"Where are we? Who are we? What are we?"
This is me at dinners.
Everyone always sits around and tells funny stories and jokes. And it always sounds like fun, but I'm too chicken to join in. Mostly because I only know a couple jokes, and the only joke which ever comes to mind at dinners is as follows.
Three guys were rafting down the Amazon when they were captured by a bunch of natives. The natives told them they were going to kill them, boil them, and make them into canoes, but they'd give them each a last request. The first made asked for a cigar. He was given this, which he smoked. Then he was killed, boiled, and made into a canoe. The second man asked for a big dinner. So, he was fed, killed, boiled, and made into a canoe.
They went to the third man and asked him what he'd like.
"A fork," he said.
"A fork?"
"Yes, a fork."
It wasn't as bad as making another huge meal, so they gave him a fork. As soon as he got it he began spearing his arm and yelling, "HA! Make a canoe out of me!"
No, that wasn't my reason for posting.
Today is the 14th, one month to the release of Abolished Impracticality. Which means....COVER RELEASE!
Also, I talked to this book's artist, and we decided to do a picture reveal, like Clair and I did for Haphazard. There are three Fridays before the book is out - if we don't count this Friday and the Friday before the book is published. And, since Fridays are fun anyways, I shall just about them release days.
Treskie and I have decided to give all of you the chance to vote on which pictures you would like to see. I will have the voting box back up by this Friday, and the three pictures you can vote on, to find out which will be the first.
And that is about all I have to say. I have editing awaiting.
Oh yeah...you want to see something, don't you? Okay.
TADA!!!!
There, what do you all think? (I might be tweeking it a little before the book is published. I'm not sure how I feel about the gears and the sharp contrast.) But, there it is!
Quote is from Lucky Luke, his horse after Luke wakes him up.

"Alfie, he likes that, but he prefers Stormengedon, Dark Lord of All."
Wherein Jack has a fan girl moment. Or a moment where she admits what she does all winter long. Or a moment where she anilizes movies for the benefit of those who haven't seen them. (Whichever sounds best to you.)
Around this time for the last two years I can be seen randomly skipping through stores, grinning to myself, and at times giggling and clapping my hands. This usually only happens when a movie I've been wanting to see for a long time comes out. (Tintin, The Avengers, Narnia, The Hobbit.) Only, during this time of year there is no movie release. It is a TV show release. Not just any show. The show which became a favourite the day I saw the first episode. Grimm. For those of you who haven't seen it - and should! - it is about Nick Berkhart, a police detective working in Portland. (There is a special term for what he is....not homicide detective....but kind of like it. Maybe that is it. He works a lot of cases with dead people, but he also did some kidnapping ones.) Anyways, he's cool and a detective, that's really all you need to know. And his name is Nick. Nick is a cool name. But, because the writers didn't think that was cool enough, they made him a Grimm. (Like the Brothers Grimm.) He can see all of those creepy fairy tale monsters and it is his job to find them and stop them from doing creepy things. (For those wondering, the show isn't really that creepy. I just like that word.) Then, because the writers didn't think THAT was cool enough, they added a bunch more cool characters. Like, Wu who rarely gets excited about anything. Hank, Nick's police partner. Rosalind, one of the fairy tale creatures who is sweet and fun and runs a spice shoppe and - she's sweet. Really sweet. I like her lots. Juliette who was SO annoying in season one and two but is SO much cooler in three! (She got less annoying at the end of season two.) And the captain dude who's name I can NEVER remember for the life of me. He's Nick's boss though and he's one of those characters where you don't know if he's good or bad but you're hoping good because he's cool. And lastly is Nick's best friend, Monroe, who is also a fairy tale werewolf creature who loves clocks and sweaters and history. And he is the best. best friend anyone could ask for, even though he's not supposed to be friends with a Grimm. And season three is airing! Which means I get to watch a new episode every Saturday night. Which means I randomly start giggling insanely in public.
That isn't the only show I've been geeking about over. As has been seen, I've been using Agents of SHIELD quotes for my post titles. That is because it is another cool show and the more episodes I watch the more I like it. (What's not to like about it? Spies! SHIELD! COULSON!!!!!!) I knew I'd like it, because of Coulson, what I didn't know is how much I'd end up liking the other characters. I adore the two nerds - I can't tell though if they are British or another nationality. Anyone's thoughts on this? They are so funny and I love how they panic every time they have to do field work. They almost act like brother and sister, but I have a hunch it is going to be one of those romantic things later. Skye surprised me. She's a hacker who lives in a van and has a problem with government and authority. All set ups for an annoying character. But she is so much fun! It helps that she likes Coulson and....seems to be....looking up to him like a father or uncle or something. Also, she admits she isn't all tough and would rather be sitting behind a computer than stealing someone's pistol. And she is sneaky and knows how to get out of pickly situations. May. She is the tough girl character, but I REALLY like her. Somehow they kept her from turning out annoying, the kind of, "You're a guy. I hate you and don't need you." It might be the fact she likes to keep to herself and is the only one who questions Coulson. Or maybe it is because she is so protective of him and worries about him. Either way she is cool and I like her lots. Ward. I really like Ward. Next to Coulson he's my favourite. The tough soldier guy who can't handle a little hacker. (And he can beat up like, ten guys at once. All on his own. It would be hard for anyone to not like Ward.) Also, he is SO funny around Fritz - the boy nerd. They are like brothers, always bickering about how to do things and barely able to stand each other. Coulson. Because he is Coulson and he needs no other reason to be cool. And I don't believe he's a robot!!!! (For those claiming such.) Okay, I can see how they came to that conclusion....but he survived Loki! He's alive! They should wait to robotize him. I have other theories about how he survived and I've been scolding certain family members for not believing them. Besides, I don't see the huge change in him everyone is claiming is there.
Emma Approved. The new Web Video series by those who did The Lizzie Bennent Diaries and Welcome to Stanton - a spin off about Gigi Darcy. This new series follows Emma Woodhouse - I don't know what book she is from because I don't read a lot of JA books. Is her's just called Emma? Anyways, it is the modern re-telling of Jane Austin's Emma. I really liked the LBD series and was excited for Emma's because all of my friends used to claim I was more like Emma than any of the other JA girls. I still can't find the connection....but I won't argue the point with them. Right now I think I am like Emma a tad bit more than the LBD ones, though I loved the sister story in those. I just really like Alex Knightly. Emma has nosy, annoying, "must control everything" moments and he is never too busy or scared to tell her to behave. I'm thinking of getting the book so I can find out what happens next - or at least the Emma movie with Johnny Lee Miller.
And speaking of Johnny Lee Miller. Season two of Elementary came out, and yes, I'm watching it. It's a detective show and season two is better so far than one and Bell is in it. I just pretend it isn't about Sherlock and Watson - then it is pretty good.
Anyone else? Excited about new shows? (I'm scared to ask because I might want to add them to my watching list.) HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN THE DOCTOR WHO TRAILER?! If not go and watch it now, speaking of exciting shows.

"I don't like green food."
Wherein Jack talks about clothing.
I'm an author. A published author. Which means I should always be dressing like
This
and
This So that my clothes say, I'm a sophisticated author. Read my books.
I, on the other hand, have two modes of dressing. Sometimes I dress like Sherlock.
And other times Benedict Cumberbach
Nine times out of ten the Cumberbach side wins. Whenever I go out my family panics.
"You're going out in public dressed like THAT?"
"No, of course not. I'll gladly stay home, in my room, if you'd like."
Starting school though, forced me to come up with a fall back, especially during my editing and NaNo moments. It is all well and good to wear this
around the house, but it doesn't go over well at school. School calls for dressing nice, a problem I've never really had. I have a required uniform at work, one they provided me with. Dressing nice? On days I'm editing? With no one to tell me what to wear? Not a good mix. Until I realized something. A person can look pretty fabulous in a pair of dark blue blue jeans and comfy sweater. Sure, this outfit isn't as comfortable as my editing clothes - which used to consist of whatever happened to be on top of the clothes pile on my floor. (Note above picture). A couple weeks ago, I improved this method of dressing. I found this warm hoody and a skirt perfect for curling up in chairs. Throw in the above miss matched socks and slippers and I was set. I threw this at the foot of my bed and when I come home from work I toss it on and am ready to go.
