The perfect cover
So today I joined Shutterstock in an attempt to find a suitable new cover image for The Fall. I like the one I have for the ebook edition but I figured I might need something a little more dynamic for the printbook version. About four hours later I ended up with something that referenced the original cover but is a lot more striking. Once I figure out how to upload pictures on this blog post I'll show you all what it looks like. I've also got covers for the two sequels as well as one for The Girl From Yesterday as well.

The perfect edit
This is it. The Fall came back from my brilliant new editor Pamela Gifford. I've been through all her revisions and now the book is as perfect as it's ever going to be. I'm not going to touch it ever again, I promise As far as I'm aware there are no grammar errors and if anyone has problems with the plot or the characters then that's their opinion. I'm okay with it now. The Fall is finished and now it's time to put all my energy into the sequel, which is about half finished. Of course I still need to get the paperback edition of The Fall printed but hopefully that shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Hopefully.

The passport photo from hell
I've been putting off getting my passport photo for a while now. I'm going to New York in December and my old passport is out of date. I wouldn't normally find filling in forms to be much of a chore except when you have to get your photo taken. If you've seen the pic on my author page you'll know that I don't take a very good photo. I end up either looking like a crazy person or a convict. Today I decided to get it over and done with. After the photo booth stole a five pound note from me I had to buy a strawberry slushy and see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter before I even dared set foot in that soul (and money) stealing contraption again.
Suffice to say my new passport photos have done a really good job of conveying me as an escaped mental patient. I'm not going to spend any more money on this, though. For the next ten years my passport will have the world's worst photo on it and damn the consequences!

Createspace
I've decided that, when The Fall is back from the editor, that I'm going to create paperback copies of the book through Createspace. I signed up for it yesterday, messed around on the website for a bit, and ended up looking for cover artists for three hours. I found loads of artists I liked but decided to do something myself to save money. I love the original cover for my ebook edition of |The Fall so I thought I might as well keep that. It cost me nothing because I did it myself (well, it cost me about a week in time and several piles of chewed off nails). If anybody has experience of Createspace please let me know.

Gone to edit
After several reviews of bad grammar I've swallowed my pride and sent The Fall to a professional editor. After that people can complain as much as they want about the story of my book but not about the grammar as I'm sure it'll be perfect. Maybe I should've had it properly edited before but I suppose like most writers I tend to think I'm infallible when it comes to grammar. The good news of this is that I've decided to try and get paperback copies of the book published, probably by Createspace. I love reading ebooks and about 80 per cent of what I read now is on my iPad but I still love the feel of paper books. I have this 100 year old Jane Austin book that I inherited from my Grandfather and it just has this wonderful smell to it that you can't get from an ebook.

The Ballad of Scotch Eggs
Is there anything as delicious as Scotch Eggs? My family had a sort of Jubilee lunch today and we all fought over who got to eat the Scotch Eggs. I won, mainly because I hid one. Then we all sat down and watched Journey 2 : The Mysterious Island. The movie was surprisingly good and the picture was very sharp on a large HD screen. Yet I'll always remember the Queen's golden jubilee as the time I ate loads of Scotch Eggs and watched my newly spayed cat trying to rip off her Elizabethan collar...

Excuse for a party
I've never been much of a royalist but the jubilee has made me into one. The entire country seems to be coming together to celebrate this event. My local park is having some type of fair thing and I will be going, even if I don't feel like it or the weather's scorching. I did celebrate last night by eating a few Scotch eggs, and a bit of chocolate, and some ice cream.
What is everyone else doing for the Jubilee? Anything interesting?
