Book Review: Angry Blonde
Angry Blonde by Maria Mroziuk: Forced to take immediate control over her life, Wylie recounts the haunting chain of events that led to her fall from grace.
She explains how she met her modern-day knight, how she eagerly grabbed his hand to join the descent down his crime-infused rabbit hole. She delves deeper through the winding tunnel of her traumatic adolescence, hoping to rid herself of her sins.
Angry Blonde is the confession of a girl who must learn how to create love and safety from fear and hatred.
This book will take you on a journey. I love the way it was written. I felt like I was hearing a true story of what life can throw at you and how you deal with it. This book is fiction but it leaves me questioning how much of it really is. I felt like I got sucked into someone's real life story with all the details of what went on. I loved that this book didn't feel fake most of all.

Book Review: Just Destiny
Just Destiny
by Theresa Rizzo: What would you do if your whole world fell apart?
Jenny Harrison made some poor choices in the past, but marrying Gabe was the best thing she’d ever done. They had the perfect marriage, until a tragic accident leaves Gabe brain dead and her world in ruins.
Devastated by grief, she decides to preserve the best of their love by conceiving his child, but Gabe’s family is adamantly opposed, even willing to chance exposing long-held family secrets to stop her. Caught in a web of twisted motives and contentious legal issues, Jenny turns to best friend and attorney, Steve Grant. Steve wants to help Jenny, but he has reservations and secrets of his own.
When something so private and simple turns public and complicated, will Jenny relent? What is Steve willing to sacrifice to help Jenny?
Maria's thoughts: Despite their age difference, Gabe and Jenny have the ideal marriage. Although Jenny agreed early on that they would remain childless, she's excited to find out she's pregnant but nervous about telling Gabe. Then tragedy strikes. Gabe dies suddenly after being hit by a car, leaving Jenny bruised and in charge of so many decisions. Gabe never stipulated anything about his death, and Jenny is grieving too much to make any decisions. Jenny finds an unlikely alibi in Judith, Gabe's ex-wife. She's a pillar of strength. She stands by Jenny's side and assists in any way she can. When Gabe's Uncle George discovers that Jenny has agreed to donate Gabe's organs, he is angered but powerless to stop it. However, he is determined to prevent Jenny from using the sperm that a doctor had taken post mortem. He acquires a restraining order and fights Jenny in court.
Jenny is a loving but somewhat immature wife in the beginning. She grows in strength and maturity as she overcomes her grief and fights for her right to use her husband's sperm. She is caring, understanding, and gentle. Most of all, she wants to honor her husband with a child he was unable to have with her.
Although Steve is a minor character, he shines throughout the novel. He's Jenny's neighbor and Gabe's friend and helps Jenny in any way he can. Steve discovers for himself what true love is. It's not a fleeting moment with his beautiful fiancee, but a lifetime with a woman who cherishes him. He sees the ideal marriage that Gabe and Jenny had and that Jenny is the epitome of womanhood. When he compares her to his fiancee, he sees how transparent their relationship is.
The author raises an ethical issue with Jenny's battle. Just because it's scientifically possible to retrieve Gabe's sperm and artificially inseminate her, does that make it right?
This is an enjoyable novel that will keep you turning the pages.

Sure, she’s had men at her feet since she was a young teenager but she’s never had the one thing she’s craved – security. Having grown up in near poverty, her waitressing job in Cabo San Lucas can barely let her take care of herself, let alone her ailing parents. Every day is another unwanted advance, every day is a struggle to survive.
When Salvador Reyes, the depraved leader of a major Mexican cartel, takes an interest in her, Luisa is presented with an opportunity she can’t afford to pass up. She’ll become Salvador’s wife and exchange her freedom and body for a life of riches – riches she can bestow upon her deserving parents. Soon, Luisa is looking for an escape, a way out of the carefully controlled life she’s leading. She finally gets her wish in the worst way possible.
As it is, being the wife of Salvador makes her an ideal target for rival cartels and there’s one particular man who needs Luisa as part of his cartel’s expansion. One particular man whose quest for power has destroyed lives, slit throats and gotten him out of an American prison. One particular man who will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants.
That man is Javier Bernal. And he wants Luisa. He wants to take her, keep her, ruin her.
Unless she ruins him first.
***WARNING*** This book deals with drug cartels and as such it contains a lot of sex and violence and some violent sex. It can get pretty ugly, pretty dark and pretty crazy. There is drug use, abuse, a bit of torture and dubious consent. The hero is not a hero and the villains...well, they're even worse. If this sort of thing bothers you, please do not read. This ain't no cupcake farting unicorn kind of book***
ExcerptThere was a strange moment of silence and I concentrated hard, trying to hear more than the obvious. They were all waiting. Waiting for the order. Waiting for the man in charge to speak.
He did.
It came from the left of me. His voice was cool, calm and collected. I didn’t have to see to know who had taken me. The man I’d heard so much about. The man I’d been taught to fear.
“Gentleman,” he said and I could almost feel his infamous eyes on my body, “remove the bag.”
There was a rustle and my face was immediately met with cool air that seized my lungs and bright lights that blinded me. I scrunched up my face, afraid to look, to see. Now it was all so real and I wanted to stay in the dark.
“Who did this?”
Suddenly cool hands were at my swollen cheek and I flinched.
“Who did this?” my captor repeated, an edge to his level voice, his cigar-laced breath on my face.
“Sorry,” Franco mumbled. “It was the only way to quiet her.”
A heavy pause filled the room like deadweight. Finally the fingers came away from my skin and my body relaxed momentarily. I felt the man stand in front of me, bending over so he was in my face, the spicy scent of tea and tobacco emanating off of him.
“Look at me Luisa Reyes.”
Chavez, I thought to myself, I will always be Luisa Chavez.
“Darling, aren’t you curious to where you are?”
“My name is Luisa Chavez,” I said. I opened my eyes to see golden ones staring right back at me. It was like looking at an eagle. “And I know where I am. I know who you are. You are Javier Bernal.”
He raised his brow in amusement and nodded. I’d seen his picture before, on the news. There was only one and that was his mugshot but even in that photo, his eyes made an impression on you. They saw right into your depths and made you question yourself. He was one of the men whom Salvador feared, even though Salvador had more power. He was the one I had been told to watch out for, the supposed reason why I’d always been locked in the compound or escorted by the local police to go shopping.
And yet here I was, tied to a chair in a cold, leaking basement with nothing in it except five cartel members, a video camera and a knife that lay on top of a stool in front of me.
All of that for nothing. I could escape Salvador but I could never escape the cartels.
I had asked for this fate.
“You know why you’re here,” Javier said with deliberation, straightening up in his sharp black suit. He walked over to the stool, swiping up the knife, and glancing at me over his shoulder. “Don’t you?”
I could only breathe. I wanted to look at the others, at Este, at Franco, at the two other mystery men, but I was frozen in his gaze like a cow in headlights.
“What is the knife for?” I asked, my throat painfully dry.
“You’ll find out after,” he said. “It is for your husband. For your Salvador.” He stepped to the side and waved his arm at the camera. “And this is also for him.”
He eyed someone over my shoulder and gave a sharp nod. I heard a rip from behind and a piece of duct tape was placed over my mouth. I squirmed helplessly and the lights in the basement dimmed. The men stepped to the side while Javier went behind the video camera. A white light came off the front of it and bathed me in an eerie glow.
Javier cleared his throat, his face covered in shadow and said loudly, projecting to the camera, “This is Luiza Reyes, former beauty queen of the Baja State and property of Salvador Reyes. Salvador, we have your wife and we have a long list of demands, demands which I know you can meet. I expect full cooperation in this matter, or she dies in the next seven days. If she’s lucky. I’ll give you some time to think about what you’re willing to give up for her. Then we’ll be contacting you. Good bye.”
The light on the camera switched off but the rest of the room remained dim.
“I hope your husband checks his emails often. It would be a shame to have to put this on YouTube.”
There was a smirk on his face at that as he slowly walked toward me, the knife glinting in his hand. His eyes burned through the shadows, then grew somber.
He held up the knife. “I think it’s only going to hurt the first time.”
My eyes focused on the silver of the blade but the terror inside me grew too strong and my urge to breathe through the duct tape became too difficult. My lungs seized in panic, pulsing dots appeared in my vision. I felt a hand on my collarbone, gripping the edge of my blouse and then everything went black.