Anyways, back to my school issue. When my family first saw me ready to walk out the door in my editing clothes - I put shoes on - they worried I had plans to wear it to school. School? Posh....of course I wasn't planning that...... That's when I first discovered the blue jean trick. Pull those on, whatever sweater happens to be on top of my pile, and a pair of boots. Put on loopy ear rings and I was set. Walk into school and people go, "Wow, you look fabulous." I know, right?
(You can totally blame this one on my new friend. She started it. *You know who you are*)
"You know the best part? I got this all off my floor."
I used to be a good child and put all my clothes up before bed. Now I take them off, throw them on the floor, and yell, "DEAD JEDI!"
So, what about the rest of you? What do you post about when you're so tried from writing all day that you can't think? What are your word counts at? Have you killed anyone yet to get them up? Have you set your dream cast for when your book is famous and made into a movie? Do you have dead jedis on your floor? Did you DIE? *Shifty eyes.*

"Be friendly, Agent Ward. You do know how to be friendly, don't you?"
Wherein Jack would say something witty and clever if she was awake.
With editing, work, school, and NaNo I've decided to give up sounding coherent during the month of November. You thought my posts were sporadic and random during my editing stages, you have no idea.
Today I am at 8,439 on my word count - an all time low for me as far as NaNo is concerned. But I'm really having fun with the book and I'm not going to dash to try and get a high word count this year. I'll just shoot for the normal 50,000 and keep myself awake by drinking more tea than all of England put together.
Actually, I haven't written anything today so I am going to keep this short so I can start working on the book.
I thought it would be fun to share some snippets, since we're already a week into NaNo and it seems kind of like tradition - at least according to the blogs I read. So, here we go.
"What happened to Theobald?" "I think I poisoned him with tea."
Leaves stuck in his hair, his face was blackened, smoke curled off his clothes, and he was grinning, pleased with himself.
Maddock ran out of the house, yelling like a mad man and brandishing a fire poker.
"Why are my sheepies wearing daisy wreaths?"
"Reid is a lair, a traitor, and Gwyn shouldn't trust him! Besides, his nose is too big."
"No one hangs my knight!"
"Punch me, it'll look more convincing." "If you insist." "You don't have to sound so excited about it."
"This is Iris and Galen. They're my aunt and grandfather." "She's younger than you. And prettier." "I'd hope so! We'd have issues if Theobald was pretty!" "He's half pretty. It's the elf side."
"I didn't keep you alive this long so you could rush in and get yourself killed!" "Maddock's my friend! I have to save him!"
"Where's Kenrick?" "Lost in the backyard again?"
"He's an elf." "I think we've established that." "An elf." "You have problems with this, don't you?"
"We could be best friends, you and I," Reid said. "I'd rather kiss a bear."
"Theobald - your brother scares me."
"You'll have to wear silk from now on." "Shut up."
"I think you and Reid could be best friends, Maddock." "I'd rather marry a cobra."
"When I'm king my first order of business will be in beheading you." "I'm so glad we're friends."
"Kenrick, what's wrong?" "That grasshopper is going to kill me."
"Who is she?" "My mortal enemy.""You have a lot of those."
"Kenrick! Tell Julain to stop fraternizing with the enemy!"
"You kidnapped him!" "Kidnapped is such a strong word. More like borrowed."
And that is all.
Don't forget, I am revealing Abolished's cover on the 14th if anyone would like to join in on the reveal. Please email me if interested.
How is everyone's NaNo going? Enjoying your books?

"Fitz wants to know if you packed snacks."
Wherein Jack tries to plan ahead.
So far nothing has popped up to mess up my plans for getting my book cover tomorrow. I should finally have a cover picture! Which means I can release the cover on the 14th of this month! *Waits to see if anyone cancels. Proceeds with caution.*
Since doing my first two covers I've come to discover a thing as a cover reveal. It is where I call on a bunch of my friends and say, "HELP! Please show my cover off on your blogs so everyone can oo and ah over it and want my book." I've never had an official one of these, but this is my third book, so it seems like a good time. So I am going to hold my first cover reveal. Dear friends, would any of you be interested in taking part in Abolished's cover reveal on the 14th of November? I would love to have those interested show off the cover on your blogs so people and Oo and Aww over it and want to buy my book. Okay, seriously though. If anyone is interested please email me and I will send you the cover - you will get to see it early (throw in some bribery there) - and the summery for my book. I've noticed some authors allow the revelers to ask them questions which they post along with the cover. So if any of you want you can ask me questions and post them with the cover.
