What is the Vineyard?

Picture Our History, Values and Distinctives

A Vineyard Distinctives booklet

Vineyard USA

[Paperback]

Brilliant and inspiring booklet. At one stage I got a little lost in there. I would have liked it even more if it was written for the whole Vineyard church rather than just Vineyard USA, however it was also a good reflection of what I have seen of the rest of the Vineyard.

Excellent read, I highly recommend giving it away to people curious about who the Vineyard is.

Remember The Poor

Picture Caring For the Least, the Last, and the Lost

A Vineyard Distinctives booklet

Vineyard USA

[Paperback]

A great little booklet. A simple detailed, easy to read and logical perspective on who are the poor and how we in Vineyard serve and give dignity to the poor.

Union Jack

(the national flag of the United Kingdom)

If we had Royal Mail
then I would pop the Jack in an envelope
and send it back to where it belongs.

The Union was and is British.
Aotearoa was quite clear
that it didn't want the flood
of red, white and blue.

Almost two hundred and fifty years later
we still pay the price
of having someone else’s flag
rule over our own.

I know you can't go home
but at least respect our suffering
and leave our flag alone.

Squeaky Wheels

Scott Hippe

2012 Scott Hippe

[kindle eBook]

A very enjoyable and slightly entertaining account of a young man's American transcontinental bicycling journey. Unfortunately Scott does not like to talk about the technical side of cycling, if he had included more information about his route and what gear worked or didn't work this would have been a brilliant book. Other than being single and incompetent with women, he mostly speaks of how to find free accommodation, this alone was worth the read.

An enjoyable 4/5

This was a good book and a fantastic look at the book of Matthew. Derek attacks the book from a enacted, inaugurated eschatological perspective, it is really refreshing.

A Good Hanging

Ian Rankin

Orion

[Second hand paperback]

Not the best of Rankin's books, however quite enjoyable. The book is a collection of short stories, featuring Rebus as he used to be; book loving, jazz listening and slightly religious.

I will give this one an under-rated 2/5

Yeah good read. It was definitely one of Rankin's better books. However I did manage pick the villain in the early chapters.

The Passion of the Kingdom

PictureThe Passion of the Kingdom
The Theology of Mark

Derek Morphew

Derek Morphew Publications

[pdf textbook]

Interesting and educational read. I really really liked the section on Peter. This rest of the book was also good particularly the themes of 'authority and conflict' and 'the Messianic secret'.

There were a few spelling mistakes in the book, but hopefully these will be ironed out before the book hits Amazon.

3/5

PictureDiscovering the Kingdom

[pdf textbook]

I read this awhile ago now, but clearly remember it along with Ladd's book bending my mind and changing my grid for looking at the Kingdom of God. Morphew has a lot to say on this subject and all of it is well worth reading.

4/5
