Everyone makes choices in life. Carina Porter may have made the wrong one.
After graduating college, she sits beneath her complimentary blanket in first class dreaming of grand adventures when she lands in Italy. Carina always put others first, but now, she’s resolved to indulge in an extraordinary vacation alone in Tuscany. Finally free from the demands of school and family, she's determined to break away from her sensible nature and take risks. When a handsome man sits beside her on the plane, those daydreams vanish.
Stefan Savano is dashing and handsome. As he shares tales of his family and vineyard, Carina is swept away by his charm. After a brief courtship, Carina falls hard, but events come to light that make her question whether Stefan is as kind-hearted as he appears to be.
Things aren’t as they seem at Savano vineyard. Carina seeks answers, but it seems everyone is keeping a secret. When Stefan’s nephew, Enzo, pays a visit to the estate she’s drawn to his kind and free-spirited nature, and they form a friendship. Stefan becomes preoccupied with work, and when Enzo’s stay ends, Carina finds herself feeling isolated. It is then that illness and responsibilities require Stefan and Carina to return to his small vineyard in quaint Ravine Creek, New York.
There, Carina meets Stefan’s entire family and the time she spends with Enzo becomes more frequent. She tries to deny her traitorous feelings for him, but their attraction grows each day.
When Carina experiences a tragedy, she learns what true love means and must choose between an unhappy existence and a life of passion.
Her decision could do more than destroy a family—it could be fatal.

He pulls a grape from the bunch, and his gaze is glued to mine. “Come here.”I walk toward him. My will to do anything else is nonexistent. I stand just a breath away. “Close your eyes,” he says.My heart rate increases and beads of sweat begin to drip down my back—possibly from the sun, but most likely from Stefan—as I obey.
“Open your mouth.” He commands me, and with my eyes closed, his voice sounds so haunting, so suave.
Again, I do as he says.
The flesh of the fruit is pressed against my lips, and he runs it around my mouth but doesn’t place it inside. Then, he removes it. “Lick your lips.”
I do as he says.
The flavor is sharp and tart, but there’s a lingering sweetness. I say nothing, but with eyes closed, I await further instructions and am not disappointed. This time his voice is even closer, and I feel his hand on my hip.
“Open again.”
I part my lips, and the small fruit is placed inside. I let it roll around my tongue before puncturing its flesh, and the sweet, tart flavor overwhelms my taste buds. It’s heaven. As I chew and swallow the fruit, I’m aware of his hand on my body, and though my eyes are closed, I can feel his gaze all over me.
His grip tightens momentarily, and he slides his hands up my back and into my hair. “Open your eyes.”
As soon as I do, he tugs my head back and touches his lips to mine, sharing in the sweet flavor of the grape. His kiss is slow at first, then our tongues touch, and I taste only him.
I slide my arms around his shoulders and pull him into me. I want him to know that I want this. I want him.
My neck sways to the side as he forces my mouth open further, and he lets out a moan. It’s a guttural sound filled with desire. His hand slides down my back, over the curve of my ass . . .
He stops.
“Please,” I beg, but he shakes his head.
“I’m finding it very difficult to remain a gentleman around you.”
I raise my eyebrow. “So, don’t.”

Five months after moving to New York City, Emily is engaged to Blake Carson, future doctor and the man who she believes to be the love of her life. Until she starts to realize that the foundation upon which she’s building her future is based on a series of Blake’s self-serving lies.
Blake can’t let her go. He can’t continue to deceive Emily, either. But Blake’s biggest problem is that he has to maintain the life he has become accustomed to, at any cost. And that means keeping his overbearing mother happy, and keeping Emily ignorant.
Tyler Carson left New York City two years ago, happy to leave behind all of the Carson family drama. Until he comes home and meets Emily. Falling in love with his brother’s fiancée was easy. Book description:
Ellie’s job is to catch and remove unwanted ghosts. Part detective, part paranormal exterminator, Ellie operates out of Savannah, Georgia, one of the oldest and most haunted cities in North America.
When a family contacts her to deal with a disturbing presence in the old mansion they've recently purchased, Ellie first believes it to be a typical, by-the-book specter, a residual haunting by a restless spirit. Instead, she finds herself confronting an evil older and more powerful than she’d ever expected, rooted in the house’s long and sordid history of luxury, sin, and murder. The dangerous entity seems particularly interested in her clients’ ten-year-old daughter.
