as someone who has seen a lot of 1950s american pop film, it’s interesting to see this trend of alt right guys posting an ai generated picture of a loving 50s family and saying “imagine how much propaganda it took to convince women that this is oppressive.” because in the 50s most of the films that aren’t straightforward invasion fantasies are like “i don’t know what could have happened, officer. one day my philandering alcoholic husband was perfectly fine, and next thing i kno...

Harrison Ford hating playing Han Solo made him better at playing Han Solo because Han Solo did not want to be there doing those things either.

I can’t remember what talk show it was after TFA but the interviewer was like “Did it make you emotional putting on the [Han Solo] costume?” and Harrison Ford was like “No. It made me money.” which was like the most Han Solo thing a person could say.

Sometimes the actor is perfect for the role.

this is also important for queer people who don’t know anyone else there. let them bring their friend, even if the friend is cishet. many would rather not go at all, rather than go somewhere alone.

It is always...

The dog was buried with 2 humans, a woman aged 25 and a man aged 40. They were all covered in red hematite powder and covered with basalt blocks with evidence of possible grave goods. The dog had distemper and had died in puppyhood at about 5 months old and there was evidence someone was caring for them through their illness.

Here are reconstructions of the man and woman the dog was buried with:

Aleshia Brevard started out her career doing drag at Finoccio’s, a legendary drag club in San Francisco. Allegedly, her Marilyn Monroe impersonation was so good that Marilyn herself came to see her.

Before long, she underwent gender-reassignment surgery. She kept her trans identity quiet for a long time, and had a successful career as a showgirl, Playboy Bunny, and as an actress on TV and film.

She lived her life in stealth, but f...

In 1961, April Ashley was enjoying a successful career as a high-fashion model, having just appeared in British Vogue, when she was forcibly outed as transgender by a tabloid. Immediately, all the work she had been getting dried up.

April managed to pull herself along by marrying the son of a baron in Gibraltar, giving her the social status to live the life of a socialite. The marriage quickly fell apart, and April tried to enforce her right to an inheritance. The challe...
