Thank You To All Veterans
Thank you from my family and me to every man and woman who is now, or has served this country, to keep us strong and free.
NOT meant as a sales pitch – Today is the final day to get your copy (or gift a copy) of the Pets In Space anthology and have us donate 10% of the cover price to the wonderful Hero Dogs, Inc. charity, which trains and provides service dogs to veterans in need. One of our authors is a veteran and we all have family members who have served, so we’re proud to support this e...

New Releases in SciFi and Fantasy Romance for Wednesday November 9
I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL) and as always I recommend sampling before you buy!
It’s a mix of the genres in no particular order. Also the term “new” is generally plus or minus a week or two. And I catch up on ones I missed in recent months.
(NOTE: If the author provides me with buy links I insert those; otherwise I default to Amazon and iBooks.)
Also, I usually include only the beginning of the bo...

Veronica Takes A Magazine Quiz
I love doing these quizzes and I’ve been so busy of late with Pets In Space that I haven’t had time for answering questions. Found this one in the April issue of Marie Claire magazine.
If I weren’t a writer, I’d be: Not breathing. Writing is at the core of me.
Best career advice I’ve gotten: Keep up with changes in your industry, at least to be aware of them, even if you don’t adopt them yourself.
3 Qualities that got me where I am today: Optimism. Humor. Never give up (persistence?)
Moment I...

New Releases in SciFi and Fantasy Romance for Wednesday November 2
I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL) and as always I recommend sampling before you buy!
I put them in the order in which they come to me from authors or I find them myself in the previous week, so it’s a mix of the genres…(usually giving priority to the books brought to my attention by the authors.) Also the term “new” is generally plus or minus a week or two. And I catch up on ones I missed in recent mont...

Don’t Miss My Pets In Space Guest Posts
I thought it might be fun to gather the links to my various guest posts with my fellow authors for the Pets In Space anthology in one place, in case you wanted to read any that you might have missed! I talked about scifi pets in movies and TV, my own childhood pets and various other topics.
First, a post about a ‘pet’ who actually went to space – Miss Baker, the monkey. I did get a chance to see her several times as a kid…I was on Carysa Locke’s blog.
I talked a little about my inspiration fo...
A True Scary Halloween Story from Jeffe Kennedy
Happy Halloween! One of the scariest stories I ever read is actually nonfiction, Birdwoman, and has stuck in my brain for years now. It still gives me the shivers, like a great Stephen King novel, only this actually happened. I invited author Jeffe Kennedy to visit today and answer a few questions for me as follow up to the story.
First, the blurb: A psychological thriller set in the Pacific northwest, the true story, told in essay form, of an encounter with the paranormal: a vengeful goddess...

Guest Carysa Locke Shares Her Favorite Psychic Abilities
Veronica: I know Carysa from the SFR Brigade and from interviewing her for USA Today Happily Ever After about her book Pirate Nemesis.
Carysa: In my telepathic space pirates’ series, the Talented are humans with various psychic Talents. Some can speak telepathically, some can use telekinesis, or teleport, or kill with a thought. Some can track someone anywhere in the universe, and some are psychically bonded to animals with their own mental gifts. These animals are called kith, and they come...
