Tuesday Tales - Gray
Hello! It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

Welcome back! It’s time for another snippet from my new book! I'm now working on an M/M hockey romance titled Open Net. This is the second novella in the Cayuga Cougars duology featuring LGBT players. This story centers on a young goalie, August Miles, a newcomer to the Cougars that we met in Mario and Lila's novella. This week our two leading men meet!
This story contains crude language and gay sexual situations. We are telling tales about hockey players so if that offends now would be the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales offering. Our word prompt for the week is "Gray”.

"Oh look, it's Salvatore! SAL!" Heather shouted over the horn section of the band. I glanced over her head and my gaze locked with warm, dark brown eyes set into an amazingly handsome face. I stumbled over my big feet as a rush of attraction danced over my skin. Salvatore gently wiggled around a dancing couple. As he closed the distance, I checked him out using Jack as a shield. Sal was an older Latina man, late thirties to early forties by the looks. His skin was tawny brown, his hair short and black as obsidian with lots of grayhighlights. He was shorter than me by a good five or six inches. His compact frame was casually outfitted in jeans and a soft summer shirt with short sleeves.
He's hot, August. Try not to fall off the dock. Heather and Sal embraced each other, his eyes staying on me even as they briefly hugged. I glanced down at my feet and then up at the clear blue sky.
"Congrats fellow new nurse, " Heather bubbled as they separated.
"Congratulations to you as well," Salvatore said. His voice was strong and deep. I liked it. I also liked how he stepped around Heather to stand by me. I could smell his cologne now. It was earthy. I glanced to the side to find his gaze still on me. "When you told the class you were pregnant; I didn't think you'd be able to graduate on time. She's an amazing young woman who pulled off something incredible, isn't she?"
"Yeah, she's amazing," I replied while trying to tear my sight from his.
"I had tons of help," Heather said and shifted her son to her other hip. "Brooks watched him at night so I could study and not fall behind. Vic and Dan took him every weekend so I could grab extra credit assignments."
"But it was you who broke her back to ensure she graduated on time," Sal argued pleasantly, our gazes still entangled. "Is this young man a friend of yours?"
"Oh gosh, I am such a bean-head!" Salvatore Castenada, this is August Miles. Augie plays goalie for the Cayuga Cougars," she said while bouncing Jack up and down. "Sal here was in my graduating class and is a new nurse too." Heather patted Sal's biceps affectionately.
"It's a real pleasure to meet you, August." Sal extended his hand. I placed my damp palm over his dry one and fissures of desire crawled up my arm. We shook for much longer than my father would have found acceptable.

Tuesday Tales - Catch
Hello! It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

It's time to kick off a new book! I'm now working on another M/M hockey romance titled Open Net. This is the second novella in the Cayuga Cougars duology featuring LGBT players. This story centers on a young goalie, August Miles, a newcomer to the Cougars that we met in Mario and Lila's novella. This week we're at the beginning of August's story and Victor Kalinski, an associate coach on August's team, is mouthing off about a disco band his baby momma hired for her college graduation party.
This story contains crude language and gay sexual situations. We are telling tales about hockey players so if that offends now would be the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales offering. Our word prompt for the week is "Catch.

"I knew it," Vic smiled then leaned on me just a bit. "I told Heather that but she informed me that I was a smashed asshole and hired this lame-ass band anyway. If you see me wading out into Seneca Lake with a glazed look on my face, don't be alarmed. I'm just drowning myself to end the misery this music is inflicting."
"Okay, I'll let you kill yourself," I muttered and dared a glance at the bearded redhead hanging off me. He gave me a scorching look.
"I was kidding, Augie."
"Oh, yeah, I knew that." I doubted I would ever really catch on about the sarcasm. Since that was mainly what Victor spoke, I was doomed to make a fool out of myself every time we made dialog happen.
"No you didn't, you dweeb. So, did you bring a date?"
"Oh no, nope, no date," I stammered, my gaze roaming the gathering in search of Mario and Madame Lila.
They were late. I really needed someone to buffer this man and me. The longer he talked the more anxious I got. Why he always needled me about my social life was another mystery for the ages. Maybe he was like a dog, and once he sensed your fear he just kept nipping at your heels. Not that Victor was mean. Well, okay, he was mean, but he was that way with everyone, not just me.
Probably it was just me being over-sensitive. Lila always says I'm too gentle of a soul to be associating with this wild band of skating gorillas. I liked Lila. She was the closest thing to a mother I had ever known, and she was so at peace with herself and her identity. I really envied her. Hell, I envied all the Cougars who were able to be themselves in public.

Venom defensive coach Dot "The Shadow" West has made a nice life for herself. She's found a new position on an up-and-coming women's professional hockey team, her daughter is thriving, she gets along well with her fellow coaches and her players admire and respect her. She's proud to have accomplished so much by herself. Everything is running smoothly in her life with no help from anyone, thank you very much.
Sadly, there's one annoying glitch in Dot's new life, and it's in the form of good-looking Theo Grier, former Wildcat goalie and co-host of a controversial sports talk radio show based in Philadelphia, home of the Venom. When Dot loses her cool and calls in to spar with Theo on the air her structured and solitary existence takes a sudden unexpected turn. Before she can hip check the smug fool out of her life she somehow ends up working with him on a new talk radio sports program.
Can she defend her heart against the unwanted feelings Theo is stirring up? Or will she continue to guard herself, and her past decisions, against the offensive moves being made by the ex-goalie? The only man to ignite her passions - and ire - in years?

Tuesday Tales - Fly
Hello! It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

It's time to have more zombie fun! Today we have one final excerpt from my LGBTQ zom-rom-com Two Guys Walk Into an Apocalypse 4 - Zombies, Zendra, and Ziegfeld Follies. Sadly, we've gotten to the part where releasing more from the book will reveal too much. Next week I'll be sharing from a new story, Open Net, which will be the second novella of the Cayuga Cougars LGBT duology..
This story contains crude language, gore because of the darn zombies, and gay sexual situations. If that offends now would be the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales offering. Our word prompt for the week is "Fly".

Slug and his friends seemed to enjoy the fact that they could now hit me in new places. The bloody nose and ringing ear they gave me added new pain to the already sickening agony I was in. They then went back to work on my body. They could kill me, rape me, cut me into bits and feed me to the moose, but I was not telling them where to find Fort Acceptance. Finally, after a lifetime of abuse, the leader of this band of monsters reappeared. His voice broke through the terror of yet another round.
"Enough!" I heard Mercury bark. His voice dragged me out of the hazy world of unconsciousness. Someone doused me yet again. I hacked up sour water and lay on my face in the dirt, trying to clear my lungs. Coughing and groaning I could offer no resistance when a warm hand settled on the back of my cold, wet neck. "I admire your determination. Pity we don't have time to continue this but we have a Zendra representative to meet at the border. Why don't you take a little nap now, Mr. Cooke and we'll continue our conversation on the road back to the good old USA?"
No one had to wallop me upside the head. My body liked the sound of a nap and I flew face first into a swoon that would have made Pittypat Hamilton jealous.

A Hat Trick of Questions #2
Before we leap into the questioning and answering, I'd like to thank everyone who read my last Q&A post. It got the highest hit count that I've had on my blog for many a moon! So thank you to everyone who took the time to visit and read. You all are truly the best. So, let's get right into round 2, shall we?

