Wet & Wild Bloghop

wildhopWelcome to the Wet & Wild Bloghop!

I’m gearing up for the release of my sexy novella coming out this summer. It has some steamy scenes with a man in a suit and a ballerina heroine.

Rose Murphy is ready to break free from her solitary and stifling existence. So when she sees the man she’s lusted after outside her window, she gives him a sexy striptease. Drew is kind enough to return the favor, and mutual masturbation gives way to a naughty late night phone call. But not everyone wants them to be together, and when the relationship comes to light, their gentle peace may be shattered.

The release date is set for August 5th and while I don’t have a cover yet, I do have a sexy quote to share:

Blog tour kickoff, new reviews, and a special price for Selling Out

My blog tour kicked off this week with some fun interviews and reviews. Plus you can stop by any of these places for a chance to win a $75 gift card to Amazon!

Interview and Review on Ravishing Romances

“I know that not everyone wants the bitter with the sweet, but I’ve always been a dark chocolate kind of girl. For me, it’s achingly romantic to think of an escort like Shelly, who’s experienced the worst of what men can do, finding happiness and love ever after.”

Review on Tattooed Book Review

“Dark, gritty, seductive, and action-packed, Selling Out is a fantastic follow-up to Giving it Up. Though the stories are told in a similar style, this one is definitely my favorite. I relished the opportunity to spend more time with Allie, Colin, Philip, and especially Shelly.”

Review on Romantic Reading Escapes

“Selling Out by Amber Lin is another novel that I will mark as another one of my favorites for the year, thus far. With twists and turns, surprises and shocks throughout the novel, I white-knuckled my way through the pages.”

Interview on Scorching Book Reviews

“I think every woman deserves to find love, deserves a happy ending, and a prostitute is no exception. I realize her profession makes her unconventional, even intimidating, but she has the same kind heart, the same hopes, the same occasional loneliness that I think we’ve all experienced.”

Review on Lori’s Book Blog

“Shelly is an absolutely amazing character! I adored her in Giving It Up and I ended up more than falling in love with this raw, emotionally challenged, compassionate, and beautifully edgy character.”

Plus check out my interview at What’s On the Bookshelf or a review of Selling Out with some fun and sexy pics at Let’s Get Lost.

You can follow along the rest of the tour here.

Thank you so much for your support! And if you’ve read Selling Out, I would appreciate it very much if you could post a review at Amazon, Goodreads or wherever you hang out.

Oh and ONE MORE THING!! If you haven’t read Selling Out and you have a Nook, it’s listed right now for $4.74 which is a big savings off the regular price everywhere else. I’m not sure whether it’s an oversight or what, but basically you want to grab it :)

March Giveaway: Two Doms for Angel

So I’m starting a monthly giveaway! And here’s the first one…

One of my favorite things to read is dirty, raunchy erotica with whispers of something deeper throughout. Or as one of my critique partners put it: lovely little truth nuggets. I want a pile of filthy coal sprinkled with glimmering little truth nuggets. So when I saw a review of a BDSM menage book that said it was so much more than its cover, than its title, I had to pick it up.

The opening pages are compelling as hell, but after those passed, I grew worried. I expected to be wowed, and while I’m okay with typos in a self-published book, the scenes felt really choppy. Despite all that, I couldn’t put it down. Then the story went in a completely different direction than I anticipated… and I’ve read a lot of BDSM and menage erotica. This is something different.

While the plot is unique, what really makes this shine are the characters. Even in the places where they seemed larger than life, I could feel them pulsing on the page. I can do more than describe each character, I know them. Zachary is a very lovable protagonist, but I think I might have fallen in love with Monroe. The biggest question mark was Angel, which was an interesting counterpoint to most erotica where we see through her eyes–here, she is the enigma. But they are all strong and flawed and very deserving of their HEA.

If you’re looking for something fresh, here are the deets:

17185281 Two Doms for Angel is a stand alone book though it has one scene at Club El Diablo.

Zachery: Former Marine, swat commander, and hero hunk with an erotic edge.

Angel: Rescued after being tortured by white slavers. Her haunted eyes beg two men for love.

Monroe: Lethal killer and mysterious Shibari artist in love with two special people. But, can they return what he needs to save his dark soul?