Soon her own life is in danger, and Ellie must find a way to exorcise the darkness of the house before it can kill her, her clients, or their frightened young child.
Five Signs Your House May Be Haunted
Things go bump in the night. You feel like someone is always watching you. You think you have a ghost, but maybe it’s a just a creepy squirrel scrambling around your attic at night and staring at you through the windows. How can you tell for sure?
The editors of Ladies’ Haunted Home Journal are back with an easy guide to determining whether a paranormal presence infests your house! Before calling the ghost trappers, consider whether you have any of the following signs:
Cold Spots: One or more areas in your house might seem much colder the space around it. This may be a corner, closet, or other out-of-the-way spot. You may be excited to learn that when you feel the cold spot, you’re not just in the presence of a restless dead spirit, you’re also touching it! You’re almost inside the ghost, and it’s kind of inside you. Pretty neat. Important note: A cold spot inside your refrigerator or freezer may be caused by the appliance itself.
Strange Sounds: You may hear moaning, groaning, thumping or crashing late at night. Make sure it isn't an elderly neighbor or relative bumbling around your house. If you hear voices threatening you with death or dismemberment, you might consider the benefits of spending the night at a Motel 6.
Mysterious Motion: Plates slide off the counter. Doors open or close by themselves. The chandelier leaped down from the ceiling, flew across the room, and tried to kill you last week. You’re beginning to think something may be amiss. First, make sure there aren't any logical causes for these problems, such as keeping your counter too greasy, or a broken hinge in the door, or that idiot who installed your chandelier. If you can’t find an explanation, odds are you've got a ghost (or a poltergeist, but let’s not split hairs).
Absurd Disappearances: Your keys disappear from your end table, only to be found in the fish tank. Your good silver vanishes, piece by piece, and you discover all of down in a mysterious back corner of the basement. It’s either a family member with bizarre hoarding tendencies or a mischievous ghost. Either way, you've got an annoying problem on your hands.
Full Apparitions: If you have seen a ghost appear and disappear, you probably have a ghost. We don’t really have an alternate explanation for this one. Call your local paranormal exterminator today!
We hope these tips will help you sort out whether your house is haunted or your family just weird! If you have further questions, please read our pamphlet: My House is Haunted – What Now? Good luck with that ghost!

Two strangers. Two broken hearts. One night to set each other free.
Almost dying from an undiagnosed heart condition means every second of your life is a precious gift to be guarded.Lena Pettitt was born a miracle. And her parents never let her forget it.Even if that daily reminder kept her from experiencing the one thing they were trying to protect most--her life.
Gabriel Martinez’s heart has been ripped out.His pride has been stomped on.Oh, and he now has an arrest record that’s caused an even bigger rift between him and his DA mother. All for a love that wasn’t really true.
Now he’s exiled to his grandmother’s, working on his late grandpa’s old Corvair when a shivering girl knocks on the garage door. Lena, left alone for the first time ever, has locked herself out of her house--in the snow. Gabe knows he could help this girl get back inside her house--but that may mean missing the next train to Boston to pick up the part he’s spent eight weeks tracking down. She can wait for him at his grandmother’s or…
A few hours, an aluminum valve cover, and some strong coffee later, neither Gabe or Lena can feign disappointment when they race to the station and arrive just as the last train home from Boston is pulling out.
As jaded as he is, Gabe can’t deny the fact that he’s excited to spend the night exploring a city he knows nearly every corner of, with a girl who sees magic in the simplest things.
Lena has been waiting for her tiny world to crack open her entire life. Now that it’s finally happened, she finds the only thing she can focus on is the unexpected tour guide who opens her eyes to possibilities she never imagined.
All they have is this one night, together, under the bright moon in a city full of hidden beauty.
It’s one night that will change how they see the world and the paths their hearts will take forever.