What's your writing schedule for the rest of the year?
I just finished working on a short story for a charity hockey novella slated to release in early 2017. Faceoff is a 10K tale that will be a prequel for my upcoming LGBT Brighton Wood Blades hockey romance series. In it, you'll get to meet Dance Caldecott, one half of the duo of leading men in the first book of the series. We'll get to see how and why he ends up where he does when the Brighton Wood Blades series begins in the fall of 2017.
After I wrap up Faceoff, I'm going to start Playmaker, which will be an F/F Venom novella. I'm excited and nervous about this one because I've never written a lesbian romance. I just adore the two romantic leads already. Their chemistry is sparking like mad and that's only from character bios and a few scenes I had to write down beforehand!
Following Playmaker,I might begin work on the next Lake Erie shifter novella. There's a story about a gay nightclub owner and the crooner he hires and falls in love with that is beginning to nudge me strongly as well. Chances are good it will be one of these two that I choose to do for NaNoWriMo this year, but which one is still undecided.
I have plans to whip up an M/M hockey romance short story that will be free for my newsletter readers, so make sure you sign up and keep opening those newsletters! More info about the free short will be available over the coming months. And of course, I better get cracking on the second novella for the Cayuga Cougars duology. Looks like I'll be busy for the next few months!
Will we see Mario and Madame Lila soon? I must have this book. No. Really. I MUST have this book!
All the Mario and Madame Lila fans will be happy to hear that I'm hoping to get the second part of the Cayuga Cougar duology written by the end of the year. Add another book to that writing schedule list above! I do have Lila and Mario's novella completed. As soon as I get the second novella done I'll hustle things along as quickly as I possibly can. I cannot wait to bring you these two stories so if the pub accepts the book, we might hopefully see a release sometime in the middle of 2017. Fingers crossed!
If you could spend a week in the world of a famous book series written by another author which world would you choose?
Oh boy, this is tough! There are so many wonderful series out there that I enjoy. Do I reallyhave to pick only one? Okay, then it'll be seven days in the world of the Percy Jackson novels. I have this massive love of Greek mythology and spending time at Camp Half Blood would be the best! Although a week in Caldwell, New York with all those sexy Black Dagger Brotherhood boys wouldn't be too difficult to accept either. I do love me some V and Qhuay.

Tuesday Tales - Picture Prompt
Hello! It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

It's time to have more zombie fun! Today we have another excerpt from my LGBTQ zom-rom-com Two Guys Walk Into an Apocalypse 4 - Zombies, Zendra, and Ziegfeld Follies. This story contains crude language, gore because of the darn zombies, and gay sexual situations. If that offends now would be the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales offering.
It`s our picture prompt week and the excerpt must reflect the image and be under 300 words. Don`t forget to visit the other talented Tuesday Tales authors. Thanks for stopping by!

"That certainly is good news. Your value to us has just quadrupled. News along the border is that Zendra is very interested in fags and dykes." He lifted my gun from her face then waved at the crying girl. She was hustled back into the woods, tripping and falling over her dirty bare feet, two men roughly escorting her."Thank you for telling me your name, Mr. Cooke, but when I asked where you were from, I didn't mean before the plague, I meant where are you from now? Where's your camp? Where are the others you live with?"
"I'm alone now," I replied as I studied the direction Iris had been drug off in. "My husband was infected." I'd heard once that the best lies had truth in them.
Mercury shook his head while placing my handgun back to the table at his left. Someone behind me delivered a kick to the back of my right leg. I went to one knee with a pained grunt.
"See, that's not the truth, Mr. Cooke. No one goes solo anymore. It's too dangerous. Safety in numbers, pack mentality, all that stuff." Mercury poured himself a glass of cold water and took a small sip, a devious smile tickling the corners of his mouth. He was the epitome of relaxation and nonchalance, as if he were sipping flavored water at an outdoor cafe. "Ah, that is refreshing." He took time to place his glass back to the table and pat at his mouth with a neatly folded handkerchief extracted from the inner pocket of his suit jacket. "So, where are you from?"
"I'm going it alone."
Mercury shook his head while tsking me softly. "I strongly suspect that's not the case, Mr. Cooke. Slug, have at it, but make sure he doesn't die. Zendra will cough up enough weapons, ammo, and provisions for his gay little ass to last us for six months." Mercury stood up and placed his hat atop his head. "Oh, and since he won't be going to a private customer, the ban on not hitting that movie star face is now lifted."
Off he went, into the woods, whistling Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah.
