David grew up with privilege—the privilege of being immersed in reading from a very early age. A fan of fantasy, comics, and mythology, he eventually would become an English teacher where he could help foster a love of literature with his students. This love would bring about the Task Force: Gaea series, a Greek mythology fantasy set in the modern world. His first three books, Finding Balance , Memory's Curse, and The Liar's Prophecy are out now. The fourth book, The Archer's Paradox as well as an anthology tied to Memory's Curse are due out in 2016. He is living his dream, as it were, and resides in Land O' Lakes, FL with his cat, Shayna.

Brief Thoughts on Hawkman #1

Robert Venditti, writer
Bryan Hitch, penciller
Andrew Currie/Bryan Hitch, inkers
Alex Sinclair, colorist

Summary

Cover: From the outset, Hawkman, classic mace in hand, prepares to fight an onslaught of hawkmen of a sort. I’m a big fan of the hairy-chested hero, so this cover did not disappoint.
A brief intro to Carter Hall, including references to his former incarnations. He’s in pursuit of the past... Read more of this blog post »

“We still have time to back out, I guess, if we want to. I don't see the karmic police coming to take us into existential custody, y'know?”
David Berger

“This story twists the ancient myths we grow up with,” Berger says, “where what the reader knows about the Olympian gods, or thinks he knows, is challenged in fresh and curious ways. One god’s journey and actions unimaginably affect the entire universe.

Berger took from childhood experiences to create this saga. “My own fascination with Greek mythology and comic books helped bring this story to life. If it weren't for characters like Wonder Woman or ancient heroes like Perseus, this story couldn't have emerged.”

Lucinda, I hope you enjoy it. It is a sequel, but I don't think you should have any problem understanding what happened prior in book #1. I look forward to your feedback.

David

Lucinda Dear David,
Thank you so much for acepting my friendship request here on Goodreads. I am delighted to have won a copy of your novel Memory's Curse (Task Force: Gaea, #2) {through a first-read giveaway}, which i am really looking forward to reading! Thank you for having your work as a giveaway and look out for reviews posted online.
Kind Regards
Lucinda x

Spencer Robinson I don't see any of Roger Zelazny's stuff on your book lists. The bulk of his stuff is heavy on the mythological influences. Being into fantasy/mythology as you are you should check some of his work out if you haven't before.

David Berger Same here. I'm eager to know what you think of the novel when you finish it (and would love a GR review). I enjoy meeting like-minded people!
