New Releases in SciFi and Fantasy Romance for Wednesday October 26
I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL) and as always I recommend sampling before you buy!
I put them in the order in which they come to me from authors or I find them myself in the previous week, so it’s a mix of the genres…(usually giving priority to the books brought to my attention by the authors.) Also the term “new” is generally plus or minus a week or two. And I catch up on ones I missed in recent mont...
iBooks Highlights Scifi Romance
I’m excited to announce that iBooks is running a special promo on twenty or so science fiction romance books (including my own Star Cruise: Outbreakand Pets In Space too) now through November 8th!
It’s always thrilling to me when our romance genre receives extra attention and a chance to find new readers. Author Susan Grant has worked tirelessly to make this particular event happen, coordinating with the people at iBooks and being a strong voice for scifi romance. A few of us assisted her on...

Lea Kirk Talks About Favorite Animal Stories
Veronica sez: I met Lea literally and in the cyber world as fellow members of the SFR Brigade!
Lea, from “Space Ranger” : Two weeks of healthy eating and nonstop love had transformed the furry, half-dead rag into a bright-eyed, tongue-licking bundle of curiosity. And she brought Simone happiness, more happiness than he could give her.
When thinking about pet stories, which one pops into your mind first? Where the Red Fern Grows? “Old Yeller”? It was the movie version of the former which kept...

Cara Bristol Interviews Sparky the Robot Dog
Veronica: Today I have my friend Cara Bristol on the blog with an interview – Sparky the dog from Spark of Attraction, her excellent story in the PETS IN SPACE anthology!
Cara Bristol: Today, I’m interviewing Sparky, the pet dog of Miranda Lowell, the heroine of Spark of Attraction. Welcome, Sparky!
Sparky: You do know dogs can’t talk, don’t you?
Cara Bristol: I know. But for the sake of the interview, let’s pretend you can, okay?
Sparky: Woof.
Cara Bristol: I’ll that as a yes. Can you tell r...

Alexis Glynn Latner on How SciFi Explores New Ways of Being Human
Veronica sez: Alexis is one of the eight other authors in the Pets In Space anthology (PISA)! So happy to have her as my guest today – I always love discussions that touch on classic science fiction stories.
Alexis: One way to understand science fiction (by which I mean mostly in written form, not media – the traditions of novels from Frankenstein to now, by writers who take science into account) is that science fiction is the genre that explores new ways of being human – mutants, cyborgs, ne...

One more excerpt from my story ‘Star Cruise: Stowaway’ in the PETS IN SPACE anthology, which released this past week. Edited a bit from the published version. Picking up from where I stopped last week:
He hoped Moby hadn’t sampled whatever Midorri was drinking. The alien anima...

Guest Author Laurie Green Shares a Favorite Scene From StarDog
Veronica sez: I met Laurie in the Science Fiction Romance Brigade and we’ve shared all kinds of fun times as SFR authors. Pauline B. Jones and I were so pleased that Laurie wanted to ‘play’ with our concept of Pets In Space, and here she is today to share a favorite scene from her story:
Laurie: Choosing an excerpt from StarDog was something that took a lot of thought. What snippet might provide a tempting taste of the tale…yet only hint at what’s in store?
I decided on this passage, which I...
