Transgendered men in women’s sports
The sports world obediently accepts the new cultural mandates about gender. That means transgendered men can now compete, as women, in women’s sports. Consider this case study: Fallon Fox is a man who has transitioned into being a woman. He, now called she, competes in women’s mixed martial arts. Fox has so far beaten–and beaten [Read More...]

Thoughts about the Orlando shootings
Liberal commentators on the Orlando shootings are downplaying Islamic terrorism as a factor to concentrate instead on the need for gun control laws. Some are even blaming Christians! The reasoning is that no evidence has of yet turned up that ISIS planned and ordered the attacks from Syria. Therefore, this is a “lone wolf” act [Read More...]

Millennials and vocation
Barna has done a study of the millennial generation’s attitude towards work. Most do not see their careers as central to their identities (unlike Baby Boomers). Rather, their jobs are there to fund their personal interests. And yet, Millennial Christians are more likely than Baby Boomers to see their work in terms of “calling” (a.k.a. [Read More...]

Clinton ad tries to woo Christians with pro-life imagery
Clinton’s SuperPAC is running an ad showing a disabled child, complete with parents talking about seeing her on ultra-sound and saying what a “blessing” she is in their lives. The point of the ad, though, is not to make a case that you shouldn’t abort disabled infants in the womb, as is the common practice. [Read More...]

Court says 2nd Amendment gives no right to “concealed carry”
A federal appeals court ruled that the 2nd Amendment does not give people the right to carry concealed firearms. The Constitution clearly affirms the right to “keep” (possess) and “bear” (carry) arms. Does the court think it’s only constitutional to carry weapons openly, on gun belts? Or would it allow that to be restricted also? [Read More...]

Summer Christians & Winter Christians
Some Christians feel closer to God when they are happy (and if they aren’t, they often feel that there is something wrong with them spiritually). Other Christians feel closer to God when they are hurting or struggling. Those with the sunnier religious experience have been called “Summer Christians.” Those with the darker experiences of God have been called [Read More...]

Refusing to bake Trump’s cake
BuzzFeed announced that it would not honor a $1.3 million advertising contract with the Republican Party because Donald Trump is going to be the nominee. I suspect other businesses will have similar qualms, as we are already seeing with some rock musicians not letting Trump’s campaign play their songs. So how is that any different, [Read More...]

What does it mean to be “blessed”?
“This is a real blessing.” “I have been so blessed.” “Count your blessings.” “God bless you!” “The Lord bless you and keep you. . .” The word blessing expresses an important concept in Christian spirituality.
