Anthologies and shiz
Lately I’ve not been writing. I don’t know what it is, really, but probably it’s just pure laziness and lack of motivation, the fact that there are other demands on my time for a change. It’s been a while. It’s been a year, in fact, since I had a proper project to work on.
In that year I’ve moved house, oh, five times. I’ve been in my current flat now for seven months. The time’s gone incredibly quickly. We’ve had two house parties and I’m left with only one of the three rats I moved in with (...

Freebie: The Ticking Heart
It looks like I have all the books out this week. As well as part one of my serial Rocking Hard story, I also have a little freebie now up on the LT3 site called The Ticking Heart. It’s about an inventor, Vincent, who’s trying to create a clockwork man but keeps getting it wrong, and meanwhile keeps pushing away his assistant, Samuel, who cares for Vincent but disapproves of this latest work.
The Ticking Heart is a steampunky short of 7,000 words, and you can download it for free here (: Yay!

Keeping it Together: Part 1
I’m a little behind in discussing this one, but part 1 of my serial story, Keeping it Together came out this week in LT3′s Rocking Hard anthology.
There are a lot of great writers in the anthology, so it’s well worth signing up for serial, and there are other anthologies as well if rock stars don’t float your boat … but if they don’t I have to ask, what’s wrong with you? :p
My story is about a 19 year old girl with overbearing parents who meets a carefree rock musician her family definitely won...

Give Away: The Lightning Moon
We finally have internet in our flat! With it, of course, comes even later hours than normal (and considering I often work nights, that’s pretty late) as I keep finding random things on Google or Facebook that must be read Right Now. But it does make life easier, so in celebration of re-entering the 21st century, I am offering a giveaway of my latest release, The Lightning Moon.
All you have to do to win a copy is to leave a comment with your e-mail address, and then we will let some randomis...

Sweet Release!
Today The Lightning Moon is finally being released into the world. I’m half-eager to read, half-dreading the reviews (assuming, of course, that I get any). The story is set in a version of Bristol (England, of course) where magic is real. Arrow is a witch, using his gifts to a very simple end: to make money. Whatever the job, Arrow will usually take it, but he finds a little more than he bargained for on this particular job, something that, just maybe, he could give up his old life for. But w...

Happy (slightly early) 2014!
Now that we have finally emerged on the other side of Christmas, things are beginning to quieten down and I have time (and the internet at my mum’s house) to update this blog and wish you all a happy end of December and new year (:
This year has pretty much turned everything around for me. In January I was working a miserable job where no one talked to me and it was a good day if a customer said hello back when I greeted them. I had no money (something that I’m sure everyone who reads this blo...

Popcorn, Rats, and Book Updates
I have been in Bristol now for five months. I have to say I love this city. It feels alive, like there’s always something going on somewhere. Although judging by the number of police cars I hear wailing past, those things usually seem to be burglaries and assaults.
I keep wondering to myself where all my time is going. I certainly haven’t spent any of it writinglike I intended to. Perhaps a little more so this last month, but mostly I’ve been working. How I can spend so much time scooping and...

Hallowe’en Prompts!
Hallowe’en has to be, by far, my favourite festival. As children we’d dress up in bin bags and witch’s hats, carve a pumpkin and do some apple bobbing, although the general consensus in this country seems to be that trick-or-treating is an American tradition that annoys people and looks like begging. The one time my mother relented we were staying in a holiday park, and those poor people werecompletely unprepared. We came away with a couple of sweets and a bit of spare change. Luckily for the...

‘No,’ I a...

Free Fiction: Hanging
It’s story time!! This one’s a little 1k m/m fluff thing.
Nate groaned in protest, the insistent beep of his alarm paying him no mind. Finally, grudgingly, he swung an arm out of bed and whacked down the snooze button, buried his face in his pillow. His head hurt, stomach churned, and the room felt tentative, like it could tip over at any moment; staying in bed was certainly the best option.
He hadn’t realised how much he’d been drinking last night, how wasted he’d been, but he had hazy memorie...
