Free Fiction: Bonfire Night

It’s Guy Fawkes night! That wonderful day of the year where we celebrate the burning of traitors. Here’s a short romance for the occasion.

Jason snuggled close to Bri, his head resting on his shoulder. A few feet away, sealed off behind barred fences, flames leapt, kindling crackling, the Guy at the centre (which for some reason looked more like father Christmas than Guy Fawkes) already turned to ash. Around them a few couples were doing the same, blankets spread out under them. Groups of frie...

Prompt Me!

Hallowe’en will soon be upon us, and to get into the spirit (hurr, spirit, get it?) of things, I’m going to write up to 500 word stories for anyone who wants to leave a prompt below.

Prompts should follow a theme of Hallowe’en or autumn, at least loosely. Pictures are okay to use as prompts too (: Specify if you want m/m, f/f or m/f. If you don’t specify I’ll assume anything goes.

I shall now sit back and watch as cobwebs gather in the comments section (:

Free Story: Love Magick (F/F)

Every morning started the same way for Catherine and her Aunt Lillian. They sat at the breakfast table over fruit, porridge, and a pot of tea, and each would draw a card from the deck that would represent their day.

Lillian smiled to herself as she drew out the wheel of fortune and passed the deck across the table. Catherine fanned them out across the white lace of the table cloth, the outermost cards touching the teapot at one end and the honey jar at the other.

Lillian clapped her hands as C...

Excerpt: The Dog in the Mist

The good people over at Less Than Three Press now haveBestiaryexcerpts up on theirComing Soonpage.

You can read the excerpt forTheDog in the Misthere, so you can see if you hate it and would rather save your money for something else (although obviously I’m hoping for the opposite reaction). The excerpt covers the first couple of pages from the book.

There are also excerpts for a bunch of the other stories that you should check out, because some of those are amazing ^^

And now that the word ‘exce...

Snippet: The Dog in the Mist

In two months’ time, The Dog in the Mist will be released out into the world. Because I keep getting excited and just want to share it already, here is a short extract from the story (:

He pushes the memories aside; they’re no good to him now. All he wants right now is sleep, and it’s the middle of the day, but really, he couldn’t care less. It’s safe under the duvet, dark and quiet and still with it pulled over his head. Death can find you anywhere, he thinks. Even in your bed. There’s nowher...

Editing

As some of you might know, if you’ve read my bio over at LT3, I don’t just write, I also edit. For LT3, this is copy editing, but I can do more thorough edits as well. I’ve been a bit weird about advertising my services as a freelance editor, mostly because I don’t know how to advertise very well (I would make a terrible publicist). But I do know how to edit, and my rates are pretty affordable, especially if it’s just a copy edit that you need. So below are the details of the services I offer...

The Bestiary, Coming Soon

I have a publication date for The Dog in the Mist! It’s part of LT3′s The Bestiary collection, and will be released on the 14th of November, both as a single e-book and as part of a bundle. There will be four bundles available, released weekly, and the whole collection will be available once all the bundles have been released. They will also be available in four volumes in paperback later on.

I absolutely love the cover art for these. Check out the others in the collection, because they’re al...

Lookit!

As you know I’ve a not-so-short story coming up in LT3′s The Bestiary collection, which I think will be out around November time.

My story is called The Dog in the Mist and is set in Devon, utilising a whole heap of local folklore.

Dorian is unlucky. He’s lost his parents, his best friend, and now he’s lost his gran as well. And to top it all off, he’s being stalked by a dog—a dog that’s bigger than a dog has any right to be, a dog that brings death in its wake. Soon, Dorian will learn that all...
