Book Winner and Duck Dynasty
The winner of the signed copy of Not Your Average Fairy Tale is .....
Ilima Todd!
Shoot me an e-mail with your address and I'll get your book to ya! :)
I had an awesome birthday. I shared it with Father's Day this year, which I didn't mind too much. I have an amazing dad and hubby, so it was a party! One thing I discovered this weekend was my love for Duck Dynasty. I don't watch a lot of TV, but this is one I can't miss.
It's hilarious. And yes, I'm just barely getting into it because I thought it sounded SO weird.
I love how family oriented it is. I love how they are a close, if not crazy family. They all have different personalities and quirks. They get mad at each other, but forgive. They try new things together, make things work. And they respect each other.
My favorite character is Jace. I think he's so funny. He's kind of like a little kid, getting into trouble and all. And I love how he talks his brother Willie into doing things as well.
Si is hilarious too. He's so weird! Ha ha ha!
Anyway. I just thought I'd share my love for this show. It's funny, heartwarming, and awesome. Sometimes the food is a little ... interesting, but to each their own, right? :)
Do you guys watch that show? Have any other favorites shows you want to recommend? :)

Sports, obsessions and embarrassing talents ...
Here are a few more things you may not know about me. Fair warning, some are ridiculous... Ha ha ha. ;)
*I'm a HUGE fan of sports. I was on a softball comp team when I was younger and loved it. Second base was my preferred position. I even got chosen to play on an All-Star team. That was fun. :) I also played soccer for years and years. Our team was undefeated every year. I was right forward. Loved it. I wish I still played, but alas. Maybe when the kids get older.
*I was in the show choir in high school. It was actually pretty fun. I made my best guy friend dress up as a girl in a hula skirt and sang Honey Bun to him from South Pacific at our showcase. It was awesome! And hilarious. Not sure if he's ever forgiven me ... Ha ha ha.
*For a talent show when I was younger I was supposed to play the piano. Instead, to my Mom's horror, I got up and did the Woody Woodpecker laugh in front of the whole 3rd grade. Pretty sure she wanted to die. Ha ha ha. (I was totally awesome at it. I wish I could still do it...) I can do the Sponge Bob laugh too. Maybe I should be a voice in an animated film! ;)
*When I was little I was obsessed with horses. Like I had pictures on my walls, stuffed animals, little figurines. OBSESSED. I wanted my parents to buy me a horse SO bad, but it never happened. Which is probably good because I don't think it would have fit in our backyard ... I would play horses with my siblings and run like a horse down the hall. (Yes, I know. I was weird.) My sister claimed she loved horses too and I'd always tell her I loved them more because I was older. (Obviously I didn't sugar coat things...Ha ha. Don't worry, we're best friends still. :) I still don't have my dream horse, but that's okay. Maybe I'll write a book about one instead ...

Another interesting (or not) fact!
I'm very musical. A lot of people don't know this about me, but I can play a few things. And sing.
I've played the harp for 23 years. Yes, that huge instrument with all the strings. :) My hubby is my designated harp mover when I play different places. (He was dubbed that when we got married. My dad was ecstatic!) I play for weddings, receptions, parties, church. I've played at a few funerals, in a few nursing homes, school assemblies and I've even played in a hospital NICU. That was awesome. The babies were so calm. Not one of the monitors went off in the hour I played. When I stopped, the monitors started again. It was really amazing.
I played the flute in 7th grade. I can still play a solo I had to memorize for an assembly all those years ago.
I play the piano as well. Mostly stuff I like to make up, but if you put music in front of me I can sight read like a boss. I can't play hymns though. My short fingers don't stretch that far. :)
I love to sing. If anything is on the radio I always make up my own part to sing with it. Alto is my favorite part to sing. It's more challenging and fun for me to learn. I've been singing duets with my sister since we were 5 and 3. We've sang many places. Probably the same as where I've played my harp. (Minus the weddings and receptions.) Mostly church functions. :) My youngest sister sings with us now, so we are a trio. My mom plays the piano when we sing and we've had many memories of us sisters laughing our heads off trying to learn a song and my mom getting frustrated and threatening to walk out of the room. We'd always look over and see her shoulders shaking while she laughed quietly at the piano.
Good times.

In which I admit a dumb fear of mine ...
I have Hastenburaphobia.
I actually didn't know it had a name until about a year ago. Any guesses what it could be? :)
It's a fear of grass.
Yes. It's true. That soft, green carpet of grass in your backyard that's perfect to lay down and take a nap on?
I don't like it. Sure I like the looks of it, but the feel? Gross!!
My husband thought I was kidding when I told him I didn't like it. He soon found out that I was dead serious.
Things I won't do if it pertains to grass:
*I won't ever walk on it with bare feet. I'd freak out. My brother-in-law thought it would be funny to carry me out in the middle of the lawn, take my flip-flops off and leave me there. Not funny. I don't think I've ran so fast in my whole life! Ha ha.
*I won't sit on it.
*I'll sit on it with a blanket, but I won't like it.
*I'll never ever lay on it.
*If there are sprinklers involved, I'll wear flip-flops.
*If food or something falls on the grass, I won't eat it.
*If my kids are crying in the middle of the lawn and I don't have shoes on, I'll let them cry. (I'll conquer my fear for a few seconds if they're hurt or something. I'm not that crazy. :)
I know. I have a problem. I've had it since I was a little girl, so it's nothing new to me. People always think I'm weird though when I tell them I don't like grass.
Do you guys have any phobias?