I am going to keep this kind of short because I have one more chapter to edit. But I wanted to let everyone know. Lulu set up hard copy books which don't cost an arm, leg, and your first born child. I put out a copy of Haphazard in hardback and ordered a copy to see how it looked. I was surprised at how nicely they did it. The pages open and stay open so nicely. (A dream come true for those who like to drink tea while they read.) Anyways, Haphazard now has a hardback edition if anyone is interested. (I will suggest waiting though. Those who have read the book have mentioned noticing some grammar mistakes. I will go into this more later, but right now I am working on fixing some of them with my kindred spirit. So, it might be wroth it to wait. *Sheepish smile*) But if anyone is interested in publishing through Lulu and is wondering about their hardbacks, take my word for it. They are nice!
I'm going for real now. Again, please email me if you are interested in taking part in the cover reveal!

So, it might be wroth it to wait. *Sheepish smile*) But if anyone is interested in publishing through Lulu and is wondering about their hardbacks, take my word for it. They are nice!
I'm going for real now. Again, please email me if you are interested in taking part in the cover reveal!

"It's all this fur. It makes me look, poofy." "Fine, you have fat hair, but when you're ready to talk I'm here."
Wherein Jack is happy.
So, apparently there is this random holiday someone randomly stuck at the beginning of a random month. And, because all this randomness has to add up to equal something, I get a whole day off from school. It's like someone just handed me a bit of freedom and left me sitting here going, "A whole day to do whatever I want! Anything! Wait...what did I used to do for fun before school started?" But that isn't the reason I'm happy.
NaNo starts at 12 tonight. (I'm writing this early because I don't want to have to do it tonight or tomorrow, first day of NaNo.) But that isn't the reason I'm happy.
I think we are FINALLY going to get my cover picture this weekend. But that isn't why I'm happy.
Curious yet? Good. That is a reason I'm happy.
But the real reason I'm happy is because books are coming out!!!!!! (And anytime new books come it deserves a moment of happiness.)
First up...in just FIVE days The Royal Ranger - the last book in the Ranger's Apprentice Series - will be coming out. Let's just take a moment to breathlessly squeal with delight. *Pause*
I went to look for it yesterday. I thought it was out now so I went on a mad raiding spree at my town's book stores. I didn't find it but I did find something just as exciting.
Hm, hm, you're seeing that right. It is Lemony Snicket's newest book in the "All The Wrong Questions" series. I'm going to buy it. I might not be able to eat for a week because I never have enough money to buy two books in one pay period but I don't think I'll mind. Will Treaty and Lemony Snicket...who needs food?
And now, for two cover reveals I'm taking part in. These books aren't coming out in five days or are out, but you should keep an eye on them because they sound like good ones.
First up is....
Isn't that an amazing cover?
This book is written by a blogger I just recently found.
(The book in the author's words.)

This second book I am excited about personally. It is by one of my favouritest authors, who wrote a book which I completely fell in love with. I wanted another book by her after finishing the first - and while this will not have the amazing Ransom in it - I still REALLY want it.
So first, the book's summery. The troubled people of war-torn Chambria are on the brink of starvation, anda delicate princess with a recurring nightmare is their only hope. Alexandra
knows that her value to her country consists mainly in her ability to marry
well, but when she is kidnapped by the rebels and taken to meet the man
claiming to be both Chambria's true king and her real father, her entire
world falls apart. Will Princess Alexandra be able to untangle the web of
lies and discern who is the true king and her father?
And Miss Greyson's amazing cover.
Wonderful, right? Now, don't you want the book as badly as I do?
That's all I have, because none of the other wonderful books I'm waiting for are close to being out yet 8-P And now I have to go, so I can get everything ready for NaNo.

"Does she stop saying 'bang' when she pulls the trigger?"
