My Writing Process Blog Tour
I'm following the lovely Adrianne James in this blog tour. Check out all of her info on www.adriannejames.com
At this very moment (in fact, all day today!) I've been working to finish my fourth book, Sway. It's the second in a collection of novels and novellas about the music industry called the Confession Records collection.
The way I try to make my work differ from a lot of stories in the romance genre is to give a very solid and strong female voice to my books. I love writing men but creating a strong heroine means a lot to me as I know the majority of my readers are women and I'd like to think that seeing a well-rounded, independent woman is better than some of the blank canvas characters I've read in romance in the past.
I write romance because I love LOVE! I like creating the moments between a couple and making the reader feel as though they are watching a real love story unfold. Yes, there are always going to be those over the top, shout from the rooftops, kiss in the rain moments that can only happen in books but when you get down to the nitty-gritty, my characters fall in love the way I did. Realistically.
When it comes to my writing process I start with a seed and write as much as I can with my initial idea. From there I tend to start to outline as the story continues and my outlines usually make themselves most useful when I'm in the very last few chapters. I like to write to music, usually with a glass of wine or a mug of black coffee!
So there you have it! My writing process in a nut-shell. Here's the newly revealed cover of Sway! It will be releasing on May 1st.
Up next week is Megan Thomason, author of the Daynight series. Check her out here ... www.meganthomason.com

Cover Reveal : Summer Sky by Lisa Swallow

Book title: Summer Sky by Lisa SwallowSeries: Blue Phoenix #1Genre: Contemporary romanceRelease date: April 2014 Cover designed by Najla Qamber Designs Photo by Lindee Robinson PhotographyModels: Madison Wayne & Chad Feyrer

Sky changed her life for a man once, and she has no intention of doing it again - even if he is a six foot, tattooed rock god who makes a mean bacon sandwich.
Sky Davis is fed up of boyfriend Grant taking her for granted and when she comes home to find him wearing a girl, Sky suspects the relationship is over. She takes an unscheduled holiday and leaves the life (and guy) she hates behind.
Rock star Dylan Morgan is struggling with fame and infamy, sick of his life being controlled by other people. Dylan cuts his hair and walks away from his role as lead singer of Blue Phoenix, leaving chaos and speculation behind.
Outside the English seaside town of Broadbeach their cars and worlds collide.
Sky decides Dylan is an arrogant guy with too many tattoos, and Dylan is amused by the smart-mouthed girl with no idea who he is. Dylan and Sky soon discover they’ve travelled to Broadbeach for the same reason - to escape from reality back to a place with happy childhood memories.
Losing themselves in a world where they know nothing about each other, Sky and Dylan begin a summer romance that soon heats up their rainy English summer.
Fantasies can’t last forever and when reality crashes the party, Sky isn’t sure she wants to be more than his ‘summer Sky’ but Dylan doesn’t want to let her go.
Returning to the real world and public scrutiny isn’t their only problem. Blue Phoenix bass player, Jem Jones, has a reason for wanting Sky out of Dylan’s life, and is determined to come between them. Some things won’t stay hidden, even when they’re paid to ‘go away’.
Summer Sky is a quirky romance where occasionally more than the bacon sizzles. This is the first in the new ‘Blue Phoenix’ series of contemporary rock star romances.
Please note: this is a romance with a rock star hero, and not an erotic rock star book!

