Iowa's governor signs truly unbelievable proclamation

A group calling itself "Prayer 7-14-14" thinks our nation is wicked and needs to be saved. This is how they describe it:

HISTORY & PURPOSE of 7-14-14

WE ARE A NATION, WHO HAS FALLEN FROM HER INTENDED PURPOSE, AND WE HAVE A GOD WHO IS PURSUING US BACK INTO OUR DESTINY… JUST AS HOSEA PURSUED GOMER, GOD IS PURSUING US

This is not about a single day of prayer, fasting and true repentance, but it is about a lifestyle journey of letting our hearts awaken and allowing God’s very breath to fill us. It i...

NOM's Chairman lends name to nakedly anti-gay book

The National Organization For Marriage's chairman has lent his endorsement to a new book from Catholic publishing house Ignatius Press:

So since Eastman is in a top seat at NOM and NOM is supposedly all about (and limited to) marriage, that must be what the book is limited to as well, right?

WRONG! The book is all about how "homosexual behavior" itself has essentially destroyed America. The book's arguments isn't that same-sex marriage is bad policy but rather that simply being gay is a destruc...

Billy Graham's granddaughter: Legacy has become anti-LGBT 'thanks to [son] Franklin'

Billy Graham's granddaughter, Jerushah Armfield, is currently on a book tour promoting a tome that she co-wrote to honor her granddad's legacy. After seeing a few puff pieces (Today, Morning Joe) that made no mention of the sad fact that Graham's legacy over the past few years has been hijacked for anti-LGBT purposes, I reached out to Ms. Armfield on Twitter. Her candor was unexpected yet appreciated:

You surely have seen Franklin, Billy's son, in the news or on sites like this one. Franklin i...

FRC blatantly lies to U.S. Senators

In a letter to the U.S. Senate, the shockingly duplicitous and reliably animus-driven Family Research Council uses LGBT rights as a way to trip up Michelle Friedland's confirmation to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. This is no huge surprise, since FRC is truly one of the most obsessively and rabidly anti-LGBT groups in all of the "culture war" kingdom. The fact that this organization maintains the access that it does is a blight on American politics.

But what...

Video: What, because Focus on the Family would hire and stick with a gay (or even pro-gay) CEO?

About that snarky closing quip about comments being closed? Yeah, well—

Audio: Heritage Foundation's Ryan Anderson to gay Californian: 'You can be issued a marriage license, but you can't get married'

The audience member asked him about tax parity between male/male, female/female, and male/female married couples, but Ryan was insistent on trying to trip him up with the idea of a "throuple." That's kind of a new thing the suddenly omnipresent marriage and family "expert" has been doing lately: glomming onto purposely provocative fragments of a "slippery slope" argument that he read about in liberal think pieces and demand in marriage equality activists answer for any number of things (e.g....

Anti-equality Catholics (and Regnerus funders) court Islamic allies

Robert George is the co-founder of pro-discrimination advocacy group the National Organization For Marriage, and Heritage Foundation fellow Ryan T. Anderson is one of the most visible young opponents of history's right side of the marriage equality issue. Later this year, they will be among the folks gathered at the also-George-founded Witherspoon Institute (which funded the bogus Regnerus study) for the purpose or fostering their Catholic-driven view on inequality within Islamic culture:

The real shame, Mark Creech, is that your side will never admit this kind of animus in court

CreechResponding to an ACLU-driven lawsuit that seeks to overturn North Carolina's discriminatory ban on marriage equality, longtime Tar Heel state foe-of-the-'mos Mark Creech says the following:

"Demanding that the state of North Carolina change its constitution to accommodate a lifestyle choice that not only mocks real marriage, the true building block of our society, but also attempts to turn a moral wrong into a civil right is farcical as well as shameful," he tells OneNewsNow. [ONN]

Which is of...

10th Circuit judges appear to be 2-1 in favor of peace, love, equality, progress, fairness, history...

According to most reports on today's 10th Circuit hearing, including this one from Chris Geidner, two of the three judges hearing the appeal on Utah's same-sex marriage ban are poised to side with the lower court and strike the damn thing down:

DENVER — The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals heard more than an hour of arguments Thursday morning over the question of same-sex couples’ marriages — with the three judges hearing the case being split on several key questions needed to be resolved but wit...

Photo: Sinclair Community College walks out on Peter LaBarbera (via @Gee_Kate)

When Sinclair Community College students and instructors heard that exceedingly anti-LGBT voice Peter LaBarbera was coming to speak on their Dayton, Ohio, campus, a great many of them came up with a novel form of protest. They showed up, apparently to give LaBarbera some sense of satisfaction, and then they just got up and walked out.

A pal from the area tipped me off to this funny form of protest earlier this afternoon; now here's photo proof, courtesy of a SCC teacher:
