BEA – Self-Publishing Course – Part One – Branding

This past June I attended the Book Expo Americas, Self Publish Conference. (uPublish U) in New York City. This was the first writing conference I have ever attended. (Yes, that’s true, sigh).

I’ve always known I wanted to publish my own novels. Being able to control my own fate appeals to me on both a macro, and micro level. Coming from a design background, producing my own covers wasn’t a huge stretch, though I am learning and growing more everyday with practice. Designing is a passion and en...

Secrets

I’ve been watching the show DEXTER. (For those who have no idea about the show, Dexter is a Serial Killer — of Killers. He has a code and the show is very compelling and dark with humor and compassion). My husband and I are now on Season Three. (We’ve been watching two episodes a night! woah. lol) This little piece was inspired by the show.

Everyone has secrets.

Some hide in plain sight and others in the shadows.

Darkness is diacritic.

Pain is personal.

My Confessions (10) Travel Edition

Hello, hello. How are all my lovely friends and readers on this Wednesday? Me? I’ve been playing nurse maid for my husband who had surgery on Monday. (Don’t worry, he’s fine) I’ve been thinking about destinations and places to visit. You see, my confession this week is that I have never been outside of the USA. I mainly travel within New England. I’ve driven to Florida, stayed in Virginia, and Flown to California.

Other than Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, New...

Keeping the Spice in a Marriage

I thought long and hard about what topic to write about, and I kept circling back to “keeping the spice” in a marriage. You see, not only do I dabble in paranormal erotic romance, I also write an erotic marriage series featuring Eliza and Jett Prince – happily married monogamous couple of ten years with four children.

Although I write about married couples, most of the spicing up can be used in any relationship. One of the issues Jett and Eliza face in “Finding Time” is well, finding time to b...

Be Careful With My Heart

The other night I challenged my husband. I told him, “Find me a photo, and give me 5 words to write with.” And so, here we are, on a Monday. A short story awaits you…

This is the photo he chose:

Eliza leaned back in the rigid wood kitchen chair and drummed her fingers on the table, pondering Jett’s latest text message. She was so lost and her thoughts circled the mental tank of insanity. He’d left their notebook out and then sent her a message to look inside at the picture. The photo was of a m...

My Confessions (9) TV Shows

Hi and welcome!

If this is your first time as a confessionist, excellent. Fresh meat! There is only one rule on Confession Wednesdays — You do not talk about Confessions outside of this blog… (I’m kidding! I’m kidding.) The real rule is that if it’s your first time here — well, you have to confess!

This week I am confessing that I don’t watch a lot of television. Most programs sort of suck now. But back in the day I was a faithful Law and Order fan (The original with Jerry Orbach, and Jack McCo...

Soul Searching

Finding Balance by ER Pierce

Original written work © 2012

Her heart twisted and an irregular beat echoed in her head. She’d kissed Jett goodbye and wished him well on his soul-seeking journey, and yet here she still stood watching the rain slide down the chilled windowpane. The mugginess turned into a late afternoon thundershower and coalesced with her ruminations, yet the air conditioner still blazed its icy air inside the house causing condensation both inside and out.

Eliza sighed. One of tho...

Family: Our trip = Craziness

Yo –

It’s been a while, and I’m sorry for that. Life has been crazy and hectic. You could throw in a little chaotic and gut-wrenching as well. But I’m back, and better than ever. On Thursday Night (7/5/12), my husband James and I decided to go to Pennsylvania. Don’t laugh, that’s just how we roll. Thankfully our kids are good about it, and even thrive on, adventure. We packed up our shit, called a billion places near Hershey, PA and finally found a cabin for rent at a campground that could acc...