Wherein Jack reveals the last of her NaNo characters.
I've been asking myself why I am giving so much away with this book. Every time I do it I feel like a spy disclosing too many secrets. The reason I'm doing it with this one is I'm hoping to get it published kind of soon. This writing for NaNo is more of an edit for it, and I think it will be ready before much longer. (I can hope anyways.)
These characters are the not so main ones. (Except for Adalee. I think she would classify as a main-ish character. But let's not get technical here. I'm not in a technical mood. I'm more in the eating pie and cookies mood. So throw them here and back away slowly.)
I guess I should do Adalee first so it is known she is more main-ish than all the others.
Adalee:
17. Light red hair which falls perfectly and does exactly what she wants. (You know, the kind of hair all girls wish they had but don't. Disney hair.) Green eyes.
Adalee is small. She looks younger than what she is and often times helps this along by acting younger. She has a cheerful personality with a hidden, evil side which is only brought out when she's trying to get back at Maddock for a prank he's pulled on her. (She and Maddock have a kind of ongoing war between them.)
Quentin:
21 - I think. I always forget his age, but I'll have it right before I publish the book. Anything before that is pushing it. Dark red hair which is always wild and disastrous looking. Green eyes. He's a little darker than normal Hemlocians. He's also taller and has bigger arms and the temper to go with it.
Quentin is Theobald's adopted brother. As I said he has a bad temper, he can't stand to be around many people, and he has a low tolerance for everything. If things get in his way he knocks them over, sometimes just using his brawn other times just by looking at them until their shaking so much they can't stand up anymore. In other words, you wouldn't want him for an enemy - probably not for a friend either. But he is loyal and he looks after Theobald.
Clyde:
Not sure what his age is. He won't tell me so we can all assume he's old. Really old. (He's glaring at me.) Looks a lot like Quentin, only not as big. He is Quentin's father and Theobald's adopted.
Clyde is short on patience but makes up for it by having a really loud voice. He loves his sons and would do anything to keep them safe, even give his own life.
Iris:
(We're working on her age. I don't know how elf ages work yet.) Blond hair - Disney style - and brown eyes. She's an elf which means she's pretty, tall, and graceful. She is also Theobald's aunt.
Iris is sweet and quiet and could probably get anyone to do anything for her just by smiling at them.
Reid:
20 or 19. Reid once flipped me off my bike and walked away laughing. We don't have a good relationship. (In other words the less we say to each other the happier we are. I'm on those kinds of terms with pretty much everyone in this book....) He has the typical Hemlocian looks with an extra dash of handsome thrown in - but just so you don't think he's like...(insert your favourite, dashing actor here....) he has a long nose. Thing Gru long. (He just hit me and insisted I tell all of you it isn't that long. "It isn't that long.")
Reid is the main villain. He is sneaky, plotting, and undermining everything in the book so it will all turn out to his advantage. (Basically, if you are waiting for a villain of mine to dislike, dislike Reid. Even I can't stand him. {I should say here something like, "And I created him!} But I didn't. I rarely create my characters, and if I was ever looking for one to claim it would not and never will be Reid.)
Okay, I feel better. I had a Reid rant.
Kendra:
At this point I don't even know if she will be in the book. She's appeared in some versions and not others. If she lived in the 60's or 70's she'd be a hippy. "Going where the wind called her." She is annoying, flighty, and never tells me anything. She even surpasses The Broken Blade boys in that area. So, if she does appear I will only say she is Maddock's mortal enemy. If she doesn't well...at least you know her name.
Galen:
He is Theobald's grandfather. An elf who is still trying to figure out his age. He is wise and sometimes the only one who gives Theobald good advice.
Ulrich:
He's about in his forties or late thirties. Probably forties. He is the usurping king and my dear Mycroft's favourite character so far. (I guess even usurping kings need a fan base.) Ulrich changed in this last edit and I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with him in my "FINAL" draft.
Archibald:
Ulrich's almost five-year-old son who is around, pretty much, for the sake of looking cute and winning over hearts. Because why else have an adorable child in a book? Even I fell for his large eyes and sweet little smile and love of sugar. (At this moment I think he is one of the only characters I actually like and speak to...WAIT! That's wrong! I feel so traitorous. The reason I am not on speaking terms with anyone is because they stole the book from Theobald, who is one of my favouritests characters. I like him as much as Peter. And they all came in and changed his story. So, that is why we don't talk to each other. If it weren't for Theobald I'd probably stuff their book in a back document and forget about it. *Not that they'd let me...*)
Julian:
19. Looks a lot like Maddock, only taller and thinner.
After that rant I now get to two characters who kind of make it invalid. I must admit, I have become very fond of Maddock's brothers - Julian of whom is the oldest. They are just SO much fun to write!
Julian is the oldest of the three brothers and he is incurably lazy. He doesn't even try and get out of work, because that takes too much work. He never does anything he doesn't have to do. Unless his brothers are in trouble. He can be very dangerous if someone is threatening his brothers. (The same with Adalee and his mother.) He is VERY protective.
Kendrick:
17. Again, looks a lot like Maddock.
I love Kenrick. He is completely clueless - for those who have read Haphazard think Peter and Singur, and then go ten times worse. If something is obvious Kenrick will completely over look it. Also, he has this thing with grasshoppers. He is convinced they are out to take over the world.
And now, as promised, I will reveal the title of my book. Then I will go and edit and take over the world. (The usual.)
It is entitled The Shepherd Knight.
Quote is from Agents of SHIELD, another Coulson line where he's talking to Ward about Skye's training.

"What do you like best? The view? Freedom?" "Solitude."
NaNo is only three days away now. I felt ready until today, now I am ready to start running around in a circle yelling, "What was I going to write about? What is the plot? Who are the characters? Who are we? What are we? Why?" (If you get that reference you get two cookies.)
I've been collecting pictures which authors have termed book inspirations. It's actually just an excuse for us to kill time on Pintrest and claim we're working. I joined in because I had a case of writer's block and editing and wanted to convince everyone I was working so they'd leave me alone. And I thought I'd share these pictures, ones which have given me ideas for my NaNo book.
I claim none of these pictures. I got them all of pintrest.
Inspiration for Adalee - looks and dress
This is more of what the dresses look like, because at this moment I don't have planned for a girl to be sneaking in somewhere with the intention of stabbing someone. (That might change, one never knows with my characters.)
Inspiration for Gwyn and the main bad guy, Reid. (He will be in my final character introduction.)
Ideas for hair styles and dress style
This was just one of those pictures which gave me a scene idea. (The one with the darkest hair reminds me of Theobald's brother, Quentin. The girl of Adalee.)
This was one of the first pictures I found while writing the book - about six years ago before it went through it's ten re-writes. One of Maddock's fans found it and insisted the fellow was Maddock and the girl Gwyn. It no longer fits either of them, but had to be included in the picture post.
Dress and scene ideas for Adalee
Dress ideas again. If the girl was supposed to be anyone from the book I guess she would have to be Iris, Theobald's aunt.
An idea for a scene with Gwyn and Maddock and her book
I have a scene like this planned for the book - only the two characters aren't smiling in it.
An idea for Iris
The last few drawings were the same person as did the sheep one. And that is about all I have. I'll be revealing all of the side characters and the title on Wednesday. Then on the first I have something really cool to share with you all, so come back for that. Because it will be worth it, trust me.
Quote is from Agents of SHIELD, a conversation between Coulson and May. (And on that note, I am now convinced Coulson ships Fritz and Simmons since he calls them FritzSimmons.)

"Indian giver! No...not you. I was insulting a whole other group of Indians."
Wherein Jack wishes writers would stop being mean to brothers
I finally saw Pacific Rim the other day. I think I will review it, I just don't know when, so don't hold your breath or you will die. It was pretty good, better than I thought it would be, but I am so tired of reading and watching things were a brother either dies or turns bad. I sat through the first part of the movie - this isn't a spoiler because it is in the first five minutes or so and is the whole plot of the movie, so there! - going, "Don't kill the brother. Don't kill the brother. Just this once, let both brothers live. Don't kill him. Don't kill him. Don't kill him. Don't. Kill. Him. DON'T KILL HIM....you killed him."
