4 Freaking Awesome Things in THRAX
***SPOILER ALERT*** If you haven’t read ACCA, don’t read this.
Or read it, but know that you’ve been warned!
Awesome Thing One. The baby, baby!
Myla got pregnant at the end of the new book 3, ACCA (I told you there would be spoilers!) In THRAX, she has her baby. Do I make pregnancy easy on her? No way. And the birth? It’s going to be EPIC.
Awesome Thing Two. Lincoln, Lincoln and Evil Lincoln
I love the honest and supportive relationship between Myla and Lincoln. So throwing an evil double into the mix will only highlight the amazingness that is their relationship (see description below). Plus, Myla doesn’t take any crap from evil Lincoln. It’s awesome.
Awesome Thing Three. Earth.
What Myla knows about Earth, she’s learned from old television re-runs from the 1970’s and 80’s. Sending her into modern society is going to be a blast.
Awesome Things Four. Cissy and Zeke.
And does Myla go to earth alone? No way. She has Cissy there to help (by request) and Zeke (because he’s just that much of a pain in the ass.) They all have to use a show choir as a cover story so they can roam around Earth and search for the real Lincoln. Thinking about Myla in a show choir just makes me laugh my ass off! Ah, the scenes I have planned!

Why Dimension Drift Is Set In Boston
For those of you who follow my posts, you know that I live a somewhat split life—there’s Writer-Me and Business-Me—and Writer-Me is forever doing things that surprise my other half. Setting DD in Boston was one such shocker because this place was never meant to be my permanent home. Coming to Boston was the equivalent of crashing on some random guy’s couch for a night and then, twenty years later, you wake up and realize you have a house and three kids with him.
Still, Writer-Me decided to set a whole series in this town, and that got Business-Me thinking. Here are three reasons why I believe Boston got under my skin.
Reason One. The People Here Still Hate Taxes

So not over.
Here’s an example of that anger in action. This is the Greenline MBTA train that I take to work. Notice the 1950’s design vibe. That’s not an aesthetic choice, it’s because that’s when the thing was built.
Seriously.
These trains break down all the time, they smoke, and odd thumping noises regularly come up through the floor when the brakes stop working (no, I am not kidding.) We had a chance to fix up all the trains when Boston was in the running to host the Olympics.
Emphasis on the words “had a chance.”

Bostonians hated that concept, in no small part because it meant extra taxes. Seth Meyers nails it below…

Reason Two. The People Are Tough
After the marathon bombings, I thought some folks might hide out or maybe start a protest march or two about immigrants. After all, there were SWAT teams in the suburbs… Someone was bound to freak out, right?
But the day after the bombings, everyone went about their business. I mean everyone. And the protests never happened. That’s because, in the minds of Boston folks, if we stopped our lives, the fear won. It was an unspoken thing until David Ortiz pretty much summed it up…
“This is our fucking city and nobody’s gonna dictate our freedom.”
High fives for Mr. Ortiz.
Reason Three. Bostonians are Tough On Other Things, Too