EXCERPT“So what happened?” Lena asks. She takes another sip of her drink, then rests her hand on the the laminate countertop near mine. I want to focus on that. How close she is. How close she’s allowing me to be to her for the first time tonight. What I don’t want to be doing is talking about my ex-girlfriend. "Why aren’t you together anymore?"Making love to her was like sleeping with a starfish. She loved the thrill of a political protest more than she actually loved me.She was happy to see me hauled off to jail for her cause, because it added a little drama to her life.“I don’t know, I guess you can only make exceptions for people for so long before they all just sound like excuses.”“You, or her?”I suck in a quick breath before answering,“Maybe both?”She stares down at her wrist, spinning the blue beads on her bracelet as she says, “But you loved her.” It isn’t a question. I nod slowly. “I did.”“And now--”“Now, I’ve moved on.” I shrug.“Have you really?” Lena asks. “Because when she hugged you--”I don’t really understand why we have to talk about this. So we ran into Jemma, it doesn’t mean the entire relationship needs to be rehashed over pie. Doing that will only lead to me having to discuss my arrest, and that’s not something I want to talk about with the girl who looks at me with those big brown eyes that scream trust and understanding and all the things I don’t even come close to deserving from someone.I turn my barstool toward her, brushing her knee with my own. The simple touch is more electric and intimate than sex with my starfish ex.“Look, Lena,” I say, as I wrap a straw wrapper around my index finger. “This isn’t something I want to get into.”“You’ve asked me a bunch of questions tonight,” she presses. That’s fair. I’ve spent the last several hours trying to drag every bit of information I can out of this crazy mysterious, beautiful girl. Our server comes by the table to refill our drinks. “Can I just get the check?” I ask, hopeful she'll just let it drop after a change of venue.“I’m not finished,” Lena says, motioning to her half-eaten piece of pie.“I’m ready to go,” I say.“Oh, because I asked you a question you don’t want to answer now?” she demands.“No, Lena. I’m just ready to go.”“Liar,” she mumbles under her breath. It’d be cute if it weren't so damn accurate. I pull out my wallet as soon as our check arrives and hand over my debit card.“I’m not a liar," I say, it comes out more harsh than I intend. "It’s just--being in love doesn’t define you. No matter what romantic idea you have in your head, love doesn’t go to the most deserving. It's not something you collect, like, the more the better. Love isn't a trinket passed down. It’s a wound left behind. Love changes you, but not always in a good way. It’s a goddamn scar.”

An arm was raised near him and he reached for the arm as he spun and pushed the intruder into the wall. He heard a gasp as he shoved the intruder into the wall and pressed his body forward holding the arm above him. His body shifted against surprisingly feminine curves. Shifting, he looked down to see Lily's eyes widen in fear as he held her arm above her head and the dagger at her throat.
He stepped away immediately. "Lily! What the hell are you doing?"
She looked down and replied, "I heard a noise."
"You should have woken me and not come down here by yourself," he whispered harshly.
Even in the dim moonlight he could feel her penetrating stare. She shifted the candlestick she carried and placed it under her arm as she rubbed the wrist that he had just held.
"I wanted to be certain someone was there before I alerted anyone. A strange noise should not instantly cause alarm," she scoffed.
"Did I hurt you?" Duncan asked as he watched her continue to rub her wrist.
She shook her head and looked away from him again, as if embarrassed. Duncan's eyes adjusted to the dim light and he looked over her to make sure she was uninjured. He gaped. She wore a white nightgown, but her entire form was visible through the nearly transparent material. The perfection of her form did not surprise him, but seeing her nipples harden and the dark triangle between her legs was about to undo him. She was an angel who could tempt the devil himself.
He gently placed his hand on her shoulder and said, "Stay here."
His voice sounded much harsher than he intended, but he watched Lily shake her head.
"No. I will be safer with you."
Duncan opened his mouth to protest, but his stomach tightened at the confidence of her words.
"Fine. Stay behind me and try to be quiet."
He moved forward and then reached behind him as he felt her delicate hand move into his. Staying close to the wall, they moved together towards the kitchen. They went behind a wall near the library and he saw someone moving towards them. He put his finger to his lips to signal Lily to be silent as he crotched down and then leapt on the person, slamming them down on the ground.
The man cried out, "Villain!"
Then the man swung and struck Duncan on the side of the face.
His cheek stung as he recognized his butler's voice. "Simon, you fool, it's me!"
"Oh, my lord! Beg your pardon, sir!"
Duncan moved off Simon and they stood up together. "What the hell are you doing?"
Simon replied, "I heard a noise and came to investigate."
"So did I. What did you find?"
"Nothing, but the back door was open and I am certain it was closed before. I was going to search the grounds when I heard another noise in the hallway, which I assume now, was you."
Duncan nodded as he saw Simon gape as he turned towards Lily. "My lady!"
If Duncan had a coat he would have taken it off and thrown it over her. Simon looked at Duncan obviously at a loss for further words and then removed his robe. Handing the robe to Lily, he said, "Please, for you."
Taking the robe from his butler, she blushed and said, "Thank you."
Duncan said, "Simon, check the grounds. I will take Lady Montgomery back up to her room and I will check on Eleanor."
Simon nodded and walked away from them. Duncan turned and looked at Lily. "We should go."
She shook her head. "Wait."
"Must you always challenge me," he asked harshly.
"I just think you need some ice for your cheek."
She gently touched his face where Simon had struck him and then pulled her hand back swiftly as if she touched fire. Glancing over him, she appeared uneasy before she stepped back.
He took a deep breath and said, "I will take care of it later, but I appreciate your concern."
Duncan took her elbow to lead her upstairs. As much as he would enjoy her administrations, he needed to get her as far away from him as possible. He opened her door and did a quick check of her bedroom. Satisfied no one was in the room, he stopped in the doorway as he felt her hand gently touch his arm. She whispered, "Thank you."
Turning to face her, he sighed before he said, "If you hear a noise in the future, please wake me or one of the staff." He stepped back slightly into the hallway. "Also, Lily, please remember to wear a robe if you venture out in the middle of the night."
She narrowed her eyes as she placed one fist on her hip. "Certainly, as long as you remember to wear a shirt!"
She glared at him just before she slammed the door in his face.

Book Review: Bright Side
Bright Side by Kim Holden: Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.
Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.
They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.
Lori's thoughts: I finished this book early today but had to wait until I could wrap my head around things before I wrote the review. There are books that you read and love and then there are books that you read, love, and they stay with you for a long time. I think the books that stick with me the longest are the ones that make me FEEL. This is one of those books. It was definitely a character driven story for me. I know some people stopped reading it before they got to the end because they found it lacking in excitement. I promise you, if you are one of those people, you need to go back to it right now and finish reading it. You won't regret it. I never found myself bored. The characters were so wonderfully diverse and lovable, I couldn't stop reading ... even knowing my heart was going to be broken by the time I flipped the last page. So many times, the writing had me tearing up--even when I wasn't supposed to. :) Bright Side, Kate, is the kind of person you wish you had in your life ... or better yet, want to be more like. Gus? What can I say? Keller? Every. Single. Character. Loved them all. I didn't want to say goodbye. And now, I have another book to look forward to when Gus has his own story to tell. #EPIC #DUDE.

Book Review: Nocturne
Nocturne by Andrea Randall & Charles Sheehan-Miles: Savannah Marshall is a gifted flutist and daughter of musical royalty when she enrolls in the elite New England Conservatory of Music. Brilliant, eclectic and passionate, she lives music, but struggles with her plans for the future.
Gregory Fitzgerald is one of the most renowned cellists of his generation. A member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and professor at the Conservatory, he is laser focused on his career to the exclusion of friends, family and especially romance.
When Gregory and Savannah’s paths cross in the classroom, it threatens to challenge more than their wildly differing beliefs on music. Friendships, ethics, and careers are put on the line as Gregory and Savannah play a symphony of passion and heartbreak.
In the final movement, Gregory and Savannah are handed their greatest challenge, as the loss of absolutely everything they've held as truths hangs in the balance.
Lori's thoughts: This is one of those books that catches your attention, so on a whim, you one-click it. Then, for some reason, you don't get to it right away. It sits and sits until finally one day, you decide it's time. Nocturne has been out for a little longer than a year, now and my only regret about reading it is that I didn't get to it sooner. My humble apologies to the authors! I loved this book. It's unique and well-researched. I don't know a thing about the cello or flute or classical music or playing with the symphony but came away from Nocturne feeling like I understand it a little bit better. The love between Gregory and Savannah is something so lyrical and beautiful ... and it will not go away, no matter how long or how far they are from one another. True love never runs smooth and sometimes the best comes from the most painful. If cheating and affairs offends you, this is probably not the book for you. Otherwise, if you're looking for a book to read about a love that is timeless, read Nocturne today!
