'ROAD TO SOMEWHERE' COVER REVEAL!

I'm so excited to be a part of Kelley and Jenny's cover reveal of their book ROAD TO SOMEWHERE! It sounds AMAZING.
Since the book is about sisters, they had the fabulous idea to have everyone participating in the reveal add a little story or something about a sibling relationship.
I didn't really choose a specific story, but I will say my siblings are my best friends. I have two sisters, and one brother.  All younger. Growing up, we didn't have cousins close in age or a lot of friends on our street, so basically all we had were each other. And honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Even now, married with four kids, I talk to both my sisters every single day. My brother would probably think it was weird to talk to him every day... Haha. But seriously, they're my very best friends. There are no other people I'd rather hang out with. We love each other, we 'get' each other. And I'm blessed to have them in my life.
And now, all sappiness aside, here is the big reveal!! :D
New! From Bloomsbury Spark, a sunny heartwarming story of discovery and sisterhood.
A road trip. A singing competition. And super-hot cowboys.
What could be better?
For Charlie, a post-high school road trip isn't just a vacation, it's  life changing . While her parents think she's helping a friend move, a chance at fame is the real reason to grab her best friends and  drive to L.A . But when her super annoying, uber-responsible, younger sister, Lucy, has to tag along, it isn't quite the summer of  fun  she imagined.
Add in a detour to her grandparents' ranch in Texas, and between  mucking the stalls , down-home cookin’, and drool worthy ranch hands, this could just turn into the best, and most complicated, summer of their lives.

Isn't it gorgeous? I can't wait to read it! Congratulations, Kelley and Jenny!! :D
Also, don't forget to enter the giveaway!!

Goals and Stuff. :)

Can you believe 2013 is almost over? SERIOUSLY! Seriously. Freaking crazy. This year has been insane. But a good insane. :) At the end of each year, I like to look back on the goals I made in January to see how I did. And to see what goals I actually made...because I don't really look at them again after I write them. Yes. I'm weird.

Let's see how I did!

1. Polish Not Your Average Happy Ending. Turn into Editor so it can be published this year. DONE! But it won't be published until March, which is fine. At least I finished, right? Haha.

2. Finish my WIP. It's a contemporary YA and it's scary writing so far out of my magical fantasy comfort zone. But I love this book. And I think it's a good thing it scares me so much. DONE! Fastest book I've ever written. And I love it. Love, Lucas will hit the shelves in Spring 2015!

3. Query my WIP. I'm absolutely terrified of querying agents, but I'm going to be brave and do it. You'd think I'd be a little more brave since I've been there before, but no. That's why I'm so scared. Been there. Done that. Hated it. DONE! And found my amazingly awesome agent, Nicole. :)

4. Enjoy writing. Last year I was so caught up in what I was doing wrong and so critical of myself, I lost the joy of writing for a while. I only finished one book last year and gave up on a bunch of others for that very reason. I'm getting back into loving it again. I'm done stressing over if it's good enough to get an agent or not. I want to just love the words, the stories and characters I write about. That's enough for me. DONE! I'm loving writing again. I'll admit it's still hard, but I love seeing how much I grow with each book.

5. Finish one more book and query it. DONE. Kind of. I did finish one more book, but my agent and I aren't shopping it around just yet...

6. I'm going to blog more. I've missed it. I may have to do it only once or twice a week, but as long as I'm blogging a little, I'll be happy. :) DANG. I've been a horrible blogger this year. With my little 1-year old running around, school for the kidlets, dance classes, piano and soccer. (For the kidlets, not me...) Yes. They take up all my time. Hopefully I can do better next year. I miss all my bloggy friends. :)

So much happened this year that I didn't expect to happen. I don't know how or why, but I'm so grateful to the people who have cheered me on through everything. I'm so excited to see good things happen next year. Not only in my life, but yours as well. Thank you for sticking with me this year, even though I don't post as often anymore. I'll do better. Hopefully. I'll be posting new goals in January, so I'll see you next year! ;) Bring on 2014!

My Exciting News!!

I've been dying to announce my news for a while, so when a few of my friends saw my announcement on Publisher's Marketplace this morning, I was SO EXCITED!

Here is the official announcement!

November 1, 2013

Children's:
Young Adult
Chantele Sedgwick's LOVE, LUCAS, follows a teen grieving over her older brother's death who, after finding a notebook full of letters he wrote to her, tries to take control of her depression, fall in love, and start living her life again, to Nicole Frail at Sky Pony Press, in a nice deal, for publication in Spring 2015, by Nicole Resciniti at The Seymour Agency (World). I still can't believe it. I'm so excited and nervous and scared and SO happy! This book is so so special to me. It's the hardest, yet easiest book I've ever written. I know that may not make sense, but it does to me I guess. :)

I'm so incredibly humbled to have so many amazing people that have helped me get this far. Thank you to EVERYONE! And a HUGE thanks to my awesome agent and all around amazing person, Nicole Resciniti. Without her, this never would have happened.

