She touched down on the Valley floor! Around 4:30pm Saturday (4 days, 9 hours), Jenn Shelton completed the 220 mile John Muir Trail after three unsuccessful attempts. Krissy Moehl stopped at mile 136 with major GI issues. Both are doing well now. Congrats ladies!

The Unbearable Lightness of Being Scott Williamson | Backpacker Magazine

The Unbearable Lightness of Being Scott Williamson | Backpacker Magazine:
To hike from Mexico to Canada and back, a man needs strength and speed and luck. He needs something else, too. If only he knew what it was.

I’ve saved this article for years and came across it this week while going through an old office box. It’s one of my all-time favorite sports adventure articles, published in 2005 by Backpacker Magazine and cleverly written by Steve Friedman. In 2004 Scott Williamson was the first person to yoyo the 2,560 mile Pacific Crest Trail—hike from Mexico to Canada and back to Mexico in one season! Rumor has it, he’s hitting the trail again this month to take back the overall PCT speed record. Thanks for the inspiration Scott!

Exploring the mountains on two wheels. 54 miles with over 5,000’ of ascent from Boulder, gorgeous! Borrowed a bike from a buddy and got dragged out by my wife and her friend. Forgot how great it is to be on the bike!