Now, she’s met Gray and taking a risk on this Marine could be her one opportunity to feel alive and in love again. But how can she risk her heart on another military man who could share the same tragic fate as her husband?
Excerpt
THIS WAS ONLY TEMPORARY, I reminded myself, as Samantha so sweetly kissed me back. I'm only here for a short time I reminded myself but as I felt her tongue stroke the side of my tongue, as she nipped her teeth against my lip, I wanted to just drown in the sensation. Her scent filled my head and the air around us shrank until all I knew was her small body sitting so close to mine. I moved my hand from her shoulder to cup her neck and angled her face for deeper penetration. I licked every inch inside of her mouth until the taste of her was all that I knew on my tongue. And all that time I stared in to her green eyes and not once did she look like she was anywhere but right here with me. I saw my reflection there. Her heartbeat was made wild by my kisses. And temporary was the farthest thing from my mind.

TeriLyn's thoughts: **Arc provided by author in exchange for an honest review**
Not having read any other books in the Woodlands series, Unraveled came as a great surprise. I loved the characters and the pace of the story; once I sat down to read it was hard to stop. The author always kept the plot moving. The only aspect that didn't appeal to me was the length of the book that Gray and Sam spend apart. They're relationship started hot and although they both had issues that could have been more debilitating neither ever lingered to the point that it became cumbersome. Gray and Sam developed a fun relationship, they're banter was cute, the passion was intense, and the maturity both characters showed was perfect. While I didn't feel a strong connection either character I still believed in their story. When both the hero and heroine have been through troubling experiences and move forward, maybe with confusion, but still moving forward you're in a for a good love story. The secondary characters intrigued me to the point that I want to know their stories. This book did have spoilers, as in I know how Noah and Bo's stories, respectively, ultimately ended. But that didn't deter me from being curious as to how they got there. The writing was easy to read, the dialogue fun, and the story entertaining. I'm looking forward to more Woodlands books and had the opportunity to start a good series of books with Unraveled.
AND...
This book started out great and it just kind of fell flat for me. I really liked the characters and the story line but the book was never able to really pull me in completely. There isn't anything that I didnt like about the book or found annoying. I liked to hear about their adventures but they seemed a little to short and not thought out where they seemed a bit to rushed for my taste. This book kind of felt like others that I have read that just dont have enough depth for me. With all that I would still encourage others to try it out.

Small town country girl Elva Presley Hicks is about to attend her five-year class reunion with her best friends, Shay and Margarett.
The discovery of an old fanfic manuscript stirs up memories of her summer job as a plumber’s helper in Houston the summer before senior year. She earned a lot of money that year, but was lonely as heck.

It was magical. Mitch wasn't turned off by Elva's name or fan fiction writing, and Elva didn't lose interest in Mitch after he cut off his nose at work.
Trials and triumphs followed including a friendship implosion, world-wide fanfic humiliation, and goat salvation. It would go down as the most memorable summer of high school.
But as these things sometimes do, the summer romance fizzled and Elva moved on to life after high school. And while she's ready to reminisce, she is unnerved when she runs into Mitch at the reunion. Can they give it another go after so much time has passed, or are they too different now to even try?

It was the best kiss I’d ever received, but also the worst. It sparked lust and need in every inch of me. My lips wanted more, my tongue wanted savagery. My skin wanted to bruise because he needed to touch me so badly.
All my thoughts disappeared as I nipped at his bottom lip. He flinched, but a second later he copied, his sharp canines piercing my oversensitive flesh.
I moaned.
I couldn't take it.
My hands flew up and gripped his shirt. Yanking him toward me, fireworks whizzed in my fingertips; my heart galloped toward exploding with lust. I’d never been so drunk on someone before.
Then I landed flat on my back.
The crack of my skull jangled my teeth. The thick carpet did little to cushion me. My eyes flared wide and I grunted in pain. Fear, hot and terrible, swamped my lust in a dampening wave.
“Top rule. Unbreakable rule. Don’t. Ever. Touch. Me.” Fox kneeled on one knee beside my head, breathing hard. His hand noosed my throat, pressing my spine into the carpet. His eyes were cold and lifeless, looking like a hunter intent on blood.