I'm going to post about my journey to this point next week. And I might throw in a giveaway or two... But for now, I'm going to CELEBRATE! Have an amazing weekend everyone!!! :D

A New Look!

I've been wanting to change my blog for a while now, because I'm weird and like to switch things up a lot, but I'm not skilled in creating cute bloggy stuff. So I asked Jolene Perry for ideas, since her blog is always super cute. She not only had ideas, she changed my whole blog look for me. SHE. IS. AWESOME!! Thank you Jo! All I need is a new author photo, which I'm working on. I'll have a new one up soon. :)

So...what do you guys think? Like it? I love the simplicity of it all. :)

Now to clean up my Facebook page... And I have no idea how to change my Twitter stuff. I thought I was pretty technology savvy, but obviously I was wrong. Maybe I should just ask my eight year old. Haha. I'm getting old. :P

Yes, I know. I'm in a blogging slump...

Do you ever get overwhelmed sometimes with social media? I find myself stressing about Facebook and Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Actually, scratch Pinterest. I freaking love that website.

Anyway. I've neglected my sad little blog. More than I'd like to admit. I am still here though. Still writing, still being a mom to my four sweet kids. Blogging is kind of the last thing I think of doing lately, but I still want to post. I still want to interact with the AMAZING people I've met through this here blog.

I'll admit I'm much more active on Facebook. I'm working on Twitter. And I'll pop back in here once in a while for good news or an awesome book I've read. Or an interview or two. I just have so much on my plate that I can't commit to any kind of blogging schedule without stressing myself right now. I'm sure things will die down. Hopefully. But such is life. It's forever changing. :)

How are you guys? Any good news I've missed? Anything amazing happening in life or your writing? Do share!

On "Being Good Enough".

I just read a post on Shannon Messenger's blog, which has described how I've been feeling lately.

Like I'll never be good enough. That no one will ever publish me again because my writing sucks. Or I'm not active enough online.

I know I have a book published, but my writing journey is still beginning. I know how it feels to want something so bad only to be disappointed when it doesn't happen. I've queried four different books. I left my former agent and had to start from scratch to find a new one. I've been rejected hundreds of times. I had a book go on submission and not sell.

I've been there. It sucks. I know how it feels to want to throw in the towel. I still feel that way sometimes. A book deal with a big publisher would be AWESOME. But things take time. And they happen when they're supposed to. When the timing is right and all the stars align. :)

We ARE good enough. And we each have our own unique journey's. Some are hard, some are easy, some are in between. But we all have them. So, go read this post. It's awesome. And if you're having a hard time and you're thinking about giving up, don't do it. You're not alone.

I'm BACK! :D

This past month has been INSANE. I've seriously had mini-vacations every weekends since the beginning of July. And then I went on a writing retreat with some of my very favorite people this past weekend. It was amazing to sit up in the mountains and write. So, it's been busy. It's been fun and I've had a blast, but I'm ready to get back to a little normalcy at my house. :)

School starts two weeks from yesterday. Two of my babies will be going back. It will be weird with just my two littles at home. They're ready to go back though. They are SO bored!

I've done a lot of editing lately and I'm so happy to say my book Not Your Average Happy Ending is ALMOST DONE! I should be getting a cover soon AND it should be out in the next month or so. SO exciting. I'm happy to get this book out into the world.

As far as writing goes, I'm doing the same old thing. Working on several different projects because I can't just work on one. :P Anyone else have this problem? Ha ha.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm happy to be back in bloggy land and I'll make it a point to post more now that the summer is drawing to a close. I'll figure out my new schedule and hopefully be able to visit you guys more. I miss you all! Thanks for sticking around for so long. You guys rock.

Also, have I missed any good news? Feel free to share! :D

Things I'm Loving This Week

Wow. This week flew by. We've been busy with summer things and are having a blast. :) Here's a few things we've been up to.

1. Swimming lessons. I love watching my kids swim. They're doing so good and learning so much. The only problem with it is I have to refrain from jumping in the pool. I LOVE swimming. *sigh*

2. My little guy went to day camp for cub scouts on Monday. Can I tell you how hard it is for me to see him grow up? My oldest baby is eight! EIGHT! I'm getting old. He had a blast though and is learning so much.

3. It's so hard writing with a 9 month old crawling around and demanding my attention all day. And he's teething. Needless to say he's been 'super happy'. He's lucky he's cute... :)

4. I'm working on three different projects right now. Am I insane? Yes. It's definitely a possibility. I usually only work on one at a time, but you know. You gotta do what you gotta do. Do you guys write one or a few projects at a time? I'm curious if I really am insane or not ... It's not looking good ... ha ha ha. ;)

5. I've been reading A LOT lately. It feels good. I love reading and I've missed it the past few months. Any book recommendations for me? I'm a huge fan of YA. ;)

Have an awesome weekend! I won't be around much the next few weeks because of vacations and things. Which is good. It means I'm busy and I'm spending time with my sweet little family. I will pop back in occasionally to see how everyone is doing, but I'm taking a little summer break. Yay for summer! :)
