Britain now has more “nones” than Christians
Great Britain now has more people who say they have “no religion” (48%) than say they are Christians (44%). (Other religions such as Islam constitute 8%.) And this happened fast. Fifteen years ago, around 75% said they were Christians. Five years ago, only 25% said they have “no religion.” After the jump, a story about [Read More...]

Why did Clinton set up her own e-mail account?
Hillary Clinton is in legal trouble for using her own private e-mail server for State Department business, which is against the law. Her hackable server may have also endangered national security. So why did she do this? Carl Bernstein, the investigative reporter who helped break the Watergate scandal, gives the answer. See why she did [Read More...]

Those religious-extremist Anglicans
Yes, American foreign policy is a laughing-stock abroad, but that means at least some of the reaction is funny. British commentator Douglas Murray discusses the new American counter-terrorism strategy, which, in its written form, never mentions “Islam.” Terrorist-inspiring religious extremism is a problem, says Secretary of State John Kerry, for all religions. Which has Mr. [Read More...]

The agony of defeat
Well, the Oklahoma City Thunder, after going ahead of the Golden State Warriors 3 games to 1, ended up losing the series, losing game 7, 96-88. This was only the 10th time out of over 200 games that a team came back like that. In many ways, the Thunder outplayed the Warriors, but there was [Read More...]

“Bring to his work a mighty heart”
In observance of today’s holiday, the Daily Oklahoman printed excerpts of a Memorial Day address by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., in 1889, when the memory of the Civil War was still fresh. You’ve got to read this speech. It features an eloquence and a depth of sensibility that we almost never hear today, certainly not from [Read More...]

Why Memorial Day?
The difference between Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day, we are reminded, is that the former honors the living who served their country in the military, while the latter honors those who died in the line of duty. And we have lots of people to honor today. The number of Americans who died for their country [Read More...]

“To get to you, they’d have to go past us”
Most military recruiting ads lately have had a self-help theme (“be all that you can be”) or have encouraged enlistment for all of the job training you would get. But this ad, shown after the jump, invokes the purpose of military service. And it reminds us why we should all be grateful for those in [Read More...]

Libertarians put two governors on their ticket
Gary Johnson, former Republican governor of New Mexico, was nominated to be the Libertarian candidate for president at the party’s convention over the weekend. His running mate will be Bill Weld, former Republican governor of Massachusetts. This means that the Libertarian candidates have more executive government experience and so are arguably better qualified than either [Read More...]

More on Muslim conversions in Europe
As we’ve blogged about (see here and here and here), large numbers of Muslim immigrants are converting to Christianity. There is an article about the phenomenon in the Daily Beast, no less, which estimates that the numbers may be in the tens of thousands. In addition to Germany, France, and Denmark, it is now happening in the [Read More...]

Donald Trump clinches GOP nomination
Donald Trump now has a total of 1,238 delegates, one more than the 1,237 necessary to win the nomination. He will certainly get more, since he is the only candidate still running, and there are still some primaries to go. But he is now the Republican candidate for president. Now that the Republican race is [Read More...]