"Sky! Waves!"
I have my back to the ocean and a wave crashes against my legs, destabilising me. I regain my footing and attempt to move before the retreating water sucks my feet into the sand. At that moment a larger wave wipes me completely, dragging my body underwater. I panic at the confusion of being pushed and pulled out of my control, seawater swirling hair into my face and the bubbles rushing into my ears. The shell remains tightly gripped in my hand.
As water draws away, I push my head free. Dylan stands on the edge of the shore, water lapping his ankles, laughing. I spit out sea water and stagger to my feet. The weight of the damp hoodie threatens to pull me down again as I push hair from my eyes.
"That was fucking funny! You should see your face!" He wades towards me, arm outstretched to help.
Attempting to keep my footing, I lunge at him and slap his hard chest with both palms. "It was not! Screw you!” Dylan catches my arms as I make contact, and pulls me towards him.
Scrutinizing my face briefly, Dylan takes my cheeks in his broad palms and crushes his lips against mine. I gasp again, but it's not the sea snatching my breath this time. A new wave sways us, and Dylan holds my face tightly, his own footing steady as his mouth claims mine. A small voice in my head asks what the hell I’m doing but I ignore it - Dylan overwhelms all common sense the moment I have any physical contact with him. Losing myself in his mint-flavoured kiss, in the slide of his cool tongue, I yield to the power he holds over me. Dylan curls his fingers into my wet hair and pulls me closer; I respond with a deep kiss, tracing fingers across his stubbled cheek.
Fierce or gentle, his kisses mould my soul to his as perfectly as his body shapes with mine, as if we’re in a place created by our coming together. Kissing Dylan last night pulled me into his orbit, and when I see stars again, I swear his kisses will always take me to the edge of his galaxy. If Dylan can remove me from reality with just this, god knows what anything else he's skilful at would do to me. The thought of us skin on skin, united through more than a kiss, lights a fire deep inside that would take more than the cold Cornish sea to extinguish.
Dylan loosens his grip on my hair and slides his hands across my damp back. He closes the final gap between us as our bodies meet, and I wish the rain-soaked clothes weren’t in the way. “I have never met anyone so…” He grasps for a word then gives up and rests his forehead on mine. “I feel as if I’ve waited my whole life to meet you and then suddenly you’re here.”
For a moment I consider whether he’s teasing me again, but I guess I’m very different to the people in his real life. "I can honestly say I've never met anyone like you, Dylan Morgan."
He wipes water from my cheek with cool, damp fingers. "No-one’s met Dylan Morgan apart from you. Not for a lot of years, anyway.”
I stare at the truth reflected in his pale blue eyes, unable to believe any of this is reality. His grip on my back loosens, and I step back. Rain drips down his face, soaking through his T-shirt and clinging to his body in a way that does nothing to help my mounting desire to get my hands on him.
A subject change is needed rapidly, before I begin drooling.

---------------------------------------An Interview With The Author
Tell us a little about yourself : I’m a mom of three teenage girls. I write full-time and I’m a coffee/Starbucks addict. I have a shopping addiction, especially when it comes to makeup, and I love to give readers an escape from the daily grind of life and into the world of romance.
What genre do you like to write? New Adult/Romance
What was the publishing/self-publishing process like for you? How did you decide which route was best for you? The only route I knew when I published Forever Black was self-publishing. The process was tricky because I knew absolutely nothing about publishing a book. I read some self-pub books and connected with some other authors who were a tremendous help to me and guided me! I will forever be grateful for everyone’s help!
Is there another genre you would like to try at some point?Young Adult
Do you have a writing ritual or a certain way you like to get ready to write? I have to have a cup of coffee sitting next to my laptop at all times!
Tell us about one of your characters you loved writing: I loved writing Connor Black. He was so damaged and refused to love that it was amazing to take him from that stage and evolve him into a man who found the love of his life and became an amazing husband and father.
Was there ever a time you felt like giving up? If so, what changed? I feel like giving up every day! But I stop and take a look at what I’ve accomplished the past year and keep on going!
What advice would you give to an aspiring author? Have all your ducks in a row before you hit the publish button. An editor, cover designer, proofreader, beta readers and most importantly, support!
What is your current obsession (absolutely anything)? My current obsession is makeup and skin care! I’m always buying and trying new products! I love makeup!
Tell us about one of your recent releases: My most recent release is Being Julia and it’s the 4th book in The Forever Trilogy. It’s about Connor and Ellery’s little girl, Julia, all grown up! It is a novella and her brother Collin will be getting his own full novel this summer!

Finding Lichgates Tour Stop

Heyo! S. M. Boyce here. I’m on this cozy blog today as part of my Finding Lichgates Blog Tour. My hosts are so awesome for letting me show you the stories of how some of my fans found Lichgates and the other books in the Grimoire Saga.
So, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the series, I think I should explain what a lichgate is. A lichgate is a portal that ties our world to the terrifying and beautiful world in my Grimoire Saga called Ourea. Lichgates can be found in remote places, and when you walk through a lichgate, the land you cross into is not what you would see if you’d simply walked around the portal.
For many fans, stumbling upon the first book in the Grimoire Saga is much like stumbling through a lichgate. That is why this tour is all about the fans and how they found their first lichgate into the world of the Grimoire Saga.
To see more Finding Lichgates Stories check out the blog tour schedule.
Meet Kathy. This is her Finding Lichgates Story:

I realize that I tripped over a lichgate myself when I found out that Boyce was so kind enough to lend me her book in exchange for a review. And what's not to like about getting FREE books? I'm a voracious reader if time allows. I can't wait for more adventures as they unfold, and that's why I kept reading the Saga. Keep it up, Boyce!

Kara Magari is about to discover a beautiful world full of terrifying things—Ourea.
Kara, a college student still reeling from her mother’s recent death, has no idea the hidden world of Ourea even exists until a freak storm traps her in a sunken library. With no way out, she opens an ancient book of magic called the Grimoire and unwittingly becomes its master, which means Kara now wields the cursed book’s untamed power. Discovered by Ourea’s royalty, she becomes an unwilling pawn in a generations-old conflict—a war intensified by her arrival. In this world of chilling creatures and betrayal, Kara shouldn’t trust anyone… but she’s being hunted and can’t survive on her own. She drops her guard when Braeden, a native soldier with a dark secret, vows to keep her safe. And though she doesn’t know it, her growing attraction to him may just be her undoing.
For twelve years, Braeden Drakonin has lived a lie. The Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when Kara Magari comes into his life. Though he begins to care for this human girl, there is something he wants more. He wants the Grimoire.
Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

Finding Charley by Casey Peeler

I just shake my head. Sometimes being sober isn’t fun. Hell, it never is, but tonight’s about cutting lose and staying in control.
We make our way to the bar and order Bud Lights all around plus my water. Then, it’s to the dance floor. The sound of Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones” echoes through the speakers, and we know exactly what to do. We hit the dance floor and go hard. It’s about us girls having a good time tonight. Here we don’t have to worry about some ass trying to interrupt or put moves on us that we don’t want. Hayden starts acting a fool by doing that damn sprinkler dance move, and I totally lose it. We all take turns goofing off and busting out old school moves.
When Drake’s “Started from the Bottom” comes across the speakers, we quit goofing off and start dancing our asses off. Before we know what’s going on, the entire baseball team is surrounding us and enjoying the view. Songs bleed from one to the next. Once sweat begins to drip down my back, I pull my hair up into a messy bun and continue to enjoy the night.
By song number four, a smokin’ hot baseball player has his strong hands wrapped around my waist. I swear I’ve just met Chipper Jones fifteen years ago! I continue to dance and take in the aroma of sweat and Dolce and Gabbana. Holy crap. I never thought those two things would go together. The songs change pace and begin to slow. I know I need to separate myself from him, because at this point I’m not looking for someone new. As I start to pull away, he grabs my hand and pulls me close.“Hey, Char, I’m Tucker, or can I call you Squirrel?” I must have looked like a damn deer in headlights because I completely froze. No one called me that but Joe. WTF? My breath begins to heighten, and I can feel sweat building under my arms. Tucker must have noticed as well. “Um, did I say something wrong? I thought that was your nickname?”
I swallow hard. “Well, that’s what Joe calls me.”
“So, is it okay if I call you that?” His eyes looked as sincere as they could with the amount of alcohol he had flowing in his veins. I shake my head no.
“I’d rather you not.”
“All right, but just so you know, he’s a complete idiot for letting you go that easy.” Here we go. Another night with my drama. What do I do? I have to get him to shut up about Joe before I freakin’ lose it. I take my hands and run them up his washboard stomach. I can feel every chiseled ab and indention. I look up at him, and he gets the point. Not one more word about Joe. As the song comes to an end, he pulls me in close and lifts my chin. “Like I said, he’s a fuckin’ idiot.” Then his lips brush mine.
My mind takes a moment to focus on what is going on. Warm, soft, hungry lips are covering mine. Tucker pulls away from me and kisses my forehead as the next song, “Roar” by Katy Perry, begins to play. I start to laugh inside thinking about Hayden and then I glance at the Kluft girls who are thinking the exact same thing. I smile at Tucker and make my way to the Kluft girls about the time the chorus begins, and we begin to sing at the top of our lungs. You would have thought our life depended on it.
I know it’s near closing time, which means the one song that always ends a night at Hank’s is about to be played. I push that thought to the back of my brain and just let loose for the next twenty minutes. When the first chord of “Let’s Get It On” begins to play, I back away from the dance floor. As I turn to walk away, piercing blue eyes are staring back at me. Joe. Joe’s here? My heart begins to hurt. I want to forgive him, but just can’t. Not yet.
Joe gives me no option. He takes my hand and guides me back to the dance floor. Georgia looks like she is shooting darts straight at him. He ignores her and wraps his arms around mine. I drop my head to his chest and tears begin to fall. Why can’t my nightmare end? Why?
We attempt to dance, but our worlds have stopped. He stands with his arms around my trembling body, and I look up to him as the song ends. Barely audible words escape his lips. “Squirrel, I’m here when you’re ready.”
I wipe the tears from my face as I pull myself from his embrace. I turn and leave him standing alone on the dance floor. The Kluft girls are waiting for me at the door. Georgia pulls me in for a hug. We exit Hank’s and pile into the Love Machine, and I don’t look back. As I take a deep breath, crank the van, and begin to pull out, I see Joe walking out of Hank’s. Our eyes meet, and I turn my head as quickly as possible. I do not want to feel any connection to Joe, but my heart tells me otherwise.Haven't ready No Turning Back?

Snappy Snappy
Something you may not know about me is I was a fine art photography student for two years in college and for a while I considered making that my career. I abandoned it to go to cosmetology school after realizing it wasn't what I wanted to do for a living but I never stopped loving being behind the lens. I'll snap the occasional artistic photo but I mostly drag out my former skills to do family portraits of my brother's family a few times a year. But most recently I dusted off my camera to shoot cover images for Natural Harmony and The Low Notes!
I knew I wanted to shoot the Natural Harmony cover photo myself not only to save money but also to keep myself from seeing the same stock photo on someone else's cover at some point in the future AND to ensure my vision was exact. A mutual friend stood in as my Sabrina and, after being stood up by my original male model, my second shooter and good friend Jeremy stood in as my Wade. I got a great cover out of the shoot and a handful of extra shots that I've since used as teaser photos. I even added to the story by describing the dress Olivia wore on the day of the shoot to a certain scene.
Here's a few of the shots that came from the day ...
And of course the cover ...
Here's me, Olivia and Jeremy on the day of the shoot giving our best 'model' faces. Jeremy makes me laugh too much so I could hardly keep it together. Olivia is clearly a blonde which made for some tricky Photoshop work for my cover artist, Jenny. She did a great job transforming Olivia into Sabrina.
Next up is the second edition cover of The Low Notes. I adored my original cover but unfortunately I couldn't retain the rights to it after leaving my publisher to self-publish. So I knew I wanted something very similar and I thought, how cool would it be to shoot the piano I learned to play on as my cover? I hopped over to my parents' house and took a few shots and then with the help of Miss Jenny, the second edition was born. As partial as I was to the original cover, this one is better to me. Not only is it more meaningful knowing it's my own photograph (which has more meaning than any reader will EVER know ;) ) and the piano I grew up playing, it's also been amended to be called 'A Wexley Falls Novel'. I'm so excited to expand on the Wexley Falls world and adding that subtitle was the very first step.
Thanks to my amazing cover artist, Jenny Streif, my models Jeremy Shoemaker and Olivia DePaulis, and to all the readers who have complimented me on both covers. I'm proud that more than just my writing went into both of these books.

Dawn Pendleton is a new adult author who began her writing journey in New England with her husband and their pup, though she recently moved to Georgia and promptly became a Southern Belle (or so she likes to think). When she isn't staring at a blank page, willing the words to jump from her head to the screen, she's usually playing on her iPhone, reading a book, or taking pictures with her fancy camera (which she has no idea how to use).
