The Olympics!!
Has anyone else been loving the Olympics? So awesome. I've gotten next to zero writing done, but I don't care. I'm addicted. And the Olympics aren't on every day, so I love watching it when it is.
It's so amazing watching these athletes work so hard for something and make it so far. I admit I've had a few tears watching the past week or so. The medal winners, the ones who fall short. It's an emotional ride for a lot of those people.
It just goes to show you though, dreams can come true. Things work out. Sometimes they don't, but it's so awesome when something does.
Now, I'm going back to watching the track and field this morning. I hope everyone has a great day!!
Have you been watching? What has your favorite event been? I love the women's gymnastics and swimming. Diving is so cool too. And water polo? BRUTAL! I could never tread water that long!

Release date celebration and some reviews
Don't forget to enter my giveaway I posted yesterday! Just scroll down a bit. :)
So, what does a person do on their release date? Well, they go visit their sister and her new baby boy, who is absolutely precious and adorable. And my hubby and kids took me out to dinner. Granted I can't eat very late, since I get killer heartburn now, but we had a great night. It's weird knowing people are actually reading my book. Weird and awesome. I've already had someone ask about the sequel, which comes out next year. I'm about halfway done writing the first draft and hope to be finished with it by the end of the year. I'm loving visiting Ash's world again. It's so much fun. A few people have asked if I'm doing a blog tour. I have one planned for October after my little guy gets here. There will be giveaways and a few other fun things!
What are you guy working on? Querying? Revising? I'd love to hear about YOUR projects! :D

Dreams
If someone told me I'd be releasing a book this year, I wouldn't have believed them. When I left my agent in February, all I felt was rejection and sadness. I really didn't know what to do. What to think. I honestly thought my book was dead. I moped around the house for a few days, tried to work on other things, but my book kept calling to me.
And I knew it wasn't over. Somehow, that little spark of hope made me submit to smaller publishers. I didn't think anything would happen, but I thought "at least I tried". Three days later I had interest and a week after that, a book contract for 2 books.
I'm still in shock. I've seen my book on Amazon, I have the e-book version on my Kindle. My paperbacks are on their way to my house. You'd think I'd be shouting my happiness to the rooftops by now. But, no. It's so surreal. When I think about how much I went through to get to this point, I'm so humbled. Who knows if I'll ever be able to sell another book. Who knows if I'll get another agent someday. For now, I need to stop worrying about that and focus on what I have accomplished so far. And once my book has been out into the world and people love/hate it, I can think more about my career and set another goal. I can think about what I really want to do next.
I hope at least one of you reads this and realizes you don't have to give up on your dream. Even if you go through a few books and no agent wants it. There is a story inside of you that will eventually get you there. Keep moving forward, keep writing more books, and someday, you can tell your own story. Yes, I'm a sap and no I don't care. :)
Stay tuned for Wednesday. My book will be available on Kindle! And I may have a giveaway or two that day. ;)

1. The Olympics start tonight!! :D :D :D I LOVE watching the Olympics. Seriously. I'm like glued to the t.v. for a few weeks. LOVE IT! GO USA! :D
2. My kids start school in less than a month. Mixed feelings, but I'm excited they'll have something to do other than sit at home. I'll have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartner. It'll just be my 2 year old and me at home for a few weeks and then I'll have a newborn as well. Lot's of changes coming!
3. So ... uh ... my book comes out on Wednesday. Technically, the paperback is already out, but the Kindle version will be out Wednesday. It's SO weird to see it on Amazon. Weird, but awesome. Stay tuned for a giveaway or two next week! :)
4. I love watching my little guy play Lego Star Wars on the Wii. Not sure why. And they're coming out with a LOTR's one!! I'm totally going to buy it. For me ... ;)
5. Pretty sure I need a brownie. I don't care if it's nine in the morning. It sounds good!
Have a good weekend everyone!! See you next week!! :D

What I'm feeling a few weeks before my release date...
Guess what? My book comes out in 2 1/2 weeks. Can we say crazy? I'm really so excited, but so, so nervous.
I wanted to talk a little about what it's like to actually have a book come out. I'm not quite there yet, but honestly I've felt so many emotions over the past few weeks. Both good and bad. Why don't we start with the good?
*Having a book out to the public is going to be awesome. It means people will actually be reading it. Which terrifies me, really, but it also means I fulfilled a dream! And when I look back at all the work I went through to get to this place, it feels good. I accomplished something a lot of people aren't able to. I'm proud of myself for hanging on enough to get this far.
*People might actually like my characters and pick up my next books. I'm crossing my fingers. :)
*I'll have a real book to hold in my hands. I don't think anything could compare to this moment. I ordered my books over the weekend and they should be here soon. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.
*People might enjoy the story. It's different and fun, and hopefully they'll be left wanting more.
Now, the bad. Oh, the bad.
*People might hate it.
I've thought about this happening ever since I started querying my book. You think I'd be used to rejection from querying, but no. I know people are going to trash my writing. I know some of them won't connect with my characters and possibly hate them. It makes me sad, but honestly, it's going to happen. And it's okay. I chose this career path and everything that comes with it. I'll hopefully have some people like my book, so it will balance the bad out. Maybe.
*Ranting reviews. We've all seen them on Goodreads. The ones where reviewers pick out every single thing wrong with the book, using quotes and everything. I respect reviewers, I really do. How else do we get our books out there? I know it will hurt if I read some of them though. I may stay away from any and all reviews until my book has been out for a while. I can take criticism, but not rudeness. Know what I mean?
*What if I can't get anything else published? I do have a sequel coming out next year, but what if I can't write anything else good enough to attract an agent or editor? That thought is always swimming around in my mind. No matter how many ideas I get.
What it all comes down to, is that I'm very happy where I'm at right now. I'm nervous, scared, excited, you name it. And that's normal I think. I'm sure it never goes away either. So, bring it on, I say. I wrote a book and loved it so much that I never gave up on it until someone else loved it too. And I think that's good enough for me. :)
Also, go enter to win my book on Goodreads! The contest goes until August 20th. ;) Hopefully that's the right link ...

Random Thoughts From This Week
1. It's hot. I've never been pregnant during the summer and it sucks! My kids are getting bored, since we don't go outside much. Today is a little better though. It's cloudy, so we may have to go to the park.
2. This publishing business is so hard. All this talk about trends and different genres dying makes me sad. I for one, love paranormal. I love reading it and writing it. But no one's buying it. I've heard the same about dystopian. :( What do you think will happen with these dying trends? Will they come back someday? Will editors only publish contemporary and science fiction from now on?
3. Wheat Thins are delicious. I'm eating them right now. ;)
4. My friend Jolene Perry has some fantastic news! Head over to her blog to find out what!
5. Where are you in your writing journey? Querying? On submission? Writing your first novel? I'd love to hear about it!
Have a great weekend!
