On day Uganda law passes, driving force behind it presents his 2014 plan for America
Scott Lively is best known as one of the guiding voices behind the unbelievably chilling, truly nightmarish anti-homosexuality law that the Uganda Parliament just passed. And now, even as he faces a trial for "crimes against humanity," conservative media outlet WorldNetDaily (or WND as it's supposedly now know, although no one calls it that) is giving Mr. Lively a platform to present his plans for American in 2014 and beyond. This involves "taking back the rainbow" (do we own it?), changing t...
Video: Students walkout of Catholic high school in support of gay, married principal; yay, future
We know that both Catholics, despite their leadership, and young people, despite grownup baggage, tend to support equality in heightened numbers. Here's what those truths look like when they come together at one Washington high school:

Uganda Parliament passes its chilling anti-homosexuality bill
The Uganda Parliament just passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, 2009, which allows for life imprisonment of people convicted of "homosexual acts."
Dr. Frank Mugisha, who has been at the forefront on the right side of the fight, sums it up:
Some perspective in a week of bad debate and fake victims.
Peace. On Earth?

Kudos to David Limbaugh for noting that #StandWithPhil is not a 'free speech' matter
Can't say I agree with much else he wrote. However, I am glad to see David Limbaugh stepping up as the first conservative I've seen to note the obvious about that weird an wacky reality TV situation we've all been talking about this week:
"Of course, this isn’t a violation of Robertson’s First Amendment rights, because the censorial actions emanated not from the government, but from a private company, which is not constitutionally barred from doing what it did."
—David Limbuagh, writing for WND...
FRC's final 'prayer targets' of '13: Prays Congress will roll back clock on 'destructive' LGBT rights
Like virtually all of their weekly "prayer targets" this year, the Family Research Council is closing out 2013 with yet another knee-based plea for God to stop LGBT people's basis rights and protections:
[FRC]
By opposing ENDA, FRC is supporting employers' ability to make employment determinations about an employee's company role based solely on his or her sexual orientation or gender identity. Interesting that they would highlight that, here in a week where they are so publicly rebuking a TV n...

Tony Perkins wants companies free to deny service to gays—but not to react to an employees' press statements?!? #StandWithPhil ?
Exceedingly anti-gay Family Research Council president Tony Perkins surely doesn't see the hypocrisy in this. I trust that you will:
"Phil Robertson has been targeted simply because he expressed his religious beliefs but there is a clear double standard that is being applied. Nothing was done when homosexual activist Dan Savage screamed profanities at Christian high school students and called them 'pansy-(expletive deleted).' However, when Christians simply say homosexuality is wrong and they...
BREAKING: New Mexico Supreme court rules in favor of marriage equality!
I'm just getting the word. Check back for updates.
**UPDATE: Here's the decision, which seems to have just made NM our seventeenth state:

Bob Newhart pulls out of anti-gay Legatus summit
I'm proud of this one:
Bob Newhart bows out of gig with anti-LGBT organization [GLAAD]
Love this man; love this decision.
**ICYMI: My initial post exposing Legatus' anti-gayness: Bob Newhart, don't become the next Kirk Cameron! [GLAAD}

Head of org. that leads national fight against *civil* marriage equality: Homosexuality is 'not logical,' 'degrading to the human soul'
Here is the latest from National Organization For Marriage president Brian Brown, the man who has leads the anti-equality movement in its opposition to civil marriage equality:
"Well guess what — homosexuality IS a sin in the bible, and virtually every other sacred text out there. Engaging in homosexual sex IS considered by God to be sinful according to the teachings of most religions. And sin is NOT logical. Sin is deceitful, harmful and degrading to the human soul."
—NOM prez Brian Brown, tak...
Phil Robertson unites Westboro Baptist and NOM (both #standWithPhil)
Equating gays with pedophiles, terrorists, and those who perform bestiality makes for strange bedfellows. Overnight, both the "God Hates F*gs" church and the organization that leads that anti-equality movement's national opposition to marriage equality have come out in support of the Duck Dynasty star who attacked gays and insinuated that blacks were just fine and dandy under Jim Crow laws:
