those who both serve their nation with honor and pledge a commitment to their one true love. Keep fighting the real enemy, SBC!

Brian Brown: Gays are 'oppressors'

The National Organization For Marriage exists for the sole purpose—THE. SOLE. PURPOSE!—of denying gay people of certain civil rights. Brian Brown, NOM's president, has spent his entire professional career working for this purpose, first with the Connecticut Family Institute, where he (unsuccessfully) tried to stop both civil unions and marriage, and now with NOM.

Brian also once encouraged parents to attend an "ex-gay" seminar in order to "prevent your child from embracing this destructive way...

Audio: Anti-gay conservative still pretending 2012 elections never happened

In a gripe session in which he and fellow anti-LGBT voice Matt Barber condemn "radical" Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for gay-marrying our nation toward Gomorrah, Liberty Counsel attorney Daniel Schmidt makes the following claim about how our nation has voted on marriage:

[FULL AUDIO: Liberty Counsel]

First the minor correction: It's thirteen states *PLUS* D.C. With D.C., we have fourteen. And minimize that all you want, but it's an astounding number of states—a number we achieved i...
