Bread Baking Cookbook
A friend of mine came over with a new book she had purchased and was so excited about. Fortunate for me she decided to leave The Best Ever Book of Bread with me to read. I am so glad she did because I fell in love with it! I went to Amazon to see what type of reviews had been left and I only found one, which I agreed with. This bread baking cookbook is full if beautiful pictures of {Read More}

Lentil Trash Crock Pot Soup
I do a lot of cooking for my cookbooks and of course, this includes sampling! But there comes a time when I have to get back to my healthy menu of fresh fruits, vegetables and low-fat. The one recipe I always go back to is my Lentil Trash Crock Pot Soup. It’s a savory blend of spices in a thick broth full of lentils and any vegetables I have left over in the pantry. You just can’t ruin this soup {Read More}

Easy Summer Crock Pot Cooking
I don’t really have much desire to cook traditional meals during the summer. It’s just too hot to turn on the oven, so we usually head out to the barbecue, toss a salad or use the crock pot. I absolutely love using the crock pot for any meal, even breakfast or dessert! Simply put, the crock pot generates far less heat when cooking than an oven or stove top. This is the first and possibly the best reason to utilize {Read More}

Kindle’s “Before You Go” Feature
Back in March of this year, Amazon added a “Before You Go” feature to the latest generation Kindle. If that’s not your Kindle, then this post will not apply to your reading experience. The last page turn now brings up a Before You Go page which invites the reader to rate the book just read and share it on Twitter and Facebook. The rating and sharing capability are independent of each other, so you can do one without the other. {Read More}

Vintage Recipes Using Vintage Tools
Sometimes we take for granted the kitchen tools we have come to love. Such as: Food Processor Citrus Juicer Zipped Plastic Bags Bag Clips I was cooking vintage recipes for my new cookbook series, but didn’t expect to use vintage tools! The Food Processor Many times I will opt not to drag out my food processor because it’s actually more work to clean it and put it back together than just chopping or rolling manually. Seriously – I have a {Read More}

Brewing Loose Leaf Tea
I’ll admit, I don’t drink much tea, but my son gave me quite a few cans of loose “gourmet style” tea when he moved to Chicago. And it sat in the cupboard for months until I was sick and wanted to make a soothing tea for my throat. The problem was I only wanted to make one cup of tea and I didn’t want the loose tea leaves left in the cup. That’s when I thought about those small coffee {Read More}

Classic Coconut Cream Pie
In the Pantry Classics Sneak Peek The classic Coconut Cream Pie has been re-made for today’s busy people using boxed pudding and other ingredients that were not part of the original recipe. After making this recipe the first time, I realized the recipe, as written, was flawed. So I set out to fix it and give you a few options for serving the pie. This recipe is very creamy, but can be served with toasted coconut and sweetened whipped cream. {Read More}