Okay, so anyways, that said I will carry on. (That is my attempt at sneaking in a geeky reference without making it obvious, and this is me making it more obvious.)
Today I am going to introduce one of the girl characters who will be appearing in my NaNo book. I'm kind of nervous about writing with her, because I've had the hardest time since she first appeared. She is always either too whinny or too "I can do everything by myself! Leave me alone!" I'm hoping I finally found a balance since she is kind of important and I can't just shove her under my bed and forget about her - like I did with Peter's sister. (She was shoved in the closet. I only shove characters I don't like under my bed with the monsters.)
Cadwyn. (More commonly called Gwyn.) 17. Wild, curly red hair. (Think the girl from Brave and you pretty much have it.) Green eyes. (Yes, again. It is the hair and eye colour in Hemlock.) Short, slightly plump, and a lopsided smile. Gwyn is an orphan who was adopted by a man she and everyone in the village call Uncle. He's a craggy old man who is missing an eye and refuses to wear an eye-patch. Gwyn is the only one who can almost make him smile. (He's a good father to her and she loves him to pieces.) Neither of them know who her real parents were but are pretty sure Ulrich killed them or was responsible for their deaths. Gwyn is quiet. She doesn't like to talk much but she does love being around her friends - Maddock, his brothers, and Theobald. She likes baking but what she dreams of doing is writing. Only a few people know about this, Maddock being one of them. She has a kind of weird sense of humor and has the kind of giggle that makes other people laugh as well. She is an apprentice to Maddock's mother, who grows herbs and sends them to the castle. Gwyn likes herbs but what she really likes about it is digging in the dirt. She loves being outside and the moment most of the snow has melted she ditches her shoes. She likes to help Maddock with his sheepies, going with him and his brothers as often as she can. Gwyn's best friend, next to Maddock, is his adopted sister Adalee. Even though they are as different as anyone can get they get along as if they are sisters.
I was going to add something to that but it is late and I'm starting to fall asleep and therefore cannot remember what it was. So I won't bother. Instead, I will just go to bed.

I've been trying to decide for - probably months - if I want to do this or not. (No, actually, I've been trying to decide for a lot longer than that.)
I'm doing another character introduction.
Theobald 19. Light red hair and light green eyes. He's tall and thin. His hair is shaggy and hides his ears. Theobald lives with his adopted older brother and father. He is skilled with the sword but he has more interest in herbs then fighting - mostly tea. He loves tea. He puts the British to shame. And he is very good at finding tea plants. (Whenever Maddock helps disaster strikes.) Theobald is always a healer. He is Maddock's best friend, in fact, Maddock is the only one besides his father and brother that he's told his secret too. (Insert Spoiler Here.) Theobald is half elf. In Hemlock this is bad. The elves and men don't get along, at all. But being a half-blood means neither would like him if they knew they truth. Theobald feels like he doesn't belong anywhere, sometimes not even with his father and brother. It's worse for him though. Theobald's mother was an elf, but his father was crown prince to the Hemlocian throne. (I will go into this more later, maybe....not sure how many spoilers I want to give away.) Theobald is the only living heir to the throne and has to take it back from Ulrich, but even though he'd make a better king no one would accept him because he's a half-blood. Because of this secret, and the fact he has steal back the throne that is rightfully his, Theobald is withdrawn, quiet, and likes to be left alone. (Being friends with Maddock means this is impossible, but I let him go on believing it anyways.) He does have a strong sense of revenge as well. Not meaning he goes out and stabs everyone who has ever picked on him, just that he is never too sulky to get back at Maddock when his friend plays a prank on him.
And now I am going away to sulk because I don't like giving spoilers away. But next time everyone asks for one I'm pointing here, because this clears me from ever having to give away anything ever again. Right?
Before I go though I have a picture. I lay no claim to this picture. I don't know who drew it and I am declaring right now it isn't my characters. I found it on Pintrest and it looks so much like them, everything about it, I saved it. But it isn't them. I don't know the artist or who they are supposed to be or anything. (There, that is my lack of copyright claim. Now I can't get thrown in a dungeon.) But, I still think it looks like Maddock and Theobald.
Another quote from Chicken Run.
Allons-y!
