Sour notes
Sometimes life throws you sour notes. And sometimes life throws you sweet notes. We all want to strive for the sweet, and sometimes when the sweet turns sour it is our fault. But sometimes when it goes sour it is no ones fault. No one asked to have an illness, an unexpected financial surprise, cut backs at work- life throws that curve ball. It is the little sourness that throws me off my writing vibe. It makes me go-eh I am not in the mood, why bother? Pulling myself out of the sour note can be the hardest. But I turn to other creative outlets to help. Music by my favorite bands, reading a good book, even just looking at beautiful, abstract, a little scary art can do it. It feels like awakening from a slumber, getting the juices running, reminding me that the sour will pass and you can start to taste the sweet again.

You have a choice to do amazon select or regular. The select means you can only sale your book on amazon. The general let’s you sale it anywhere. Select gives you the option of free days and countdown deals which is pretty good. You also let amazon lend out your book to their prime members. You do get a % of the prime.
You can publish at Nook Press. nookpress.com. Royalties are 40% under 2.99 and 65% over 2.99.
You can publish at smashwords.com they have a how to PDF which I recommend you read through. If done right smashwords will publish you on bn.com, amazon, kobo, and a few others. You can also get free PDF, mobi, and epubs of your book when you upload it there.
One other that I use is All Romance Ebooks and Omnilit they have a huge collection of romance and others. Here you do need to have files to upload. I use just the PDF, mobi, and ePub which are the most popular. If done right they make books available at iBooks.
For print I use createspace.com they have easy guides and help you get your book into print. They are part of amazon so your book is available on there. There are options to put it out to other distributors as well.
There are other places as well. Always keep an eye out for ways to sell your books, but always be cautious as well.

Distant Desires by Cambria Hebert Review
I had the privilege to read Distant Desires early! Be jealous because it was awesome. Stole this from: http://cambriahebert.com/2014/06/distant-desires-reveal/
About Distant Desires
Title: Distant Desires Part One
Genre: Erotic serial series (recommended for readers 18+)
Author: Cambria Hebert
Release date: June 14th
Official Blurb for Distant Desires parts 1-3
An erotic tale from beyond the stars
Sophie Perez has never believed the stuff she reads online about possible life in space. Aliens are for the movies, for the weirdoes, and they most definitely are not real.
One night on the way home from a late shift at work, her car breaks down. Stranded on the side of a country road, with a dead cell phone, doesn’t seem like that big of a deal.
Until strange neon lights appear in the sky. She thinks it is her imagination.
When an inexplicable circular ship appears overhead, she can’t deny what’s clearly right in front of her. Especially when moments later, she’s taken onto the ship, a human hostage among those who are most definitely not human.
About to become a human guinea pig, possibly worse, the last thing she ever expects is to like the things these otherworldly beings subject her to. In fact, it is unlike anything she’s ever experienced.
Will Sophie find her way back to her planet, or will she beg to stay where her pleasure is literally out of this world?
These short stories will be entertaining, steamy and the perfect read for your summer. There may or may not be cliff hangers, but don’t worry they will be released rapidly so you don’t have to hate the author. :)
Release Dates
Distant Desires PART ONE – June 14th
Distant Desires PART TWO – June 30th
Distant Desires PART THREE – July 14thPaperback edition including ALL THREE PARTS – July 2014
Now for my review:
The first part of this serial was short, sweet and sexy. Sophie was easy to relate to, and the story ran smoothly making you want to turn the page. The eroticism was sweet, it could have been a little more dirty, which I am hoping picks up. I love the idea behind the alien and I am really looking forward to reading more about him. As a reminder this is a serial, and ended with me going-wait. Wait. WAIT! I want more! Thanks Cambria Hebert for letting me read the ARC. I enjoyed it. I will be giving this five stars. Pick up your copy on June 14th! You can join her release event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1426737640924108/

Self publishing part 4
Copyrighting…©
Copyright is a legal concept that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights to its use and distribution. Technically under US copyright law your self published work is protected as soon as you put the pen to paper. Which means you don’t really have to register it with the copyright office, but it is helpful to do so. Registering your work gives you a little more protection over your material. When you register it through the copyright office, you create a public record of your authorship.
This helps you from pirates, yes pirates, those people who thought your book is awesome and doesn’t want to pay for it and wants to share your awesomeness with the world, or make money from your hard work for themselves. Registering your work protects you. You can send said pirate, or pirate site an email explaining that this book is copyrighted, and they are breaking the law. You give them a warning, and let them know that the next step will be reporting it to the copyright office. There is a hefty fine for copyright infringement.
Copyrighting also helps you protect your work from shady publishers as well. And trust me they are out there preying on the naïve writers who just want to share their books with the world. So whether you register or not that is your choice, but I would rather be safe then sorry.
I suggest that if you do register do it online through their website, it is cheaper that way.

Tomorrow I will talk about places to publish & I am hoping to have another post of just helpful links.

Self publishing part 3.
Sorry running a little late today.
The ISBN- is the International Standard Book Number. To you the reader it is that weird barcode on the back of the book with 13 numbers or 10 numbers usually starting with a 9. This code helps booksellers sell your book in stores. You can buy an ISBN for your book it can be over $100, but get this you can get them for free.
Smashwords, Createspace, Kindle Direct, and Nook Press will give you a random ISBN number or an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) number.
On a side note I was a bookseller for 6 years. I dubbed us book nerds ISBNs (I am a Super Book Nerd). The sounds of scanning barcodes still haunt me to this day.
Tomorrow I will talk about copyrights…
And just a reminder, if you have any questions please leave me a message or email me at eclecticellie@gmail.com. I am always willing to help new writers, even if it is to point them in the right direction.
