AT LAST by Billy London
Description:Courtney has been nursing a low-grade crush on her long time mate, Chris, who is away, teaching English in South Africa — so imagine her surprise when she starts receiving emails from Chris’s housemate, Ryan. Can Courtney and Ryan bring their online romance into the real world?
The Good: This is a sweet but seriously sexy story, featuring a very cute, young couple, who make each other laugh. They had terrific banter, and again the sex was very, very hot. I loved that the two charac...

BRIAR’S CHAMPION by Mahalia Levey
Description: When Briar’s famous boyfriend, not only marries someone else, but also kicks her out of the home they shared together, she thinks she’s done with love for good — that is, until Sloan Gutiérrez walks into her life.
The Good: I love a concept that involves a heroine forgetting one man by getting under another. Also, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a hero who just prefers to date black women.
The Bad: A great set-up is squandered by rushed and clumsy execution. The love story especi...

SEDUCED BY THE WOLF by Zena Wynn
Description:Von Washington has a secret: she has never stopped being pen pals with Master Sergeant Sean Jacobson, the former army buddy of her controlling fiancé. But when Sean comes to town several secrets will be revealed, including that he’s a werewolf!
The Good: This is great read with exceptional storytelling, gasp-out-loud twists and turns, and hot, hot, HOT sex. I loved how the author dealt with Sean’s ongoing struggles to control his wolf. And Von’s cousin is awesome. She made me want t...

THE HICK AND THE HIPPIE by Sherrod Story
Description: When outspoken Chicago girl, Lee Morris, gets sent down south to “do time” (once again getting in trouble for her activist ways), the last thing she expects is to become the willing submissive of Xander Crete, a hick, football player.
The Good: This book is H!O!T! from the beginning and really compelling. I couldn’t read it fast enough. The situation was fascinating, and I loved that the author actually deals with the emotional fallout of a young, budding dom/sub relationship. Lee...

Books I Recently Downloaded After Reading the Sample
So the last “Books I Recently Downloaded After Reading the Sample” post went so well, that I figured I’d do it again. Plus, real talk: It really does help me keep my reading organized. I don’t want to say I have a problem with keeping my digital bookshelves organized , but I do often find unread samples and sometimes entire books that got lost in the shuffle. Having these posts to refer to helps me keep it all sorted.
I’ve done reports on most of the books from last time — including SNATCHED b...

TATTED by Renee LaRuse
Description: When good cop, Misha Barrett, collides with reformed ex-con, Mark “Nello” Giovanello, it’s instant chemistry. But can they navigate their extreme differences to make a relationship work?
The Good:I love when authors really go oppositewith the “opposites attract” trope and Ms. LaRuse absolutely does. TATTED is a very compelling story with an engaging and funny hero. It’s easy to see why a cop would initially be attracted to this bad boy, who turns out to be a truly dedicated love i...
SNATCHED by Sharon Cullars
Description: Who knew that a love of short ribs could get one character into so much trouble? But when an angry Nailah throws a short rib at a group of dangerous bikers, the person she hits, Dele — who just so happens to be an undercover cop disguised as one them — is forced to kidnap her. Now all he has to do is figure out how to keep both of them alive and solve the case.
The Good: I bought this, no sample needed, because Sharon Cullars has proven herself to be an amazing storyteller with a...

Deepest Apologies
So sorry for not updating the blog. Had a huge project to complete at my day job and a summer vacation to take. But I’m back and will be posting regularly since I read a ton of books on vacay — quite a few of which I’m excited to recommend to you.
Happy Reading,

HARMONY by Sienna Mynx
Description: When Harmony’s brother, a small-time bootlegger goes missing, the Harlem-Renaissance-era jazz singer turns to Sicilian mob boss, Vinnie Romano for help. Cue the epic romance.
The Good: This is going to be a pretty short review, because I really, really loved this novel. It’s a ton of story for your buck, and it reads fast. Most importantly, it fully displays Ms. Mynx’s growth as a writer. This is really epic storytelling, and Ms. Mynx has done some terrific character work with Har...