A little known fact about me. Since it's my birthday week and all. ;)
It's my birthday this weekend, so this week I'm going to celebrate and party! I'm going to reveal several things about myself that you may not know. Since I mostly talk about writing, it will be a little different. ;) And I think I'll give away a copy of Not Your Average Fairy Tale to a lucky commenter as well!
So, to kick things off, I'll start with a secret.
I love video games. I know that's not a big deal to some people, but it is to me. Sometimes I'm ashamed to admit it, but now I'm not. They're fun and addicting. Which is why I can't really play them that often, but when I do my kids love me. :)
It's a huge deal if someone can beat my son at Mario Kart, and to say I can is AWESOME! Ha ha! We love the Wii at our house.
My game system of choice when I was young was Nintendo 64.
Yep. Old school. I played many a game of Mario Party, Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda, etc. Zelda was one of my very favorites. Link. I loved that guy. We have many memories battling enemies together.
Sometimes I miss those days.
Sega was another favorite.
Sonic!! :D
Do you guys have any secrets you're willing to share?

Writing and Creamies. What could be better?
I'm obsessed.
Seriously.
Strawberry Creamies are my downfall right now. They're creamy, fruity, blessedly cold, and OH so yummy.
I really have a problem.
Which is weird, since I'm not a big fan of fruity desserts. At all. I surprised myself when I realized I liked them. And now that I think about it ... I wish I didn't like them ...
Anyway. Enough about me eating my own weight in Creamies.
Writing is going great lately. I kind of got stuck in a rut for a few months there and fell off the bloggy universe as well. When I'm in a writing rut, I'm in it for the long haul and find myself not even blogging anymore. I'm not sure why. I think everyone has good days and bad. I just had to find my groove and hopefully it's here to stay for a while. We'll see.
How are all of you guys? Any awesome news I've missed? I miss you all! I'm sure you're all having a fantastic summer like me! :D Here's to busy summers full of Creamies, writing and hopefully a lot of reading. I may have to squeeze some exercise in there as well...Maybe ... :)

Things I'm loving this week.
1. Books. I've read several books the past few weeks and have loved them! One is Cragbridge Hall: The Inventors Secret by Chad Morris. If you like middle grade, you'll love this. Especially if you liked Fablehaven or Janitors. I'm reading Tuesday's at the Castle by Jessica Day George right now. It's really good. I'm on a middle grade kick at the moment!
2. My new desk. The hubby bought me a new computer desk. I love it! :D You guys know the need for a good writing desk. Other people will probably just think I'm weird that I'm so excited about it... ;)
3. Summer break. Even though my kids are crazy, I'm glad to have them home for a few months! We've already done some fun things. Can't wait for the rest of the summer!
4. Patience. I know it's hard to wait for things, but I'm happy I'm getting more patient in my old age... Kind of ... :)
5. My hubby. He had a birthday yesterday and we left all the kids with my parents to go out to dinner with just the two of us. It was nice. And a little weird with no kids. My birthday is in a few weeks, so we'll have to do it again!
Have a nice weekend everyone! :)

Things I'm loving this week
Yes, I know I missed last week. Last week was seriously the busiest week EVER. Between soccer games, baseball games, dance recitals, piano lessons, last projects to get done before school gets out ... phew. We're glad May is almost over. Anyway, here's what I'm loving this week. :)
1. School's almost out! Hooray! Hooray! Just picture me singing that. Because that's what I did when I wrote that ... Yes, I know I'm a dork. :)
2. If you didn't see this pic on Facebook, I got Jenn Johannson's new book Insomnia in the mail yesterday! It will probably scare the living crap out of me when I read it, but I'm excited!! And don't ask me why I made a weird face. I'm just cool like that.
3. My little man is crawling! I can't believe he's getting so big. I know I say that like all the time, but they seriously do grow up so fast.
4. We're planning all of our summer activities. We even have a poster full of them. The kids are beyond excited, so hopefully we'll be able to cross a bunch of things off our list.
5. I'm working on a super secret project. It's something I've never ever written before. I'm scared. And excited. We'll see how it goes. :)
Have an awesome weekend everyone!

Cover Reveal!
I'm excited to reveal Cassie Mae's cover today! The book sounds amazing and I'm so excited to read it!
Isn't it awesome? So excited for you, Cassie! Here is a little more about the book. It's on sale June 29th!!
Rising star Cassie Mae introduces New Adult readers to a practical soon-to-be college freshman who seems to have everything—until a special guy shows her what she’s been missing.
In the wealthy town of Sundale, Kelli Pinkins has hatched the perfect plan to capitalize on her sweet reputation. For a generous fee, she will be every trust-fund baby’s dream: a Friday-night alibi, the “girlfriend” or “BFF” that parents dream about. With college approaching in the fall, Kelli’s services are in demand more than ever, which means that her social life is nonexistent. But Kelli is A-okay with that. She’s raking in cash for school. Besides, relationships are tricky, and sometimes very messy. She’d rather be at home on Xbox LIVE, anyway. Then the unexpected happens: She meets college stud Chase Maroney.
Chase isn’t like the preppy, privileged guys Kelli usually meets in Sundale. For starters, he’s twentysomething, always wears black., and he shoots back one-liners as fast as she can dish them out. But Kelli’s attempts to drive Chase away falter when she realizes that he treats her like he really knowsher, like he cares about knowing her. When Kelli finally gives in to the delicious kiss she’s been fighting for so long, she faces a tough decision: make Chase a real-life boyfriend and risk her heart . . . or keep her clients and lose her first true love.
Advance praise for Friday Night Alibi
“Totally entertaining with as many swoon-worthy moments as hilarious ones, Friday Night Alibi is a must-read.”—Jolene Perry, co-author of Out of Play
“A fun, funny, and fantastic story, this is one you will read in a day, and pick up to re-read again the next.”—Kelley Lynn, author of Fraction of Stone
Pre-order Friday Night Alibi:
