'Advocate' scoops 'Onion'; LGBT mag chooses Pope Francis as person of the year
Wouldn't have been my choice:
The Advocate's Person of the Year: Pope Francis [The Advocate]
To be perfectly frank (as opposed to Francis), as a non-Catholic who thinks there is far too much faith encroachment in our public life, I've never understood why I'm constantly told that I must care about the Pope and his dealings. I kind of don't.
And, of course, as a gay man who understands that the Catholic church remains the single most organized opponent against LGBT equality—and not just marriage...

For that person on your list who loves coffee, special interest swag, discrimination
The Family Research Council's rhetoric certainly brings to mind something that is both brown and steaming. Now, just in time for Christmas, FRC wants to play host to another brown, steaming product:
[SHOP: The official mug of one of America's most viciously anti-LGBT organizations]
A home for empty calories that make me jittery? Perfect product for you, FRC!
Although one note of caution: The mug reportedly shatters on impact whenever you try to pour a packet of Equal into it. Stick with the (fal...
NOM lowers bar on 'amazing' accomplishments
Almost every day for the past several months (and sometimes two or three times a day), the anti-gay, anti-equality, pro–wrong-side-of-history organization that does business as the National Organization For Marriage has begged its supporters for cash. Claiming to have finally crossed the $500k mark, NOM is now framing the accomplishment as an "amazing" feat worthy of fireworks:
[NOM]
Amazing? Really? I mean, even if we take them at their word, this isn't like some big win. They asked for money...
But this is what your unchecked agenda looks like, Bryan
Linking to the story about the Russian actor who says all gay people should be burned alive, one the United State's most rhetorically vicious opponents of LGBT rights and freedom tweeted the following:
No, most voices of anti-LGBT animus don't want to burn gays alive. Obviously.
But this senior American Family Association staffer is someone who, after addressing and casually stopping short of a death penalty, has called for gay people to be...
Scott Lively chooses campaign motto; 'Crimes. Against. Humanity.' lost out
You likely know that Scott Lively, one of the most proudly anti-LGBT people working in the public sphere, is making a soon-to-be-losing bid for governor of Massachusetts. What you might not have heard is the motto that he, the man currently on trial for crimes against humanity, chose for his campaign:
His campaign motto is "Qualified. Experienced. Electable." Publicly available campaign finance records show he has about $3,000 in his coffers, including a $2,000 loan to himself. [SOURCE: The R...

Nope, it's *not* about cake (or much sweetness at all)
The Family Leader's David Barnett is absolutely right that the Colorado baker situation is not really about cake. Unfortunately, he's completely wrong about what it is about:
The right to free speech and freedom of religion as guaranteed by the First Amendment has been ruled by an activist judge to be subject to the feelings of a particular people group. Judge Spencer said in the ruling:
“It may seem reasonable that a private business should be able to refuse service to anyone it chooses,” he r...
We are 'for' marriage demands org that's never done one thing that truly supports marriage
The National Organization for Marriage talks and fights against same-sex marriage—daily and in full. In its six years of existence, this organization has never proposed one measure that limits divorce, ensures marital success, or in any way "strengthens" the institution. They have, however, taken away people's rights and continue to fight for a full agenda that, if left to its own unchecked devices, would see people like me legally divorced from our spouses.
But when Pope Francis talked about...

Video: Pat Robertson warns of contagious lesbianism
Listen in as a 700 Club viewer and its host have an on-air conversation about how to properly quarantine viral lesbian so that it doesn't spread throughout the home:
Oh please. Just don't drink or use the toilet after she does and you probably won't catch it.
Sheesh, anti-gay evangelicals can be *such* hypochondriacs.

GLAAD: Bob Newhart, don't become the next Kirk Cameron!
The anti-LGBT movement's goal is our criminalization. Stop pretending otherwise.
If you don't believe that the American far-right would love to reinstate bans on homosexuality, you simply are not paying attention. Check out these new comments from the executive director of the legal organization that represents the other side in most every court case we face:
"When given the same choice the Supreme Court of the United States had in Lawrence vs. Texas, the Indian Court did the right thing," says [Benajmin Bull, executive director of Alliance Defending Freedom Global], which...
