An Excerpt from Deadly Obsession

To give you a little taste of what this bundle has in store for you, here's a short excerpt from DEADLY OBSESSION, my contribution to the collection. 

Lauren rolled her eyes. “Fine. Do it.”
Nic bent down and brushed his lips against hers. For the first few seconds, she didn’t kiss him back, but she didn’t push him away, either. Then, on a sigh, she leaned into him and her arms locked around his neck. His tongue darted out to taste her bottom lip. Mmm… cherry—his new favorite flavor. When her mouth opened, he didn’t hesitate. 

He dove in. And drowned.

He’d meant this to be a quick kiss, only now he just couldn’t stop. His lips traced a path to her throat. Cupping her bottom with his hands, he lifted her up, grinding against her. She moaned. It was a beautiful sound, one he definitely wanted to hear again. 

A loud noise pierced the fog of his lust. He raised his head from where he’d been nuzzling Lauren’s apple-scented neck to tell whoever it was to fuck off, but as the sexual haze cleared, he swallowed the words. The paparazzi had gathered around, applauding and calling out crude encouragements. Some snapped photos while others rolled film. Shit. He’d pay for this fuck-up and so would she.

In this round, two things are happening: 1) Publisher's Weekly will review the entries, and 2) Amazon has posted the excerpts (~ one chapter) for free download on Amazon. Readers are invited to read the free excerpts and post a review. 

The Publisher's Weekly review is interesting because it costs a lot of money to submit to them as an indie author. The customer reviews are even more interesting, in my opinion. With enough reviews, a book will rise to the top of the list of 500 quarter-finalist excerpts and gain visibility. 

Some authors have huge followings, with very eager fans. Others have more quiet fans. :) I'd be very appreciative if you could download the entry and give a quick, honest review. Remember, the excerpt is only one chapter, and it's free!

Not even giving you any damn explanation beyond ‘It just isn’t going to work.’ That’s pure bullshit—you deserve better than that after all the years you guys were together.”Simon clenched his fists at his sides, closed his eyes, and counted to ten in his head. After taking a breath through his nose and releasing it slowly, he looked at his brother. “Sammy, I appreciate that you were looking out for me, but Scott was right—you were out of line. I repeat: What happened between Laura and me is none of your business.”

Thanksgiving is a time of year to reflect on our lives and remember those things we often take for granted. For me, one of those things is our freedom to express our sexuality, whatever form it may take. This is, in a nutshell, the theme of my Six-Alarm Sexy series. So, let me tell you a bit about it.



The Six-Alarm Sexy series is about the men and women of Seattle's technical rescue team at  Fire Station 44. The first five books each feature one of the Caldwell family siblings: Jamie, William, Drew, Chad, and Tori. While the series is erotic romance, it also delves into the difficulties and struggles of being a firefighter as well as being the lover or family member of a firefighter. These men and women risk their lives every day. Stress accumulates. Tensions mount. Emotions explode.

As you can well imagine, adrenaline junkies such as these heroes and heroines tend to be a little on the wild side when it comes to their sex life. This is not a BDSM series, although BDSM does figure heavily in some of the stories. Each hero and heroine is different, and each has their own kink or fetish. The fun is in figuring out how some of these very unlikely hookups can ever result in a happily ever after.

There are currently five books planned in the Six-Alarm Sexy series. But with a technical rescue team of 24, many more stories await to be told.
