Wednesday New Releases in SciFi and Fantasy Romance for October 5

the-leopard-kingI have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL) and as always I recommend sampling before you buy!

I put them in the order in which they come to me from authors or I find them myself in the previous week, so it’s a mix of the genres…(usually giving priority to the books brought to my attention by the authors.) Also the term “new” is generally plus or minus a week or two. And I catch up on ones I missed in recent mont...

Musings on HBO Westworld Episode One

teddy-and-doloresI’m not going to recap HBO’s ‘Westworld’ episode one “The Original” in minute detail but I did have some thoughts, both as I was watching it and later.

The first thing that struck me is how very much like “Jurassic Park” the plot structure is. I guess that’s not surprising since Michael Crichton’s story telling style is at the root of both. Big, elaborate high tech park, with ‘hosts’ instead of dinosaurs, although the hosts are just as deadly and just as underestimated. The elderly, quirky fo...

Guest Author Susan Grant Talks Foxbat the Soul Kitty and PETS IN SPACE

PETS_In_Space_cover_artVeronica: NY Times Best Selling and RITA Award winning Susan Grant is one of those author names you always hear mentioned in the science fiction romance world, usually on a “Best of…” list. Many people began their enjoyment of SFR with one of her novels! When my friend, author Pauline B. Jones and I decided to put together the Pets In Space anthology, Susan was one of the first people we wanted to invite. As you’ll read in her blog post, Susan is a veteran and a pet lover, as well as a pilot...

Guest Author Liza O’Connor with DANCE OR DIE Excerpt

dance-or-die-4-400x600Veronica sez: Something a bit different today from my friend author Liza O’Connor – a Mafia story….and she’s going to start off by talking about EMP first!

Liza: Electromagnetic Pulse Devices

EMPs were once just the fodder of Sci-Fi, but upon being conceived, even in fiction, someone figured out a way to create such a device.

In 2013, Diehel BGT Defense submitted a patent for a Microwave generator. From there they created the nonlethal HPEM (High-Power-Electro-Magnetics) systems enabling mili...