Warning: This book contains graphic sex, strong language, content that may be objectionable to some but perfect for others. M/F/M, menage, BDSM, bondage, voyeurism and luscious male bodies at work.

Selling Out is a modern version of star-crossed lovers featuring a high-class escort and a detective with the Chicago Police Department. They are on opposite sides of the law… how are they going to wind up together? That remains to be seen, but you can be sure there will be plenty of angsty sex along the path.

I’ve got three ebook copies of Selling Out to share with you guys. These will go out on release day but I will notify you in advance if you’ve won. Cover Reveal for Selling Out (with excerpt)

I’m so excited to share the cover for Selling Out with you guys! As you might expect if you’ve read Giving It Up, Selling Out is dark, gritty, and sexy, and I think the cover artist Fiona Jayde captured that beautifully, so drum roll please….

AmberLin_SellingOut-Large

What do you think? I think it’s a great compliment to Giving It Up… as I hope the actual contents of the book will be!

And here’s a little teaser from the book, featuring Shelly, the high priced escort, and Luke, detective with the Chicago PD:

“Shh,” I murmured, stroking his back.

“Shelly, goddammit.”

But his protests fell away as I pressed my breasts to his arm and my tongue to his ear. His harsh inhalation sounded broken, shattered, or maybe that was me.

I tasted salt and man, earth and spring. Slow licks alongside his lobe and upward, more suggestive than sensation, but for a man like this, anticipation would be everything. Or so I had imagined, all the times I had dreamed of it.

A small sound escaped him, somewhere between a grunt and groan. I took it as encouragement and smoothed my hands along the hard planes of his shoulders, his chest. Not anywhere near the bulge in his jeans, because this wasn’t about pleasure—it was about wanting.

Anything to get closer, I let my knees slide apart around his side, the faint heat of his body a shock to my core. His hands clenched and opened on his knees, and again, the muscles rippled beneath his darkly tanned skin. Was he restraining himself from touching me or pushing me off?

“Baby, no,” he groaned, letting his head fall back onto my shoulder.

No, I would never deserve to have him as more than a sex partner. And he had never fucked me, though I knew he wanted to. Every time he saw me, his eyes would darken and my stomach would bottom out, but we’d never touch. But maybe for one brief inconvenient moment, while the door was open and the young woman beyond it needed help, we could pretend. Maybe it could be enough.

I shut my eyes tightly and pressed a kiss to his temple. Pretend, just pretend. I would give him the sex he had craved, and in return, he’d give me memories. It would be a payment, just the same.

“You want this,” I whispered.

He shuddered in my arms; it was like hugging a wild animal, one who could just as easily maul me as cuddle.

“Can I touch you?” he whispered. “Please.”

It unraveled me, that plea. As if he understood that a little bit of my soul slipped away every time someone touched me. As if he would cherish the part I gave him.

I scrambled away from him as if burned, breathing hard. No.

No one understood, which was exactly the way I liked it. I ran a shaking hand over my face to smooth away the panic.

Sure, he knew the score better than most people. He had worked the beat as a patrol cop and then as a detective. Life as a high-priced escort wasn’t glamorous; it was sweat and blood sprinkled with glitter. But he didn’t know the full extent, and I prayed he never would. Henri didn’t sell bodies; he gutted them.

I panted against the headboard, unable to walk away but unwilling to beg. Luke remained carved in stone where I’d left him sitting on the edge of the bed. The air pulsed with doubt and longing—with sex.

“I want it to be real between us.” He spoke low and hoarse.

A quiet sound escaped me. Every caress, every pinch. Every slur ever spoken. “It’s always real. That’s the problem, Luke. It’s always too damn real.”

He hung his head, and I thought for a moment I heard him say I know, but the moment slipped away, the sweet intimacy sailed away like clouds on the horizon—never really mine.

Hope you like it, the cover and the excerpt! If so, you can add it to Goodreads here.

Thanks!

Books I Love From 2012

So, I am 100% sure that I’m leaving out truly great books that I’ve read. Despite this, here is a list of 10 books that I loved that came out in 2012, keeping in mind that my standards for such things are has lots of sex and amuses me or freaks me out and came to mind just now.

