The Bull Rider's Brother - remix

I've got a surprise for my romance side fans. Lynn Collins (me) is putting out the Shawnee Valley series this summer. A full season of cowboy crush stories and the first one is available now! The Bull Rider's Brother is a secret baby - coming home story set in a mix of my favorite Idaho mountain hideaways. And it starts the series off right. In two weeks, The Bull Rider's Buddy will release, just in time for a hot July. August - The Bull Rider's Manager is scheduled and just before you give up on summer entirely, The Bull Rider's Keeper will arrive in September. I hope you enjoy your summer trip to cowboy heaven! Lynn

Check us out on Facebook to get the details. Tickets will be sold at the door. Monday the 17th - I'm at the Kisker branch of the St. Charles Library. I'm giving a talk, then Q/A. Sconed to Death - Release week

Okay, hold onto your hats. Sconed to Death releases on Tuesday which means there's a lot going on in Lynn's world. I hope you come and join me either in person or virtually. First off, if you live in the St. Louis area, my goal is to have visited all the B&N's to sign their stock by this coming Friday. Tuesday - I'll be chatting with the Between the Chapter's book club on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/betwe... I'll also be hosting a Facebook release party from 6-8pm (Central) on Tuesday - https://www.facebook.com/events/11469... And, later that night, I'll be on the Boise Book Fest Facebook page doing a video chat 8pm Mountain time. Not sure how long I'll be there, but stop by. Later that week I'll have guest posts on Tea Cottage Mysteries and Reading is My Superpower. Then on Saturday, I'll be signing stock in Eastern Iowa and doing a library event in Marshalltown, Iowa at 2pm. So if you're close, please stop by. I'd love to meet you and books will be available for purchase. I'll have more updates next week. Lynn

A start of summer

The weather is turning warm and the thunder storms have started. I drove home yesterday in the rain from Chicago. The heavy, heavy traffic made the rain manageable since I didn't get up to the speed limit until the rain had slowed and I was closer to home. This year I'm going to make me a summer reading list. Just like the ones I had between school years. My plan is to read out of my own library. If I love the book, I can keep it. If not? It goes in the box to go to Goodwill. Two birds with one stone. Reading and decluttering. What about you - what's on your summer reading plan? Maybe consider adding the next Cat Latimer to your wish list... Pre-order now - https://www.amazon.com/Sconed-Death-L...

Bits and Pieces

I'm getting ready for a busy weekend. Well, actually, my life is double booked all the way through mid June. I'm getting ready for a big push for the upcoming release of SCONED TO DEATH.Saturday I'll be chatting with the murder mystery crew up in Chicago - Sulzer Public Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. It's open to the public and books will be available for purchase and signing afterward. You can find out more here...http://www.sincchicago.com/events.htmlStops in Marshalltown Iowa (as well as stopping at local B&N's along the way to sign stock); Richmond, Virginia (Fountain Books and Libbie Mill's Library); and my old hometown - Boise, Idaho for the Boise Book Fest on the Grove. (I think I was in Atlanta at RT when this picture was taken.)Not to mention I'll be doing local stock signings at all the B&N's around my new hometown - St Louis with a library event on the 17th of June. If you want more information about where I'll be - check out the events page on my webpage. I think I have it updated through August. Ohio is on this years plans as well as Southern California.

A Goal Book

Driving up to Milwaukee last month, I stopped at Cracker Barrel for food and to get out of the car for a bit. (The picture is not of my local CB, but maybe an imagined one? LOL)The best thing about Cracker Barrel? Their gift shop. I wandered through, looking for something I had to have. (Besides the chocolate I found early in my search.)Well, I found it. A leather covered journal with birds and a dresden type design on the front. All blue and antique white, except for the sweet bird. Now, I'm a journal freak. I have a lot of them. So I figured this one would stay on my desk until I gave it away. But no, I found a use for it. A goal book. Written down goals are like 100x more likely to become real. (Don't try to find my stats, they're from memory and probably exaggerated, but still real.)I've been reading my annual goals 1-4 times a week and adding steps into my daily goal list when needed. But this gives me a place to put my dreams and goals. The woo woo ones that I can't put into numbers but know they are there. Like getting a really good deal offer on a book. Or getting a pre-empt from an auction of a book. Jim Carey at the beginning of his career wrote himself a check for ten million dollars for acting services rendered. He dated the check five years from that day and looked at it daily. When that time came, he was making that kind of money. Focus plus Intensity over Time = Success. What are you aiming for today?

BV Reader Appreciation weekend

Last weekend I drove up to Milwaukee and back. In between, I met a ton of new and returning (rather than old - lol) readers. We had a lovely Q/A time where the readers got to know us. Then lunch the next day - four hours with seven readers at each table. Time to laugh and play and talk about everything including books. After that we had an amazing book signing (thank you!!). Then I crashed. The next morning, I was up and ready for our breakfast and one last time to meet and greet. By ten thirty, I was in the car, listening to Kingdom of the Blind and thinking about the weekend. Thanks Milwaukee!

DEADLY SOUTHERN CHARM

A few years ago at the RWA Literacy signing, I sat next to Catherine Bybee and next to her, Mary Burton. We chatted briefly that year. The next year, Catherine wasn't signing or was at a side table with the bigger authors. So I got to talk to Mary Burton. There are over 500 authors at this signing so you don't sell a lot of books, but it's a great place to network and chat. Mary was very gracious with her knowledge for a new to the mystery genre author (me). And we kept in touch. Last year, she reached out to see if I would be interested in being an anchor author for the anthology SINC-VA was putting together. I couldn't say yes fast enough. So that's where Cayce comes in. Esmeralda (from the Tourist Trap) lived with this 'family' of fortune tellers and con artists that ruled New Orleans. Cayce is from the original family. Her father took Esmeralda in as a child and taught her to use her gift. Cayce has always rejected her own powers, building instead, a reputation for appraising and buying antiques. Now, she's come home to NOLA and has bought an antique shop on Royal Street. Her powers are apparently rusty since she didn't expect to find the former owner dead in his office. Read CAYCE'S TREASURES and more stories in DEADLY SOUTHERN CHARM, releasing Tuesday, April 16th.
