Be very, very quiet...
I'm a little afraid to announce, but spring might have just arrived. We've had several good days in a row. Lowes was pack today when we went to replace our grill and buy some plants for the yard and deck.
Of course, since I have so much I want to do outside, I've got a couple of edit deadlines this week keeping me inside and at the computer today.
Favorite part of spring? Hanging out on the deck after work and grilling dinner. There may be adult beverages involved. :)
What's your favorite springtime activity?

Raining Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...
It's been a rainy winter/start of spring here in the midwest. I don't feel my best in the wet weather, so I've been tired and grumpy. And next week is predicted to be the same. So this come in like a lion and go out like a lamb reputation, isn't working out for March here.
I'm visiting Indianapolis for the Popular Culture Association's National Conference. I'm on a mystery panel on Friday. Looking forward to a quick trip to Indy and meeting some scholars in the field. Book people are the best.
Short Tourist Trap update - my publisher has asked for three more holiday novella's for release in 2019. I love writing in Jill and the South Cove gang's world, so of course, I said yes. Look for the first of these 6 novellas in June with ROCKETS' DEAD GLARE.
I better get working on Cat Latimer #5 - my deadline's next month. :) Drop a line or comment and let me know what your favorite series is... Lynn

Back to School
I signed up for Murder and Mayhem in Chicago with the understanding if I didn't get on a panel, I wouldn't go. Well, I didn't get on a panel, but the planners were sneaky. :) They added on another workshop for the weekend with Jeffrey Deaver. So off to Chicago I went...
It was St. Patrick's Day weekend, which in Chicago is huge. I never have seen so many people in green in my life. I was at the conference when the parade occured, but I got my share of people watching during our lunch break.
Being an author is like having homework every night, but you don't usually get to attend any classes during the day. This weekend, I did. I really enjoyed the discussions from MMC and yesterday, listening to Mr. Deaver outline his process, it made me rethink my own.
Learning, growing, experiencing new things, this is all part of the author life.

A Touch of Spring...
We went out to the cabin this weekend and Mother Nature blessed us with sunshine and a beautiful day.
I needed that. I still got my words in. I was able to start the last pass reading through KILLER GREEN TOMATOES. But I also took the dogs for a walk. And the Cowboy and I got some riding in on very muddy trails.
Bonus? We got two camp fires this weekend.
Rest and relaxation. Now I have to finish the laundry. Reminder - WHO MOVED MY GOAT CHEESE releases March 6th. I hope you try out my new Farm to Fork mystery series.

Two months down...
Does anyone else feel like this year is flying? I've got so much on my to do list it's kind of freaking me out. But the good news is I got words in this morning. After I get this blog done, I'll be dealing with a workout. And then mailings to drop off at the post office later this week.
My husband was out of town earlier in the month which should mean more writing time for me, but it's hard to be a single when you're used to be part of a couple. I was just getting used to the routine of him being gone, and he's back. Today's he's smoking a chicken in the smoker we bought for our joint Valentine's Day gift. The deck smells amazing.
And bonus? I don't have to cook tonight. What's happening in your world?Lynn

Finishing Christmas...
Actually, it's Santa Puppy, and it's a Tourist Trap novella.
Writing these short novellas has been really fun and challenging since they take place in the past (at least for South Cove folks.) Aunt Jackie was just breaking up with Josh that summer. Toby was trying to learn monogamy and failing. And a fan favorite, Sasha was still on staff at Coffee, Books, and More. The first novella, ROCKETS' DEAD GLARE, starts at 4th of July. The second, A DEADLY BREW, covers Halloween in South Cove. And the third, the one I just finished, is a Christmas story.
Look for ROCKETS DEAD GLARE to release June 6th of this year and the others soon to follow. I'm hoping the novellas will give you your Tourist Trap hit while I'm writing the next book. Which is on my list to start tomorrow. Happy holidays and now I can put my Christmas decorations away and stop singing carols. At least I hope. Lynn

February resolutions check in
I committed to working on three goals this quarter but I think I touched five so far. With mixed results. Goal #1 Learn about marketing. I'm finishing up a class on headlines. It's been interesting and I'm going to take it again next quarter to keep the information in my head. I'm also part of a marketing mastermind group that meets twice a month. I'm learning so much, it's crazy. Score - Good progress.
Goal #2 Get healthy by eating better, controlling portion control, and working out. I lost 3.6 pounds in January. Then gained it back due to a lack of willpower while I was sick and more while I was on a book weekend. Back on the treadmill this week. I will be successful in this area this year. Score - Not so much...
Goal #3 Set up a Standard Operating Procedure for releases and implement in March.Basically, I want a checklist. So I'm not thinking a month down the road, darn, I was going to...Score - Not started yet
And the other two goals?Goal #4 Keeping up with my cozy contracts.I juggled and balanced several in the last couple of months. I have one more deadline next week, then I'm clear until April 30th. Goal #5 Pay off debt. I own my car as of this month. Hallelujah! I really like Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover system. So that's my report. I hope to have more under the good progress scores to celebrate next month. How are your resolutions going?Lynn