This book is hard to describe from a genre perspective. It’s kind of erotic romance with suspense and humor and multiple partners and other things I don’t even know. But I can say with confidence that it is smart and funny and sexy. I enjoyed reading it A LOT. I also enjoy Carolyn Crane’s books (who writes as Annika Martin) but I must say that the Hostage Bargain gets my vote for having more blowjobs.

I was torn on whether I wanted to include this one or Burn for You by Annabel Joseph (who writes as Molly Joseph here), but in the end I picked The Edge of the Earth because it was more unique in the large romance scheme of things, and punched me in the gut a bit harder. The thing about all her works is that she’s completely unflinching. Plus, the hero’s a linguist. A sexy linguist.

This one is short, a novella, so I’m surprised it made the list but hey, I’m weird like that. It’s told from the POV of the cat, mostly, which I found adorable and well-executed. I just had a good time. I also loved that she combined very real and serious issues of humans and relationships and death with things like catnip usage.

If it is not already apparent, voice is a huge deal to me. If the voice is amusing and smart and ironic, then I really am barely paying attention to the plot and I don’t care. This is one of the best voices I’ve read and, in particular, an example of an unreliable narrator. Which I love. (see above: the cat narrator)

I’ve been a Charlotte Stein fan since I read Control (see my very long review here), but when she mentioned something about “punk hero, abused heroine” I knew this was the book for me. I then proceeded to twitter-punch Charlotte until the book came out on Amazon and then read it and loved because HELLO punk hero, abused heroine!!!

So, I consider myself something of a Lisa Marie Rice mega-fan. I don’t care that she repeats the things. I LOVE THE THINGS. I wish she would repeat them more often. However, my love for her struggled in 2012. She had some short stories/novellas that were missteps and then her most recent series incorporates paranormal into romantic suspense, which I DO NOT LIKE. But, she did give me Nightfire and for that I am happy. It’s classic LMR with a fresh feel. Enjoyed it very much. Please, sir, may I have another?

This one was a mindfuck, and pair that with a happy ending, and I am a happy girl. But also, Lisa Henry’s writing is stellar. Just really fucking stellar. She has this way of narrowing down the theme and then shooting it like an arrow–bullseye. The plotting was pristine. I would have been taking notes but I was too busy loving it.

This book was EVEN better than Ride With Me, which I honestly wasn’t expecting, because Ride With Me was so good. Very sexy but also fun and deep and all the things I am looking for in a straight-up romance. Although I must say that a certain book I beta-read for Ruthie was actually one of my favorite reads, possibly THE favorite read of 2012 but it won’t come out until next year. You guys will lose your shit over this book. Just wait.

So there you have it, an eclectix mic of depressing mindfuckery to playful romance. Did you read any of these? Have any that I missed?

An Announcement and a Giveaway!

Welcome to the Merry Menage hop! I have some amazing news to share with you guys.

My small town contemporary romance was acquired by Carina Press! The hero is a Navy SEAL back in town, the heroine is a local diner owner who gets stranded at his farm during a storm. It’s sweet and fun and pretty much the opposite of Giving It Up in every way… except that it’s still sexy as hell ;-)

In celebration, I’m giving away an upcoming Carina Press release that I am really looking forward to reading myself. Red Hot Holiday is an anthology of erotic romance stories, featuring Leah Braemel, K.A. Mitchell, and one of my favorite erotic romance authors, Anne Calhoun. Here’s the blurb:

I’ll be home for Christmas…to fulfill all your dreams.

This holiday, a Mountie is determined to get her man. A widow finds a fireman who ignites her passions again. And two men unsure of their commitment discover a happily ever after—and a blindfold—under their tree. No matter your desires, this collection of three shorts is bound to treat you to all the joys of the season.

Edited by Angela James, this anthology includes:

I Need You for Christmas by Leah Braemel

Breath on Embers by Annie Calhoun

Wish List by K.A. Mitchell

99,000 words

To enter to win, leave a comment telling me what your favorite holiday tradition is….

I’ll start. We have a four year old and a train that goes under the Christmas tree. Yep, no presents there – those have been relegated to the fireplace (which we don’t use much here in Texas anyway). So the kiddo runs the train, and then again, and again and again! I have some lovely memories of getting exasperated about that train whistle and hope to repeat (and repeat and repeat) again this year.

What holiday tradition are you most looking forward to this year?

Also, be sure to check out the other sites on the Merry Menage Hop:
